I’ve raced against some guys with developmental disability.

Seriously, everything is usually cool until someone outside the rules starts winning. I can understand if he’s got no other class to run in but there should be a weight penalty or something. Need more info.

If it has the front spindles and steering shaft I’ll take it.

Good advise above +1 for LO206. I would add that rebuilding an engine takes more than simple hand tools. When looking at used karts make sure the brakes work first or at least check to see if you can get parts for that model brake system. Systems change every couple years then you can’t get seals, pads ect.

You can use anything that’s made for racing or motorcycle chain.

I clean my rear gear and chain between track sessions then spray on some thin liquidy chain oil then use some thick Burris chain oil on the inside rollers of the chain then spin for the spider web effect.

I’ve also used sticky Maxima chain wax by itself between sessions. The trick to cleaning it off is to spray a little bit of carb or brake cleaner and it wipes right off. Don’t hose your chain with cleaner or you’ll wash the lube right out of the rollers.

Compression, fuel or spark has to one of those 3. Are you flooding it?

If it’s a motor mount tube it’s got to be welded on. You could have a 5/8″ aluminum sub plate made then use a Burris 3rd bearing top plate for a Yamaha mount. But I would think you could find a magnesium factory mount for it without too much looking. The factory mount would also use the Burris top plate.

If you can down load at the track you can make good use of the mychron 3. If not the mychron 4 is much better because you can read rpm vs time charts right on the gauge. With the 3 you have to watch rpm in real time and it’s somewhat harder to pick out your clutch stall ect. Don’t know anything about alfalfa. EGT is much more responsive and useful than CHT.

You know that most racing tires leak air right through the rubber right? If they hold air for an hour that’s my minimum standard for sprint racing. Have you tried wire brushing or using 150 grit sandpaper. If you have some way to spin the wheel it makes it easy. You could also try a very thin layer of epoxy or JB weld.

Oh, 6″? if you’re an adult running KPV you’re gonna’ want to move to 7.10 rears on 8″ rims. I’d put those R5 on ebay and get a new set of Bridgestone YLC with 7.10 rears and run them at 12 psi.

If you have new R5 rears you want to use just get some DEM fronts 11×5.50×5 or call Russell karting he’ll match them up with something.

You said it was running before you worked on it so it should run. Did you re-check the ground and all the wires and try a new plug?

Engines don’t have serial numbers (except rotax) and the carb is usually made by someone else anyway. If you could post a picture… it’s probably a Tillotson HL kit you’re after. Look on the mounting flange of the carb for numbers.

If you’re running a master link on a kart and getting away with it more power to you but it’s not the HP that gets you.

Lots of people use 219 on 4 strokes. You never want to use a master link for kart racing. You can break the chain and put it back together all day long.

Well pour a little gas in the spark plug hole and see if it fires up for a few seconds. That’ll tell you if the basic engine is working.

Did you put new crankshaft seals in it and seal the split line? Did you take the carb apart again and check the gaskets. The pulse has to get up to the pump. Did you mess with the reeds? Is the fuel line wired on to the carb so it doesn’t have an air leak?

I use Mobil 1 0w20 16oz mixed with 4oz of Marvel Mystery oil in my clone with no problems and I know a few others that do too. You can’t go wrong with 4T or redline though. If you can’t get 4T just use the Amsoil Dominator 5W20 synthetic.

Why not endeavor to use a 10mm king pin if you’re beefing things up?
