These pipes fall flat early. Run it as short as allowed to try and get some top end out of it.

You definitely need the right holding tool for your clutch.

Don’t use an impact gun on a crankshaft. Don’t use piston stops or hold it by the flywheel nut. Get a 5/16″ allen socket from Sears or you can put a piece of pipe over an allen wrench for more leverage.

If the taper is properly fit you only need a tiny bit of blue loctite and 25 ft. lbs. on the starter nut.

It’s not only the reed to carb gasket, that hole has to be clear up through all the gaskets and plates until it gets to the pump. If you put any one of those gaskets on backwards it will block the hole.

Hold your hand over the carb intake and crank the motor if it doesn’t draw fuel there’s something wrong.

You can just use high test from the gas station or racing gas, just don’t run it on methanol or use any nitro additives.

Any high quality 2 stroke racing oil like Klotz (Benol) or Blendzall (green label) will be ok and mix it 8 ounces per gallon.

The main thing about a used kart is to make sure the brakes work. I think NJMP opens next week, maybe I’ll see you out there.

P.S. If you’re into micro sprints perhaps you know my good friend Dave Orange. I sometimes do custom machine work for him.

Hi Jessica, I live in south jersey close to NJMP so, if you live down here maybe I could be a mentor as I have helped many people from time to time.

There is no Briggs World Formula anywhere around here. There was one guy many years ago but I haven’t seen him around lately. You might possibly have an ICA reed engine which was popular several years ago but has since died out.

You have a few options. You can run any engine at any event in the open class. This is a run what you brung type of thing and not serious head to head competition. You can also come out for practice days at NJMP almost any day of the week and pretty much have the track to yourself. Both are good ways to learn the sport.

If you want to get into a real race without breaking the bank I would suggest getting a used Yamaha KT100 and run in the Sr. Sportsman class at Englishtown. Please feel free to PM.
do the bearings have to be pressed in?
Hopefully.

My advise, unless there is a problem with the bearings, just get new king pins (that were made to be 8mm king pins not 5/16ths bolts) and leave it at that.

The connection of the fuel line to a Tillotson carb is notorious for air leaks try wrapping it again with 2 separate wire wraps also check the plastic cap for cracks under the nipple. Sometimes when fuel sits in a tank it can form goop in the bottom that will clog almost anything. Same thing if old fuel was sitting in the carb for long.

Another way out possibility, maybe a crank seal popped out or a reed is broke?

Mike, question still stands. Are you fielding a 206 kart and where?

Pour a little gas in the spark plug hole, if it fires and quits then it’s a fuel flow problem. Did you hook up the lines on the pump wrong? Did you wire tie all the connections? You could have dirt, did you clean the carb or at least check the screen under the fuel inlet?

Well the rev limiter tops out at 6K which is pretty much where you want to run a stock clone or LO206 anyway. The clone has a slight edge on a long straight but the LO206 pulls harder everywhere else so, keep the clone behind you one time on the straight and you’ll be gone. Don’t fear the clone.
Would anyone be interested in running a LO206 class at Etown or NJMP? I think it would be beneficial for turnout to have full body and CIK karts run together. Also would be nice to have a lenient tire rule so the oval guys can run what they have on a road course track. What do you think? Looks like some competitive, close, and cost effective racing.
Mike, will you be running an LO206 and where?

You’re going to have friction trying to spin the axle, it’s a wet clutch and it has oil drag. If the weather is cold it will be worse. I set mine up with .020″ end play, .055″ air gap and .285″ spring height.

The (Van K?) aluminum tank on my SRR has a small chamber in the back to delay cavitation. If you put a donkey dick in the top use tygon or other non hardening tubing with heavy brass end piece and leave it a good 1-1/4″ off the bottom, it will stretch down and get hung on the bottom.

You realize the Yamaha you took off that kart in the link is the same one in my SA Yamaha thread.

I guess LO206 means local option 206cc, a sealed animal short block with a mild cam? I did some reading and it seems the LO206 is slightly faster than a box stock project 196cc clone.

Probably what you’d have to do is run one in the RWYB unlimited class at E’Town and hope people see what fun it is and want to build a second kart. If you get 5 guys they’ll make a new class for you.

Why do you need 7-1/2 qt? the average race uses less than a quart. Get a 2 qt tank and you’ll have plenty of fuel.

I’m in but only if it includes clone motors. I have 2 clones and no where to run them so I won’t spend money on a LO206 unless I see at least 15 guys out there. A couple years ago there were about 5 oval guys from Wall that came to E’town with clones but they went back to Wall. Guess they didn’t like turning right lol. There use to be a clone club down at NJMP basically run for the kids but they didn’t get any kind of discount on track fees and I haven’t seen them around lately. I have a gold cup kart and a couple of clone motors but I’m a couple years late to the game apparently. I’ll be out with it on practice days at njmp and in the open (run what ya brung) class at E’town. Keep in touch.

Might help under heavy braking if you have front brakes. It would also help the front not to flex back only up and down. Weather that helps anything I don’t know. With two joints it could be said to be a moveable chassis component. Might need them on the rear axle with a bearing on one end lol.
