DO NOT RUN PUMP GAS.
Been there done that and it cost me a motor.
+1 on the seat advise.

Is the radiator still available?

Tried to find the extended porch for my 2014 Kosmic Lynx without any luck. It is listed in the catalog but it does not exist…….really bummed. If I had known the extension was unavailable I would have bought a different brand kart that actually has the extended porch!
OTK…..are you listening?

Well yes it would fit behind the seat, but the switch would be little hard to reach :-)

Agree with the assessments on quality and possible lack of vision from Rotax. First issue I ran into is fitting the battery box, my Arrow chassis has a seat mount where the battery box should go and my XL seat leaves little space elsewhere:

Ten pound dead blow hammer works great. Just don’t get to carried away, little bit at a time.

Have watched the first two episodes and IMHO not really sure this will motivate many families to “take up karting”. What with only focusing on racers that are competing at a very high level in both $$$$$ and time, the motorhomes and transports are nice but…………showing some more humble efforts of folks working out of a mini van or pick up truck and just having fun might be more real.
The high dollar spin of the show probably discourages more than it motivates.
Just my $.02

It will probably take some time to happen……but these type of engines packages could be our future. Purpose built kart engines do have some advantages over a moto X engine adapted to karting, IMHO.
The 175cc would be a great Masters / Heavy class engine…..Hmmmmm

Have been running both TAG/Rotax and Shifter for the last two seasons and will confirm the Shifter kart is LESS EXPENSIVE TO RUN THAN THE TAG/Rotax. Chain and sprockets last longer, engine parts are cheaper and last longer, tires about the same life.
As far as driving shifter vs TAG/Rotax expect a long steep learning curve, the shifter much different, braking points, turn in, acceleration, etc……
Have fun!

Currently running both TAG and Shifter on race days. Jumping back and forth is a real mind game that I have not become comfortable with yet. However driving a Shifter the same as a TAG will guarantee you are the slowest kart in the race.

Like Steen said – It depends on your weight.
I race shifter with 2013 Kosmic Lynx (aka:TonyKart) at 210# with gear and run the 32mm, kart and driver weigh ~420#.

Sorry, you will need the to upgrade to the “easy start” ignition to totally fix the starting problem.
However there is a alternative: You cam run a 12 volt and 6 volt battery for an 18 volt system that actually spins the starter fast enough for the old style ignition to fire. This 18 volt dual battery solution does work but is a bit of a hassle charging the batteries separately.
The new “easy start” system works very well.

Probably pre 2013 since in 2013 the new pedal system was standard.
Follow the serial number and measure your tube diameters to find your answer.

Looks like a very sweet package.
If the demand were there maybe a direct injected two stroke in the future. The direct injected two stroke outboards and snowmobile engines form Rotax are simply amazing.

Lots of good advise being offered here. The single speed karts are the best place to learn good driving skills and proper lines. Spend a season or two in WF or TAG and then go for your shifter if the idea still appeals.

Just finishing a Kosmic Lynx 32mm chassis with a Stock Moto, 1999 CR125, so this topic is very fresh for me. Here are my thoughts:
1. Chose the stock moto because it is a popular class in the Northwest.
2. The Kosmic Shifter chassis is designed for the ICC package and fitting a stock moto is more work. Many times I almost switched to the ICC rather than continue the fitting of the moto engine where it was not intended.
3. Stock Moto parts are cheaper, a lot cheaper.
4. The Stock Moto seems to be a very durable package and a little easier to tune.
Have not been to the track yet with the new kart, still sorting it out. Hoping all the work will be worth it. Would I do it again? Not sure – installing the ICC would have been a lot easier.

Make sure it is full before each race day and change it at the end of the season. More than that is just a waste of oil.

+1 and you may want to see what the difference is with and without the driver in place. Frames flex and the setting are often not the same.
