Walt GiffordParticipant
You have to pull the flywheel and coil off first and it takes a special tool to get the nut off and a special puller, a regular puller will ruin it. After that take the case bolts out. Then you need a steel bar that bolts onto the case across the end of the crankshaft to split the cases.
BTW none of that is necessary if you can straighten the PTO shaft. Just put the starter nut on up to the bent part then grab it with vise grips and bend it straight. Are you sure it’s bent? Sometimes the crank isn’t bent it just slips and can be re-aligned. Is the flywheel side wobbly too?
Also from another post looks like your clutch gear is welded on from running it in a parking lot and not oiling it? You can get that off and clean the bushing area with a file then polish.
If you take it to a kart shop they’re going to want you to replace the whole shaft and add crank sleeves new bearings and seals cost you hundreds. If you live near south jersey bring it by the shop and we’ll get it going or at least I can shoot you straight on what’s wrong with it.

Walt GiffordParticipantChecking prices I think I’ll enjoy my pure white helmet and 4 sets of new tires.

Walt GiffordParticipantAll you do is cut 3/4″ off the top and round it off in the front to blend it into the wings. If it’s not enough trim a little more. I use a saber saw and dust mask. If it has any edging glued on you’ll have to take that off and re-glue it.

Walt GiffordParticipant8 years old is the right age.
Walt GiffordParticipantIf you can find a Coyote Wide Track, that’s a good 4 stroke kart. LO206 will bolt right up with a 15 degree Burris mount.

Walt GiffordParticipantBore needs to be polished.
Walt GiffordParticipantYou never did it or I should never do it?
Walt GiffordParticipantWhat is a formula A kart? I know a guy with a 1990 Dap kart that might sell.
Walt GiffordParticipantSo glad I got out of road racing it really is much more dangerous than short track. Anyone who doesn’t run a double braking system in road race has their head up and locked.
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantAin’t never seen that before.
Walt GiffordParticipantThere’s 2 kinds of karts, off set LTO (left turn only) and straight up karts for road courses. If you have a straight kart just put the same tires on both sides and space them out the same and you’re good to turn both ways. If the rear is offset to the right just set up an oval and have fun that way.
If it’s a racing kart you’ll have a bad time on the average grass field. You need at least 4″ of ground clearance and turf tires for that kind of fun. I use to drive all around the neighborhood and the woods and fields with a Bronco kart but it was a very rural area and sometimes those trees will jump out in front of you.
People set up tracks in old parking lots all the time. It’s not legal unless you have permission from the owner but people do it. You just have to have some common sense about where light polls, buildings are and any traffic or cops that might drive through. The thing is old parking lots have allot of dusty crap on them and you’re almost sure to get a flat tire (that can’t be fixed) at some point.

Walt GiffordParticipantWell if you can practice there all day for $45 it shouldn’t be more than that.

Walt GiffordParticipantTadas, who told you Topkart can’t get grip the boys at Millville LOL they are CRG dealers. Take another look at the TopKart “Twister” and give Jimmy a call he’ll shoot you straight. 215-244-1940

Walt GiffordParticipantWhere can I find out about the classes WKC is running this year?
Walt GiffordParticipantWhat’s the entry fee?
Walt GiffordParticipantI think you just proved my point.
People will defend whatever chassis they spend a ton of money on.
Walt GiffordParticipantA kart is a kart, it’s just a steel tubular frame with 4 rubber tires. To say one is better than another is basically a popularity contest with todays manufacturing techniques. Here check this out: http://www.kartwarehouseusa.com/product-p/wf3250.htm
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantWhat kind of problems did they have, did those same people have success with any other kart brand?
Walt GiffordParticipantWell, horses for courses I suppose. I’m tall with a big upper body. When you see a pic of me racing in a pack you say look at dad racing with all those little kids but, we’re all the same age. Yes, it’s “funny” how a little extra vertical CG changes so much in chassis flex. Also not all tubing is created equal. I’ve driven a 30mm topkart that felt really stiff and a 32mm CRG that was a limp noodle. Even if you find someone on the same chassis there are so many variables you just never know how close to the point you can climb until you try it yourself.

Walt GiffordParticipantAll fixed, got my ad up thanks. Hey, are you THE Scott Dixon? That’s pretty cool.

I went shopping on the sites you mentioned and the link above. There seems to be some confusion to the ads. They all say front torsion bar but I don’t see it in the pics of the 30mm frame.
I think fasttech is selling a 32mm frame configured with 17mm spindles/8mm king pins and aluminum wheels and that’s why the price is the same as the 30mm frame kart? If I’m wrong that’s a great price, maybe worth a phone call.
The kart on MM racing is 30mm with 40mm axle 17mm spindles which I think is ok for world formula but not legal for LO206. I’ve raced a chassis that light in yamaha sportsman just to make weight and it wasn’t fun to drive on a tight track. Can’t imagine a TAG motor on it.
If I were going for Yamaha pipe or tag I would make sure I was getting the 25mm spindles/10mm king pins and a 32mm frame with the front torsion bar and 50mm axle. Looks like Acceleration has the best deal on that plus they say it comes with mag wheels.
I don’t think you could go wrong with this brand. A big plus, when you want cheap RR parts you don’t have to retrofit, they bolt right on there. Anyway, at that price I’m going to get one, just can’t decide which one for LO206 and my big torso lol.

Walt GiffordParticipantWho’s the dealer?
Walt GiffordParticipantWhere are all the go karts from China?
Gif
Walt GiffordParticipantYes, I guess you have to get an email to complete registration. Just want to post some stuff for sale.
