It doesn’t matter. The ones cherry picking engines will just have to do it more often.

They can stop you so quick you can’t use it.

2008 is a good year for a CRG kart. Look at how far the brake pads move in the caliper. The pads are held in place by the aluminum caliper pocket and it gets punched out so bad your retainer bolt will get worked. The floating rotor has an aluminum hub that gets punched out to so, check how floppy the rotor is.

You can’t just use a DOT helmet at a track where they check helmets. The helmet has to be Snell rated M2010 or better.

It doesn’t matter how low it cost, if the helmet has the Snell rating it’s just as good as any other helmet with the same rating. Things that raise the price don’t always raise the safety.

Some brands are round shape (Bell) some are football shaped (Shoei). If you find the shape and size you like in a certain brand at the store you can then find the same brand with a Snell rating on line and it’s a good bet it will fit.

Exhaust can be .030″ lower than legal, cut the skirt for max intake and set the head clearance for .025″ with 15 degree angle and a 1/64″ radius. Advance the ignition to max legal.

My experience is that the heavier more powerful kart will have an advantage at top end only. The game is to hold everyone off with tricky driving then get a good run onto the straight where you will pass everybody after you hit the main jet. If your track is all tight and you have to gear low you’re in for a real hurky jerky ride.

If you can make the lower weight I would go for it. 4 hole @ 300# would be faster most of the track depending on the lay out plus easier to get back on the kart stand. Just keep the throttle open, keep the fire burning and smoothly drive around the track with great precision. Keep to the inside coming off the straight.

We had a class with 4 different set ups, 2 different engines. Yamaha 4 hole was winning and they kept adding weight to it until it got to 390# then everybody quit. Combined classes are not good because you get the Jeff Gorden effect. Jeffs Chevy goes fast so penalize all Chevys.

At your height and weight you won’t have to worry about chassis tuning. You just slam all the settings to make it as loose as you can and it will still be too tight with snap oversteer. You’ll be 25 lbs over weight for the heavy class which will hurt you on the short track and your height will be like an aero brake on the long track. Your vertical center of gravity will make you feel like an elephant on a roller skate and if someone taps you, you can easily go into a bone breaking flip. I’ve seen big and tall guys flip without hitting anything when they put a wheel wrong. Best bet, don’t run the spec tire, super hard tires first season, sliding is good grip will flip. I’m big and tall too but I get by with 40+ years of driving skill and I’m a jet mechanic so my equipment prep is excellent. Even so it’s extremely hard to win a race or run with the leaders (dangerous) unless there are special circumstances. I keep doing it (even though it beats me up physically) because it’s just so much dang fun and the people are great. If you’re ready for that reality welcome to karting.

The euro kart is more mainstream than the American kart. Come on Jan 20th.

Looks like it’s worth a good cleaning. Check the data plate on the cross rail behind the seat.

You can just run the fuel out and it will be fine, if you want to do more:

Pull the fuel line off and start the engine. After a few seconds spray wd40 in the gas inlet of the carb then let it run out of gas as you choke it to keep the rpms down.

Then take the spark plug out and pour in 1/2 a cap full of ATF, Marvel Mystery oil or just motor oil with the exhaust port closed, give it a minute to run out to the cylinder walls then turn it over a few times by hand. Don’t use too much oil.

Basically a problem on every kart. Usually the rub is out of the range of normal steering on track. Can you reconfigure the steering rod to a lower position?

I’d like to see longer wheel base and track width allowed.

Well if it’s a racing kart it sounds like it’s from the Gold Cup series but could also be an oval kart or a yard kart. Without a link or a Pic it’s very hard to tell.

A seat that actually fit a human being would be nice. A carbon fiber nose that explodes on impact not so much. You’d have everyone with a flat tire wanting to kill you.

They were held up by the officials then penalized for not making the grid on time? You can say rules are rules buy you really shouldn’t treat people that severely at a simple go kart race.

What happened to the rest of the karts, did they get to race later? That’s a new low having your crew block the other karts from getting on the track. I never though of that one lol. If the race was red flagged why didn’t they let everybody go out for the re-start?
