Linda BaldusParticipant
If anyone is thinking about purchasing a “better quality” helmet I got a message from SafeRacer that they have 20% off and free shipping on all 2010 Arai helmets.
Here’s the link to the karting helmet if anyone is interested. The eye portal is not large enough on this helmet for my guy and we usually buy Bell helmets, but it is a heck of a deal.

The way most orgs write their rules, I would think a 2010 would be good until a year after the manufacturers come out with the 2020, or 12/20/21.Linda BaldusParticipantIt’s a laydown class that runs for 45 minutes. But if you look over at Sec. F 10, you can run a situp chassis w/ full bodywork w/ a 15# weight break or a situp w/ CIK b/w and regular seat @ a 35# weight break.
Linda BaldusParticipantIf you were thinking of getting your kid into karting, you sure would want to get them either a TOP KART or TONY, right?
Linda BaldusParticipantPer David’s daughter Amber Sarsycki Simmons: Service will be held at Hibbs Funeral Home Saturday March 21st at 2 pm. 2190 Harper St Choctaw, OK. Afterwards everyone is invited to Dad’s for a get together in the back of the property (20884 SE 29th, Harrah, OK). Please tell anyone that may want to come celebrate Dad’s life with me.
Linda BaldusParticipantThanks for that info Bill. That makes sense.
Linda BaldusParticipantAnother great banquet. Thanks to the Read family once again for everything they do for KART MARRS.
Good food, companionship, fun, etc. Prizes were great. A full set of laydown bodywork, color of your choice. Thanks to Mark McNaught for that. MyChron 4 gauges, GoPro camera, caster/camber ??. Bully clutch, several sets of tires. Plus everything else. How could you miss.
A shame there weren’t more at the swap meet. The weather was perfect and so was the bench-racing. Mike sold some stuff, and got a sun-burn.
Good fun!
See everyone @ Lake Afton April 25th and 26th, if not before. “Let’s go racing boys (and girls).”Linda BaldusParticipantI had only watched a little of the very first episode because I had found it not a kind of karting that I was interested in. I know from past experience that you could spend that kind of money on karting if you had it, or even if you didn’t for that matter! But I don’t think that is really what the sport is about, so I had just decided to not watch it. But I have been kind of following this thread and also having people asking about the sport from having seen the show. So it has to be a good thing.
So then I watched the last episode, and as Brian said ” kartlift blurred” and I was also wondering what that was about. Someone must not get along with someone or didn’t chip in??Linda BaldusParticipantA true class act.
Linda BaldusParticipantAfter I made the original post I remembered something about David I wanted to share. I will never forget when he brought his girlfriend, who happened to be a stripper, to Garnett and on Saturday night, she did! Jamie McMurray was just barely a teen at the time and they told him he couldn’t stay for the show. He told them “My Dad is an IKF Director, and if you don’t let me watch, there will be trouble!” They let him stay.
And of course, his last “motorhome” had a pole ready for the next stripper.Linda BaldusParticipantI have heard WKA has hired someone to run the office very recently, so that should be taking shape. Give it some time.
And I’ve also heard someone representing WKA has been to Bowling Green this week to look over the Corvette Museum facility.
Both are pretty reliable.Linda BaldusParticipantI don’t have a dog in this hunt but I just found out there’s a huge following with a lot of input from Bill McCutcheon on Bob’s 4-cycle about this subject if you’ve got a day to read it all. Here’s a link: http://karting.4cycle.com/showthread.php?41505-Akra-official-announcement
Linda BaldusParticipantI’ve said this before on this site but perhaps it bears repeating.
My hairdresser has two kids that race moto-cross. Up until this past year, they were pretty well big-time. (The oldest, who is a girl, is now 16, and has a lot of “other interests”.) They did lots of big races, such as a biggie in the spring in TX, and Ponca City, OK. FL Thanksgiving. And “Loretta” every summer. And they did a MO state series every year plus a couple of local tracks.
We got to talking about how much they spent one time, and I was totally shocked when she told me they had no insurance passes they had to pay for at the club and state series’ races!
I have no idea what happened (who paid what) when one of the mothers died when she was run over by the guy grading the track on Saturday night. She ran out onto the track to save her dog from being run over, and —. She was behind the grader and it backed up, not having seen her back there.Linda BaldusParticipantThat’s good info to know, David.
One thing that amazed me is, and I think I have this right, Mark said “I just built an admin tool so that we can do the subscription sharing from our end.”: I’m thinking perhaps they had not had this problem before and so he just wrote something to fix it.
I’ve been waiting for 2 years for mylaps to fix something that came up when they did their changeover!Linda BaldusParticipantOnce again, race-monitor made it almost as much fun as being there, w/o the rain.
And I want to add that I had some issues this time that basically stemmed from my old ineptitude, but Mark @ race-monitor was great about helping me w/ them. I emailed them and expected to hear back next week, but had a reply within 5 minutes. Then he stuck w/ me until I got everything righted. Great company to work with. I was thinking they must have something to do with MyChron, they were so customer-friendly. (Unlike the Swedish folks @ mylaps!)
Thanks Mark.Linda BaldusParticipantBob V. said: ” WKA I think is one of the only series around anymore that is a member own org.. I hope someone can correct me if I’m wrong,”
As far as I know, IKF is still member-owned, and I absolutely know that KART is member-owned.Linda BaldusParticipant17×68 is a good starting place for the Yammies.
Linda BaldusParticipantThe plan is for Bernie and Pierce to be there. Both will probably be running the reed jets.
Linda BaldusParticipantI think they worked real hard to “try” and have some better weather conditions for our 2015 season. I can see at least 3 dates that will undoubtedly NOT be cold!
And with at least two weekends between every event it should be a great season.October 11, 2014 at 6:37 am in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #35137Linda BaldusParticipantHere’s the link to the mylaps results: http://www.mylaps.com/en/events/1087322

It is so much fun, I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t get everyone’s heart pumping! Sure proves you don’t have to go that fast to have a blast.
October 6, 2014 at 6:23 am in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #34900Linda BaldusParticipantAnother KART National Championships is history.
So great to see old friends from the east and west, along with a lot of faces I didn’t recognize. They, along with a lot of hard-working folks, make our event the success it was.
Thanks to all.
(P.S. Those Hegar guys are FAST!)September 19, 2014 at 3:55 am in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #34043Linda BaldusParticipantHere’s a link to the entry form and schedule: http://www.kart.org/Forms/2014_Oct_HPT.pdf
It says the gates open @ 7:00 on Friday.
Linda BaldusParticipantAnother great weekend of racing has passed. To look at the forecast earlier in the week, you would have thought it was going to be rain a good part of it. As it turned out they were wrong. Rain overnight Friday and then 2 glorious days of clear beautiful skies.
Thanks again to all involved in putting this event on. It takes a lot of physical labor when hay has to be thrown (and put away after it’s over) but the advantage when much of it is volunteer labor is that expenses are kept to a minimum so when the turnout isn’t great, it’s still good enough.
Read Family, Chris Ragan, Shannon, John Crider, KART Everything Girl Maysha, new flagman Nick Edgington, etc. Thanks.
Fun times.Linda BaldusParticipantApple pie’s ready.
