Brian DegulisParticipant
Traditional paint won’t stick to bodywork I’m not sure if there anything special out there that would.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantBoy you guys like to make things complicated. Just get it blasted it takes about 10 minutes and it’s not expensive. You don’t need walnut shells or dried Italian grape fruit seeds just fine sand. It’s quick it’s easy and your paint or powder coat will adhere much better to a surface with a profile.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantI started in 1971. No side pods No Bumpers the seat was not fitted and part of the frame and the screaming McCullough was mounted behind the seat. I got out of Karts in 74 raced cars for a few years then got out of racing completly. When I got back into karts 1 1/2 years ago I was surprised how much more contact there is today. The side pods and bumpers definetly make more contact possible. That being said they also provide a level of protection for the driver. I got T boned at a pretty good speed and had no injuries. If that had happened in a 70’s Kart I’m pretty sure the front wheels would have rode up causing the other kart to hit my body instead of just the kart.
I wouldn’t add or remove bodywork. I think what we have now is a good compromise.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantIs a shifter chassis on the horizon?
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantAnyone know how a stock CRF450 compares to a stock CR250?
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantRemember the words of Henry Ford ” If you think you can or you think you can’t your right”
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantMake it a tour Joe. You could do Ocala 103rd and Orlando all are great tracks for diffrent reasons.
I can honestly say I’ve never been bored at any track regardles of how many times I visit. Wether it’s the intensity of racing or a busy track day or if I’m the only one there I like it all. I stay interested because I know you can always do better. Wether it’s tuning the engine the chassis or finding the perfect line you can always get more. It also gives me the opourtunity to spend more time with my kids than anyone else I know. If it were easy I would have walked away from the whole sport by now.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantUNDEFEATED 10 years ago I’d be agreeing with you but at my age. Sure hope my wife never sees this.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipant
Great track to visit, however, Brian would be bored as hell if he drove the track 3 times a month. The track is high speed for sure but boring as hell. He would grow tired of blowing thru 5 gallons of fuel in a few hours and not even getting tired from driving. I look forward to seeing you and Mathew in Orlando and watching you on a real sprint track. Be careful 1st time out, the track throws a lot of technical and challenging sections at you real quick. OKC is a real go kart track;) Happy New Year Andy!
Your Crazy. My home track is ARP wich makes OKC feel like a leisurely Sunday drive. Seriously all tracks have they’re challenges but a 60HP shifter at Jacksonville is anything but boring in fact it’s better than sex!!!!!
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantWe finally made it out there. Awesome track!!!!! 106 MPH with the 4 stroke shifter!!!!!
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantThere are spacers on the top and bottom of both spindles to adjust the ride height and they should be the same on each side. Even them up and check it again. If it’s still off it’s bent but that’s no big deal. A kart shop with a chassis table can straighten it in a few minutes or Set it up on a flat level surface and prop up the rear axle level then measure the frame height at the spindles. If it’s off then then raise the front and support it in the center. Have someone sit on the rear wheel oposite the high side in the front then stand on the high side and bounce a little. Re check untill it’s slightly below level. If done right it will settle straight. Sounds rough but it works.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantWhat ‘s the advantage to a set of $800 wheels Vrs $200 for a set of DWT’s ??
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantI finaly got to take a close look at my Crg and DR together and yes the frames are diffrent. Many of the parts are the same but the frames themselves are not.

December 20, 2013 at 7:36 am in reply to: New to Kid Karting – Comer 50 to LO206 Conversion Questions #18209Brian DegulisParticipantTim I think your on the right track . I would sell the comer while it’s still brand new. I’ve never understood why a kid kart needs a $1000 2 stroke engine. The Briggs is definetly the way to go and it sounds like your skill set is more than enough to get one fitted on your kart.
When I started my youngest I wasn’t concerned about racing I just wanted him to get seat time. I adapted a Honda GX160. It was simple I bought an engine bought a clutch sproket etc bent the seat struts a little to the left and got it going. I left the governer in place so I could control his speed. It worked out great. Low cost low maintance and very easy for a child to control.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantYou might want to consider getting a front porch extension kit also. That will move the pedals forward around 6″. That will allow you to put the seat in the right spot for good weight distribution and still have reasonable leg room.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantThe raceiar reads adjusted altitude I think but it seams to rely on ADR for jetting. I’m not certain but I think the adjusted altitude is near 1000′. Isn’t the ADR the end measurment we use for jetting?
Brian
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipant
Brian DegulisParticipantHi Jimmy I got one after I started this thread. I think we’re 20′ above sea level maybe less. Anyway I got a good base set up and now I use the Raceair to adjust. I’m still a little richer than the other Honda’s but much closer to them now compared to when I started.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantI didn’t post that to suggest who’s currently involved. I posted it because it states that DR is Manufactured by CRG. So today where are the frames welded together is it the DR facility you mentioned in Acre or is it the CRG plant?

Brian DegulisParticipantWhat DR Factory? They’re manufactured by CRG.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantPossibly older chassis were slightly diffrent but today they are identical in all respects except for color and graphics acording to the manufacturer.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantDR J90 made by CRG. It’s identical bolt for bolt to the CRG Road Rebel but priced a good $1000 Less. DR or CRG parts are interchangable. In FL TS racing is the importer.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantARC has one called the Mongrel. It’s a modified Max Torque with a bearing instead of a bushing. We’ve had good luck with them.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantHi Mat
I’m sorry you had such a terrible experience with our product. I’m glad you weren’t hurt!!!! I wish you would have contacted me directly so we could have worked together to solve the problem. I think the mostly likely cause of the problem was improper installation and run in. I’ll gladly send you a replacement set at no charge but this time I’ll ask you to precisely follow the installation and run in instructions supplied with the pads. I think you’ll find our pads to be superior to OEM and as you mentioned you’ll save a little money also.
Sincerely
The way it should have been handled.
