Walt GiffordParticipant
I’ve had most carbs that had to be set 1-1/2 or 2 turns. When I get on that needs 2-1/2 turns I think there’s something wrong with it.
You’re revving it wrong on the line up. I can keep one going all day standing still. If you hold it open a certain amount it will feed a ton of fuel. Pop it open and closed every 2 seconds don’t try to idle it higher with the pedal.

Walt GiffordParticipantThere are certain upgrades that are legal like the CL1 cam. If you have a lift only rule you can run the mod2 cam. Did you get your head decked to minimum, did you lap the valves and set the lash at .002″? You need to set you ignition timing (30 on gas), it’ll be differently abled in the stock position.
You’re not going to get much more than 50 mph on a short sprint track but you should get there 3/4 down the longest straight. 6000-6200 is a good number.

Walt GiffordParticipantDo you have tech inspections?
Walt GiffordParticipantEven the major car makers say the greatest key to safety is driver behavior.

Walt GiffordParticipantNicholson Speedway MD has a night race this Saturday night. Great track great people and food. If you’ve never raced under the lights you’re in for a treat. Last night race of the year don’t miss it.
Other tracks would be Orville PA and Sandyhook MD they all have web sites you can google.

Walt GiffordParticipantDerek, want to hear something even funnier. Lately I’ve been trying to decide weather to buy the kartlift LT or a lift sold by a local kart shop that sells for $300 less. I think the kartlift is a better product and probably more dependable but the other one seems to get the job done.
I’ve never used skid plates so, consider me dumb on that. I just thought it would be an idea to make the belly pan to cover the bottom.
Peace,
GifWalt GiffordParticipantI don’t need a gauge to tell me when I’m screwing up.
Walt GiffordParticipantGood luck finding that one in a hardware store. Common problem with that kind of retainment. The aluminum pocket gets punched out and the pads start hanging on the bolt under braking. Are you using aftermarket pads that are too small for the caliper pocket? That little bolt is not supposed to hold the pads against rotation, that’s why it’s snapping.
Drill everything out and use 1/4″ will help a little if you have the meat in the pad tabs. Just make sure it’s a high tensile strength bolt and drill it for a cotter key. You can easily measure the length with the two caliper halfs together. Allow an extra 3/8″ for the nut.
Don’t know why they can’t make a pocket with a replaceable steel piece. Just another example of kart parts that are made to last 3 races.

Walt GiffordParticipantShoes and everything listed above still for sale.
Walt GiffordParticipantI put on some offset wheels I had and was able to get 45-1/2″ do you think that would be enough for a 55″ rear?
Walt GiffordParticipant2 years ain’t that long.

Walt GiffordParticipantGet a piece of 3/4 plywood about 1′ x 3′ and put it under your kart where the seat goes. Now for left to right you want the seat to be 1″ left of center so find center and mark it on the plywood. You might have to bend the left strut a bit, try not to kink it. Then put the seat on the wood and get in and slide/tilt around until you find a good spot as far as being forward and back but try to get more forward if it’s comfy. Mark the spot with a sharpy in the left seat strut hole. After you get that right just square up the seat and mark the right strut hole.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantIf that’s the problem all you need is the PTO half.
Walt GiffordParticipantWhat size seat?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantOh wait they are $60 – $85 and they don’t cover the bend on the side rails?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantWho cares I drive Margay made in USA.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantHave you had the kart on scales, have you checked the roll out?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantIf the guy asked what year is it, find another guy. Post the number and I’ll look it up but the latest crank will fit unless you have the engine on a water pump.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantYeah 6″ wide tire on a 7″ wide wheel, it worked good on my sit up sprint. Is that weird for a lay down?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipant5.50 fronts on 6″ wheels, 6.0 rears on 7″ wheels, Dunlop SL-4 18psi.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantYou’ve got PM
Walt GiffordParticipantSealed so you don’t have to clean them.

Walt GiffordParticipantSeriously, nobody else wants to see pics of Debbie’s long hair?
