BURN OUT — when you ride a horse too hard, he will lay down and die.
Lets look at the last four years of sprint karting in the eastern side of the USA:
SKUSA — added one eastern event event and one more coming in 2017
WKA — added 3 extra races (winter tour) in 2016
USPKS — brand new — four more races each year
Gear Up Series — brand new — 5-6 races
ROCK ISLAND — RT.66 series — Rotax and RokCup Winter series — local series here and there — and some I probably missed
I think this says it all………………when too much pressure is applied to folks time and pocketbook, something has to give and they start staying home — they start picking and choosing.

Absolutely TRUE — not a rumor !! About two month’s ago I called my old friend Gary Gebhart at Horstman and got him a little stirred up on the idea of building a totally new axle clutch. The initial reception to the idea was a little chilly but after a couple more phone calls, I finally got his ear and now it is well on the way to becoming a reality. My main selling point was to develop a clutch that could serve all of the market needs, from the laydown road race kart with a 1.25″ axle all the way to a sit-up sprinter fitted with a 50mm axle. This of course required an entirely new design because of the much larger axle. Two prototypes are under-way and Daytona is the target to have these on display as well as on the track for the initial testing. The clutch will be an all new 3 disc design with levers designed to accept a wide range of weight combinations. The plan is to cover gear ratio’s in the range of 3.80 up thru about 6.5 to 1. At this time I am not sure of an estimated delivery date for the first production run but I do know there is already a waiting list underway.

less than 15# = 9 karts
average lead on board = 34.33#
..
I turned the info over to Tom Kutscher — what the future holds is with SKUSA.
My view is that the weight should be lowered — you can never please everyone so you try and please the majority.

More overpriced non-sense from Europe. Racing was better and the drivers were better when we only used four number panels and small tubular bumpers + nerf bars. All this plastic crap that has been sold in the name of safety and making the karts look more like race cars is a huge load of S — Follow the money for the real truth.

Great call to use the WKA pipe as opposed to older “peaky” models. Now the clutch is not a huge factor as in the past with the Yamaha class. This will make available new/cheaper dry clutches as opposed to the hard to find oil models from the past that are no longer produced in mass.
Hard to believe the YAMAHA is now considered vintage (started in 1977)
