As for the promoter of Afton, THANK U ALL who attended!!!! Yep the numbers were down a little from the spring event but we who were there this past weekend, had a blast!!!!
Those who know THE MAN, knows that he doesn’t do this for a living. This sport has been a major part of my life since I was just a kid in which I enjoy very very much. As long as the bills get paid and everyone has fun, it’s well worth all the work it takes to put this event on. Having a great family and friends behind me to help, I can’t ask for anything else.
Congrats to all the class winners. In several classes, those winners earned it as we had more side by side finishes then we have had in several years.
Thanks to ALL the drivers for racing hard and SAFE!!!!!
THE MAN
Kelly ReadParticipantTime has come!!!!!!!
Haybales & fencing tonite. Everything else to put this event on begins at 08:00 on Thursday and hopes to be completed by Friday late afternoon.
Everyone SAFE TRAVELS and we will see you this weekend!!!

All that is left is to rebuild a couple of clutches for some people. I’m thinkn I may just have a SUPER labor day weekend………
Putn hay and fencing out the Wednesday and Thursday before. VOLUNTEERS???? Second thought no, I have Lindsay helping and I would hate to see her out work you all!!!!! LMAO.
Kelly ReadParticipantHAY Chris!!!!

Kelly ReadParticipantThanks MOM for posting this!!!!!
Be sure Mike goes over his kart REAL GOOD. We have Lindsay’s in the big trailer ready to go for Afton!!!
As for the entry form and event schedule, it is on the KART web site (www.kart.org). Hope to see every one there for race 7 of 8 of the KART/MARRS/RUSSELL KARTING SPECIALTIES series events. It should be a GREAT event!!!
Kelly ReadParticipantAce,
What chassis is this?? Margay??
As for leaving the frame bear, Ours are. It’s easier to find cracks for sure. We do spray them with some silicone spray or wd-40 after cleaning and inspecting before each race. PAINT doesn’t make them any faster!!!!!
Kelly ReadParticipantGot Lindsay’s done and ready to load come Thursday nite!! Unfortunately Brad “SHOWTIME” will not be able to make this event due to work. But to show is support, he will be entering 2 classes for this event.
Hope to see many racers at this event. FYI, MARRS along with Lindsay will be supplying bottled water at the scales for the driver’s as they come off after there races.
Sad news is that I have to ride there & back with both Lindsay & Jim!!!! LOL
Kelly ReadParticipantBill,
DNW. Several dropped out and didn’t weigh.

Kelly ReadParticipantMatt and anyone else interested in the pictures,
I have e-mailed Connie to get the web site. I will post it here as soon as I hear from her.
Kelly ReadParticipantWe use the size on the left of Bruce’s picture but our uses a 3/16″ allen wrench to install/remove. We use the 1/2″ long zus. We also use there thin plastic washer that goes under the head which protects the head from digging into the fiberglas. We get ours from JEGS.
You can get on Jegs (www.jegs.com) to see these. Put in the part numbers below in the search bar and it will pull them up.
Zus: 82203
Spring: 82256
Washer: 82256
Kelly ReadParticipantDITTO on Linda’s comments!!!!!! FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For good news to the Schrimpf family, THANK U James Denny & who ever else was able to help get there trailer to Tulsa. Even thou a lot of the equipment inside the trailer was damaged beyond repair, no one got hurt and that means a hell of a lot!!! As Scott told me, it was time for a new trailer anyway.
From the RACE DIRECTOR (THE MAN), Thanks to not only those that Linda mentioned, THANK U to ALL the RACERS & FAMILIES who attended!!!!!!!!!!! I have done many races let alone national events and I must say, this was at the top!!!!
It seemed that the weather was great, schedule worked perfect for everyone, racers did an excellent job getting to the line, raced hard, safe, and had FUN!!!!
I do apologize for it not being on RACE Monitor!!! We found out on Friday that the computer Maysha uses for scoring is not NEW enough for it (YUCK). I’m not sure RM could actually tell the real story of the racing. These racers were swapping positions like flies gathering around watermelon all over the race track!!!!
And to the racers, families, friends, etc who were there, from myself (THE MAN) along with the KART officials, THANK YOU for your comments on how well the event was ran!!!! This means a lot to us who not only you see working at the event but the time we spend before & after.
No matter where you are from or what series you race, GOOD LUCK & have a GREAT, SAFE & FUN remaining season!!!
THE MAN
Kelly ReadParticipantMT POCKETS RACING be pulling out Thursday am to head down and start getn things ready when racers arrive at 5:00pm!!!

Kelly ReadParticipant3 days and counting!!!!
FYI,
We will be able to let racers in starting at 3:00pm on Thursday. Areas coned off are for sponsors.
Will be mid 90’s for temps. PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to hot or to cold!! LOL
Kelly ReadParticipantLet the countdown begin!!!!!!!! 7 days before the gates open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As of now, we have “TOP NOTCH” driver’s from Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana coming to HMRC to compete in one or more of the 31 classes KART has available to compete in. With the stiff competition along with HMRC being a technical & fun track, I look forward in watching some of the best racing seen in ROAD RACING!!!!
INFORMATION:
1) Be sure to bring plenty of liquids to drink (not alcohol!!!!).
2) Be sure to bring lawn chairs. We are looking at having the Saturday night festivities down at the winner circle area. If so, we all will need to bring our own chairs.

Kelly ReadParticipantMike,
Back in our area under KART, we run the Bully adult stock. It’s a 6 spring/3 disc clutch. They seem to work real good. In road racing I would say that you need 21th gear on the clutch. As for a exact ratio for VIR, no help on that. We run from a 55 to a 60 at our tracks.
July 6, 2015 at 8:35 am in reply to: KART MARRS @ Motorsports Park Hastings (NE) July 11 & 12 #51046Kelly ReadParticipantChris,
And the problem with that is?????? It keeps racers like YOU coming don’t it??? LOL
FYI,
We have a racer who has rented the track on Friday so as you come in, just beware. I myself should be there by 2:00 on Friday. If you plan to park up on the front row by the guard rail, beware of the small orange cones that I will put out once I get there. This is where sponsors have requested to pit.
See you all soon!!!!!
THE MAN
Kelly ReadParticipantFrank,
As far as reliability, cost & maintenance between the engine and axle clutch, you would be way ahead with the axle clutch!!! I bet you could find a good used Horstman axle clutch if you ask around. $300-$400 is a good price. And with John Richie making parts for them, there are no issues there that I know of ( I have 7). SMC is a good clutch also but I haven’t ran one in several years.
Kelly ReadParticipantBy the article along with what I have been told, I feel certain that any KARTING events and other types of racing will go on. The bigger cars are the main issue from what I have been told. Will some type of silencers need to be added to certain machines, I see that happening.
June 23, 2015 at 11:36 am in reply to: KART MARRS @ Motorsports Park Hastings (NE) July 11 & 12 #50360Kelly ReadParticipant4 karts done and loaded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3/4 of my honey do’s completed!!!!! YUCK!!
Kelly ReadParticipantMatt,
If Ric can’t help you (he had better, I taught him everything he knows but not what I know), contact me at 316-218-3645.
What motor/class you looking at racing??
Gear ratio would be the main thing you would have to change from sprint racing.
June 18, 2015 at 7:28 am in reply to: KART MARRS @ Motorsports Park Hastings (NE) July 11 & 12 #50072Kelly ReadParticipantEntry form & event schedule is on the KART web (www.kart.org).
If you haven’t been to MPH, YOU NEED TO!!!!!! Great track and the track staff is AWESOME let alone the KART/MARRS people are also!!!
As for competition, the BEST will be there!!! BRING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND,
Along with Baldus Racing supplying the pizza, MT POCKETS will be furnishing the beverages.
