Walt GiffordParticipant
Did you look through your browser history?

Walt GiffordParticipantI don’t think there was a clear discussion of the terms of the deposit. What he is asking is what is the usual common sense protocol.
Need more info, did you have contact in those 3 weeks, did you tell him you were selling it and give him a last chance? Seems like 3 weeks is a pretty long time to leave a deal hanging but you did sell it for your full asking price so it’s not like you missed out on a seller. You did miss out on another deal with an engine but I think it’s a stretch to hang that on him.
Might be worth $100 to get the guy off your back and lesson learned, next time set a time limit.

Walt GiffordParticipantMiranda Kerr is pretty good.
Walt GiffordParticipantYou have to consider rotor width and also your caliper and MC mounting points. Sometimes you need to get a bracket that mounts on your bearing cassette or maybe drift a few holes.
I like the MCP systems, they are a good price, don’t change every year and are available everywhere.

IDK, mines pretty good.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantThe shaft has to seat on the bearings. You might need some bearing shims. Crank should have at least .025″ wall clearance.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantI was going to buy one of those but found a sweet deal on a used Margay.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantI use to have a Tillet seat now I have a permanent back problem. Nagging scar tissue where the rib meets the back bone. Do the math, 5 turns 10 laps 5 track sessions 15 races a season that’s 3,750 punches to one rib. Hope the tillet fits you better than it fit me.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantHave you sat in a ribtec?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantYou don’t need to do anything to store a tire but here’s what I do. Take the tires off the wheels, turn them around and put them back on the wheels, then put them back on the kart on the opposite sides. Get a heat gun and a scraper and clean the clag off then wash with trac tac blue tire wash after it’s dry wrap in cling wrap then shrink the wrap with the heat gun. next year take the plastic off and brush on one coat of trac tac SST a week before the track. Then the day of the race I throw the tires away and mount a new set.

Walt GiffordParticipantYou didn’t say how you are gauging the lift, just by the feel of steering wheel resistance?
I’ve done what you’re saying under very controlled conditions in the shop. It can be off a good bit and still feel right. Also, I didn’t go lock to lock, I set up a pointer and a protractor. Manufactures don’t try to make the lock points equal, it just ends up real close because of modern manufacturing.
If you just want a down and dirty way to check it at the track after a bump then go for it. If you’re setting it up in the shop to be the ultimate chassis I’d look at it different.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantI have much experience running karts through the woods, dirt trails and fields. Make sure you don’t develop more than about 35 mph as you can easily lose control on uneven ground. I’ve had a few trees jump out in front of me. You need at least 4″ of ground clearance. You can’t just put knobby tires on a racing kart. Inspect the frame regularly for cracks. You also need a low gear ratio and a heavy duty clutch along with at least 5 hp. Briggs raptor (flathead) is not good for bumpy trails as the carb will break off. Honda Clone is your best bet. Cross country karting is great fun in the right area. Whatever you do stay off the roadways.

Walt GiffordParticipantIf you weight 190 in the morning before getting dressed you want the 32mm chassis and run the Rota$ heavy class.
But, why don’t you get an LO206 and go over to Etown and get your feet wet. They’ll put you in with similar speed karts and when you’re done with the LO206 they sell like hot cakes, just look and you can’t find one for sale used anywhere.
Rota$ and tag are god awful fast, you’re going to get run over or maybe lose control and get in a pile up. There are allot of newbie guys in those classes with more money than brains and they can’t handle the power, it’s like a meat grinder. Ask somebody how fast they get going on the main straight at Millville. You know what’s at the end of that straight? a braking zone that’s a twisty “S” and a solid steel barrier with no run off area.
Be a rookie for a while and come up through the ranks. I think there are allot of people out there waiting for an LO206 class to get going. Start the revolution.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantDoes it go back to working good after it cools. Could be rear brake fade. The pucks could be letting air in or it could be getting too hot somehow. Are you using DOT4?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantWhy don’t you run Briggs LO206 and save thousands.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantWhere are the Chinese go karts and would you trust one in turn 5 at Summit? Part of what you pay for is something that won’t fall apart at 90 mph.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantAs long as there is fuel in the line it could go over the empire state building because the fuel on the down side will balance the fuel on the up side.
Get a filter made for two stroke fuel. Walbro makes a nice one. Try to mount it vertical so it doesn’t trap a big bubble.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantWalt GiffordParticipantI dismount the tires, turn them around on the wheels then swap them left to right.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantYou guys want him to make it leaner? An enduro engine is set richer but it runs leaner, a sprint engine is set leaner but it runs richer. There’s more to it than just jets.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantJoe, a sprint engine has to run richer than enduro engines.
Walt GiffordParticipantNow you know how lean to make it for the start of the race. Next you need to learn how much to open it up on what lap to control temp.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantRebuild it before it grenades and you’ll save money.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantDon’t forget to get chain oil all over the back of your suit and burn a hole in the sleeve.
