Walt GiffordParticipant
Are you the two LO206 guys who are going to Sandyhook this Sunday?
Walt GiffordParticipant+1 John’s a great guy.
I’ve raced up there a few time and there’s so many classes you end up sitting around forever just to run another 10 laps.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantEd, your comments are spot on. I was in line to be a service center but the guy getting me in suddenly left town before I learned the secret hand shake. I was mad at first but now I want to thank him as I’ve read some ex-dealer stories.
If you like racing that package mid pack I think that’s great but the races I’ve seen didn’t look like a level playing field to me.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantRPM tells you everything you need to know.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantThat’s because you’re supposed to use your real name on here.
Walt GiffordParticipant$100 plus shipping to 08302 All I want is the kart, the 2 yellow side panels and the extra front hubs you keep the rest.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantSo glad I sold my Rotax.
Walt GiffordParticipantI guess it’s like putting your hand out the window of a car to feel the breeze, maybe they want more sensory input from the track surface.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantI drive a Coyote and I’m always trying to catch a road runner.
Walt GiffordParticipantThat looks like a pretty old chassis with allot of HP on it.
Walt GiffordParticipantFor which model DXL, how many disk?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantDo you drive flat out? I think you might be operating at a much higher level than anyone here.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantI’ve used 2-1/2 Lb. weight lifting weights painted white with a bushing to make the hole 3/8″ and my take is that they take up allot of space and look like crap. If you make bushing for these kind of weights make sure you put a heavy washer that covers the original hole or the bushing could pop out from vibration. Don’t put more than 5 Lbs. on a 5/16ths bolt. If you mount more than 5 Lbs. on one bolt go up to a 3/8″ bolt.
MM
Walt GiffordParticipantI have two K1 suits (one red one blue) that were $100 a piece and they have served me well. I wear them around the pits and tell everyone that “I drive flat out”, works for me.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantYou could line the magnet up with the coil and see if the piston is near the top but slipping a flywheel is pretty rare on a two stroke. Did you clean/check all the connections?
Walt GiffordParticipantShould be about 150 cranking with the throttle wide open but if it’s around 100 it won’t run. Compression gauges vary greatly but it will give you a general idea. If you get a rebuild you can use that gauge to develop your own numbers compared to a new ring.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantSometimes it can spark outside the cylinder but not spark enough under compression. Clean your ground wires and check the plug boot for tightness.
You might just be flooding it. Is the plug wet? Let it dry out and try again. Are you sure it’s getting gas. Pour a little in the plug hole and see if it fires. Could be broken reed, dirty carb, fuel line air leak or popped out crank seal.
When you prop it through by hand does it have allot of resistance? Might have stuck a ring last time you ran it.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantNot much help, I know.
Just looking at the frames I would think the Tacho would require more precision on turn in but be smoother through the turn if you can get use to it you’d be fast, where the Dragon would tolerate sawing the wheel, turn in smoother then have some kind of craziness deeper in the turn.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantLooks like they would have different waist flex characteristics. The Dragon looks pretty standard but I would go with the Taco, it’s won a world championship.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantDid your mag part have a crack? I’ve seen allot of cracks on mag parts through the years. That’s why I use all aluminum components and I’m choosy about which ones because some of those are made from real junk metal.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantI have to move the right strut by cutting it off and re-welding on every kart I’ve owned. You have to pay close attention to engine clearance. For bending the left one, I use a pipe with U bolts and move it around to get a wide bend. You have to careful where you’re bending it not to kink it and check the welds after.

March 10, 2016 at 6:03 am in reply to: Horstman Clutch, Walbro Carb, 219 gears, air filter, craddle and header #62643Walt GiffordParticipantWell that narrows it down to about 5 different clutches, which one is it?
Walt GiffordParticipantI wouldn’t use front brakes unless the track was longer than a mile.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantThat’s the one thanks. Any others with that kind of deal?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantTwin air cooled reeds? yahoo!
