Good Article: Sadly, karting has taken the path of the rest of the world. It’s all about “ME”. I was pulled out of a football game once by my Father, for what he considered a cheap shot- certainly wasn’t intentional, and 50 years later, I’m still not sure it was a cheap shot :). But, I was loaded up and taken home, from a high school football game, right then. He wouldn’t even wait until the game was over. I learned a lot- in his house, If you weren’t Trying your best, wasn’t dedicated, and wasn’t the best sport on the team, you didn’t need to play. I’m not sure how you are going to get all of these coaches, parents etc to all of a sudden become better people. The win has become too important- but its that way everywhere you look, not just in Karting. Until you have people taking their drivers off the track, the second they make one of these overly aggressive moves, you have no choice but to hope the sanction body does.
Ric mcDadeParticipantJohn- feel free to call or text me at your convienence. Ric- 417-496-0428.
Ric mcDadeParticipantYou can call Russell Karting. 888KARTING. Jim Jr was the importer. I have the very same chassis/engine combo. The MW scales about as well as anything we have ever seen.
Ric mcDadeParticipantFeel free to call me, and I’ll do my best to answer your questions. Ric McDade 417-496-0428
Ric mcDadeParticipantGreg, you forgot to have him check the pulse hole
Ric mcDadeParticipantYou need, to get a thermostat housing in your line headed back to the radiator. Put your sensor in it. Tony is right, it will read different, right at the head. Braided belts work good for me, but I run them straight off the axle, no pully. I think you will see a difference. I do not run a thermostat in warmer weather, only when it starts to get cold.
Ric mcDadeParticipantThanks Glen!!
Ric mcDadeParticipantGlen- I need a crank, or at least a RV side half for a TT 38. Would you check around over there, and see if you could come up with one? Please and Thank You!
Ric mcDadeParticipantLinda- I see both sides of the fence, both of you friends, but I will say up front, I’ll spend my money with the guys who have continued to keep parts available, even though without my friction disk/floater sales, I might become homeless. :)
Ric mcDadeParticipantKelly would be one of those “people smarter than I”. Knowing him like I do, there is something to be asked about the “pretty much” statement, and he’s not offering. What did I miss?
Ric mcDadeParticipantAce, I hope I’m understanding the question right. Your looking for how, or maybe where you set your engagement? There are a lot of people a lot smarter than I, but here’s my routine. In the pits, I fire it up, make sure its warm, bump the clutch a couple of times, with the brake on, to get it warmed up, and then let the brake off, and hammer it. I take notice of the RPM engagement, let off the gas, and then while rolling, hammer it again. Again, making a mental note of engagement. Knowing the RPM range I think I want, if for some reason, I am way off, I make the adjustment in the pits, before I ever hit the track. The first lap or two, I am checking temps more than anything. I can feel if the clutch is way off. Then, I pick the hardest/slowest corner on the track, and pay good attention to where my clutch is slipping coming out of it. I always set my clutch in the hardest/slowest corner of the track. Then obviously take it to the pits, and make any necessary adjustments. I’m not sure you can get a perfect reading in the pits, and I think the only true reading you can get, is when you have the kart bound up the most, as in the tightest corner of the track. Can’t say I’m right, but I don’t remember ever seeing anyone do it any different.

Ric mcDadeParticipantWith you a 100% on this Ace, maybe 200
Ric mcDadeParticipantSounds like a push to me.
Ric mcDadeParticipantI would think that would tell you that the Frts are workin harder than the rear, but certainly not by much. Probably need to hear more about what you experienced in handling, how the tires gripped etc.
Ric mcDadeParticipantI had a high compression Vortex, seem to limit top end- bought a PVL with built in timing retard, and the thing would zing to 16,500 on a road course with no problem. I’m not very smart, but was it the retard that let it go, or am I the retard?
Ric mcDadeParticipantI will take the gears. 417-496-0428, call or text, or email ricmcdade@aol.com
Ric mcDadeParticipantI too have had a similar problem- TAG Leopard- Mg Yellows- finally decided that if I could get inside tire to set down quicker, it would help. Tightened the rear bumper and bar- better. Made axle stiffeners out of PVC, for a quick ck, problem gone. Little stiffer axle now, and like what I feel. I’m not real smart, so listen closer to these other guys!
Ric mcDadeParticipantWon’t hurt a thing! I have top-bottom- side- and sump tanks on my various karts, all with different motors, all work fine.
Ric mcDadeParticipantMake sure you tie wrap the fuel line at all connections, but I get minor air bubbles too
Ric mcDadeParticipantI would look at fuel delivery first, make sure tank is clean, take any fuel filters out of the equation, fill your tank and then pull the line from the carb and let in drain in a can, make sure the stream is large and consistent. If it is, then take a second look inside the carb and make sure you don’t have anything upside down or backwards. Ck your reed block/ carb, and make sure your pulse holes are line up and you don’t have a gasket blocking it.On your throttle, you need a return spring on your pedal, and not just the carb.
Ric mcDadeParticipantContact me at 417-496-0428, call or text, or email is ricmcdade@aol.com
Ric mcDadeParticipantIMHO,
your inside rear is staying up a tad too long, letting the kart get free, and when it finally comes dn, you have the push. Try an axle stiffener first, it’s the easiest way, at least for me.
Ric mcDadeParticipantSimilar situation, sprayed above an let it run down, did that turning on all four sides. Worked great
