August 25, 2014 at 11:02 am in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #32571Kelly ReadParticipantRacers have asked if the garages up on the 2nd level are available??
YES!! $100.00 per day. Includes electrical & air (no hoses I think). If you are interested, contact one of the track managers (Dwight) when you arrive and they will take care of you.
I THANK all those who have PM, e-mail, text or talked to me in person on what I have put together to make the 2014 KART/MARRS RUSSELL KARTING SPECIALTIES ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIPS event something special. Seeing 300+ entries will make it worth it!!!!!!!!!!! Come on racers you will not want to miss this event.

August 19, 2014 at 1:48 pm in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #32295Kelly ReadParticipantUPDATE:
1) We have added a SPRINT BRIGGS LO206 class. 16+, 375#, sprint chassis/CIK bodywork (14″ max nassau panel), gas (NO ETHANOL), engine rules per 2013 B & S LO206 rules. RLV 5506 or 5507 pipes with RLV 4104 (B91XL) silencer only. This class will run in the same races with the B & S Animal Sporstman and jr classes. Runs for it’s own awards including the famous TRIAD like all the classes will be running for.
(Maysha will get the event schedule located on the KART web revised and re-posted soon). She will also have the classes sponsors with each class. Keep these people in mind and be sure to thank them at the least.
2) ALL classes including the above now have class sponsors!!! THANK YOU ALL who sponsored a class. 37 classes total and all having a sponsor is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No reason anyone can not make this event now!!! Only thing left would be a weed eater class NOT!! LOL
3) All LOWER parking is full. Plenty of parking up on the UPPER level but no electrical.
THE MAN
Kelly ReadParticipantI SECOND what Linda has stated!!!!!!!!!!!! FREAKN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not 1 red flag!!! (knock on wood). If anyone seen any class that didn’t have great close racing, let me know as I didn’t see any!!!!
I may have had a big part in giving everyone a place to run but if they don’t show, a lot of work (calls, e-mails, texts, etc) just goes out the window. THANK you all from my heart for supporting this event. These types of events make those who work so hard feel so good!!!!
I’ve already had 3 calls today thanking KART/MARRS for a great time. THANK EVERYONE both MARRS & those who haven’t ran with us, you all did excellent!!!!!
Now it’s bragging time!! MT POCKETS had a great weekend. Lindsay figured out the trigger on the k71 and was fast, Brad was a rocket in his controlled and was quick in his Piston Port but has some things to change in the driver’s department on that kart, Jim was quick in the Animal and won on Sunday and most of all, both guys who STOLE both of my Animal rides had a blast and even ran in the top 2 and one of them actually won on Saturday. Dam I’m a hell of a mechanic!!! LOL
Here is better news:
Even though the track surface was much better then in previous years, come October, the company who did the repaving is coming back to see what needs to be patched after a full racing season has been done on the surface and take care of them. I had conversations with the track management and they asked me on Friday to tell them during the weekend if there were areas that we felt needed attention. I did tell them that there were 4 main areas (not terrible) that the karters felt could use some attention. Luckily these are the same areas the rest of the clubs (cars, cycles, etc) said also. So look out 2015!!!
Speaking of 2015. June 6/7 & August 1/2 are dates we will be back at Hallett in 2015. Put em on your calendar.
Again, THANKS to EVERYONE who attended.

Kelly ReadParticipantI don’t know much of the MG’s but there are enduro racers who run them but those are mainly shifter racers but I wouldn’t be afraid to try them on enduro racing especially if I already had them. I would question why you are going to a wider tire for enduro racing?? We ran and the driver who drives our sprinter now runs 10/4.5/5 on the front and 11/5/6 on the rear (Bridgestones) and both drivers were/is fast. From our experience, wider for sprint and narrower for enduro including narrowing up our chassis. Not sure what tire pressure you run on sprint but in enduro I would go lower (12-14). We always ran higher AP on sprint vs enduro.

Kelly ReadParticipantAGREE!!!
We run the DID on our animals in road racing. I change the chain out at the beginning of the season unless I do something STUPID. Proper lubrication is critically. We run chain wax .

Kelly ReadParticipantDaniel,
What MFG kart is it??
Give Roger Hatcher a call at Hatcher Enterprises (918-346-0432) and he can make you one up. He does top notch work and has built several bumpers for the KART racers. He would need the ID measurement of the tube you would be putting the bumper on. I would measure the c-c of your rear tires for the width.
Kelly ReadParticipantYep, there are several Tx racers coming up as I have had several calls and e-mails from Tag, Shifter and laydown racers.
As I told the others who have other Tag engines besides a Leopard, we will add a Sprint TAG SR or just a Rotax Sr. class (which ever they prefer) each day and will put them in the same races as our Sprint Stock Leopard class and be scored separately when we get to the event.

August 4, 2014 at 8:31 am in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #31448Kelly ReadParticipantUPATE:
Only 3 classes left needing a sponsor. You or someone interested in sponsoring a class, let me know (donnaandkelly@hotmail.com or 316-218-3645). $200.00 per class. You get a reserved pit spot (if you wish), T-shirt, name on that class awards, announcements. Let alone being a major part of one hell of a event!!!!!!!!!
I’m very impressed with the comments that people have e-mailed or text me that they can not wait for this event to happen. As some of these racers said, MT POCKETS and other KART/AMARRS racers have traveled to various parts of the country over the years and supported those events so it’s time to go to there event and support them. Yes we have always enjoyed those events and just from us, we are happy to see some of those racers coming back to our play ground.
August 4, 2014 at 7:37 am in reply to: KART MARRS @ Hallett Motor Racing Circuit Aug. 16th & 17th #31445Kelly ReadParticipantThat is CORRECT, NO FRIDAY PRACTICE.
Like most of those who have/do run KART/MARRS say, ” why pay more and wear equipment out when our organization gives us plenty of practice each race day”. I can’t dispute this!!!!!!!
MT POCKETS has all 5 karts done and trailer is loaded!!!! Sure made it easy on me only having to get 3 completely ready and change gears on the other 2.
Bad thing here is that now I have plenty of time to do the remodeling we have talked about doing. UGH!!!
Kelly ReadParticipantQUALITY!!!!
Kelly ReadParticipantBrandon,
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Some advice:
1) Have someone else tun it on so we don’t see your ugly mug right off the bat!!! LOL
2) Could you install wipers or tear offs on it so so it is clear the whole time!! LOL
July 28, 2014 at 11:19 am in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #31047Kelly ReadParticipantUPDATES:
1) We have added B-STOCK to race 8 on Saturday. It will run/scored separately with the Unlimited, Control Spec I and Sportsman I classes. UPDATED event schedule will be posted within the next few days on the K.A.R.T. web site (www.kart.org). B-stockers will be combined with Unlimited as ONE class on Sunday.

July 28, 2014 at 9:27 am in reply to: KART MARRS @ Hallett Motor Racing Circuit Aug. 16th & 17th #31041Kelly ReadParticipantTHANKS MOM for getting this event posted. You got up earlier then me!!!! LOL
Some information:
1) If you are interested and willing to commit to a paid practice on Friday, let me know by text or call (316-218-3645) ASAP as I need to know by August 4th. As of now, it would cost $150.00 per driver up to 20 drivers. If more commit, price will drop. I have a racer willing to put up the money BUT, only if there are enough drivers committed.
2) Race fuel is available. They have Sunoco purple 110 and 104 GT plus (which I believe doesn’t pass but we will test it when we get there). Sam Lindhardt does carry some VP110 but if you are interested in it, let me know so he can bring xtra.
3) Car ports: Cost is $80.00 for 1/2 or $160.00 for the whole port for the weekend. Contact Connie at (connie@hallettracing.net or 918-585-1900. If you can’t get a hold of her, contact myself at my number above. You can see the layout on there web site (www.hallettracing.net). FYI: 1-4, 5/6, 11-16, 21/22 are taken.
4) Entry form and event schedule is on the KART web (www.kart.org). NOTE: We have added Sprint Tag Sr. to races 1 & 6, Sprint Chonda to races 3 & 8. These will not show up on the schedule as it has already been posted.
Got a question, contact myself at the above number or Maysha at the KART office (918-283-1877)
Hope to see you all there.

Kelly ReadParticipantI second Linda’s comments!!!!!!!
I did have conversations with both Ron Anderegg and Greg Gwin who have been a big part for many years of putting this event on along with sprint races at Garnett about future road races at Garnett. I left with the impression after speaking with them that we will have events for 2015 ( no guarantee). Some details need to be worked out with them, people wanting to take it over, city/county officials and with us on dates which will be done over the next couple of weeks.
As for the racers, I know having 1 weekend off between Hastings and this event didn’t help especially those south of Kansas. I wasn’t able to get my own kart done but I did enter both days to support this event and NO I am not a rich man!!!! I understand not everyone can make every race as parts of MT POCKETS missed this event and have missed races over time due to various reasons out of there control.
Scheduling 7-8 races isn’t easy especially with our time frame to schedule events (April – early October). The MAJOR tracks just don’t give us any date we want even for THE MAN. Garnett & Afton have issues also even though they are parks. Between Memorial and labor day weekends this is there busy boating, camping, etc time of when they bring in there major incomes so we are limited on dates during those months also.
Those few of us who do the scheduling try and will always do what we can to get at least 2 weekends off between events and try to schedule events so where people don’t have to travel far back to back but there are times we don’t have a choice. If just the local racers who hadn’t gone to a earlier event would/could show up to the event close to there home, that would make up for those who travel far and not be able to make it.
Anytime any org losses a track and can’t pick another one up, that is less races for the racers. Racing 4-5 times a year isn’t worth the cost in my opinion to do something I myself have done for many years.
So, as I have said on many forums, SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT!!!! When it’s gone, where are you going to hang your road race karts??
Kelly ReadParticipantLast MT POCKETS kart loaded!!!

Kelly ReadParticipantI was told Russells expects next batch of tires the end of summer which I’m guessing in September?????
I know CKI had some 5.5/11/6 RH2 tires as I bought some a few weeks back.
Brad ran the Firestone 11/5.0/6 YLH tires all around on his CKI laydown with a controlled motor at MPH this past weekend. This track is not the easiest on tires so it was a good time to experiment. He didn’t finish the entire 45 minute races but, he started the weekend with USED (1 weekend already on tires) tires all around. With 2 days of practice and 2 races, he probably ran 1+ hours on them and all looked good at the end of the day. He was fast but when you don’t take the checkered, who cares!!!!
July 16, 2014 at 10:53 am in reply to: 2014 KART Enduro National Championships @ HPT Oct. 3 – 5 #30392Kelly ReadParticipantFYI!!!!!!!
Due to the response I have received, we will be adding one last local option class (B-STOCK) to the schedule to race 8 on Saturday. The weight is 465#. If they want to run on Sunday, they will run in the UNLIMITED II class in race 10 on Sunday.
Maysha will get the schedule changed and re post it on the KART web site.
Kelly ReadParticipantGot both trailers unloaded from MPH Monday nite and ready to start in working on karts tonite.
It would be real nice to see everyone at this event to support Ron Anderegg on his last race that he will be promoting as he is going to enjoy RETIREMENT after this event.
As for the future, there is a group of people who will be taking over this event. THANKS to those involved.
