Also, having worked for a safety shop, the best answer to this question is the one that fits your head, everybody has a slight different shape. I fit in a bell really well, and my brother cant wear one comfortable. go to a place you can try them on and try on several.

Daniel,
bell GP2 with the bell rear spoiler wing, it has a small lip spoiler ans gives very little lift. ive had it on at daytona in controlled, and my dad has worn his in BSTOCK. OG has them

Ive ran MG reds on a laydown forever ago (07-08ish). I cant recall them being bad. hoosiers are pretty popular and it was what my buddy was running on his sprint enduro before he “retired” last year.

Austin,
Separate things. i see quite a few people use nomex suits for karting, however i cant say that i would want to be in one sliding along asphalt, whereas a CIK/FIA tested karting suit is checked for abrasion resistance and usually made of cordura. also a kart suit will probably feel lighter and less hot on a hot day as nomex is an insulator. shoes and gloves should be fine for karting and car use.

Austin,
Yes, Sa2010 is good and will be good til at least 2020, SA stands for special application, and the biggest difference is that SA helmets will be fire retardant for auto racing.
Source of knowledge is that i work for a rather large safety supplier.

Other question is does your seat fit right? my hands used to kill me when i worked at a rental kart place, till i realized i was using my hands to brace and deathgrip on the wheel. +1 on the grip tape too

Hey All, coming from a different perspective (worked at njmp for a year and a half under both Hannen and Paape).
1) Unfortunately for us “pro” Karters, the concession karts make the money there. they are usually booked from open to close on weekends.
2) the big problem with “full” track practice is the change over. when i worked there i found out how much different the barriers and stuff have to be for pro karts compared to concession karts.
3) stay in contact with the track. if you want full course practice, call ahead and check. they might make time for you, i know we did it with both managers when i worked there.
@Steven, I wish you luck with it, it was one of my more enjoyable jobs.

agreed! I liked the track.
here is some onboard video if you want to see it from a laydown, the windnoise is bad but I really like the POV with the gauge.
