    ATTENTION!!!!

I just talked to the track owner at MPH and there will be a concession stand. There was some miss communication. They offer a buffet which they charge a certain amount up front in which we felt we wouldn’t have enough of our racers interested.  The regular concession stand will be open during our lunch time both Sat & Sun.

Electrical power: There is electrical on both the front row and the far back row if you are interested.  $60.00 for the weekend. George will have them all on come Friday and will come by to collect during the weekend or you can pay Mike up in the control tower.

I and Lindsay should be there by 3 as we are pulling out of Wichita at 9:00am.

    See you all there

The KART/MARRS-RUSSELL KARTING SPECIALTIES ROAD RACE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS event and entry forms are now on the KART web site (www/kart.org).

As for the local option classes rules, I have asked Maysha to post them on there also. More then likely it will be added to the other forms as a page 3??  As for KART rules, if you are not a current KART member or not sure of the rules, call or e-mail me and I can let you know the rules for your particular classes.

Remember, you draw for your starting position for this event.

Look forward in seeing everyone there October 3-5.

3 days and counting before LOAD day !!!!!!!

    FYI,

We should be there by 4:00 – 5:00 the latest (Hoping earlier).  A few things to know before you unhook:

    1) We have workers and sponsors who have reserved pit spots. These are against the guardrail behind the hot pit lane. 1) Baldus racing will be on the East side of the gate where we go onto the hot pit lane, 2) Larson racing will be on the West side of the gate. The gate they will be at is the one about 1/2 way down the front pit area.   3) MT POCKETS will be down by the registration/scoring tower just on the East side of the tower.(2 – 24′, 1- 8′  trailers).

    2) If you don’t have some wood to put under your trailer jack AND awning legs,  be sure to pick some up at the trailer as you first pull into the pit area where you sign in for passes. MUST HAVE SOMETHING UNDERNEATH!!!!

On a road race sprinter, when we ran it we ran Bridgestones 10/4.5/5 YKC or YLB with Firestone 11/5.0/6 YLH and ran up front and had NO issues.  I know racers who run a sprinter now use Bridgestone 10/4.5/5 YLC or YLB on the front and the Firestone 11/5.0/6 YLH on the rear. NO issues.

On laydowns (Piston Port), we  run Firestone 11/5.0/6 YLH all around.  Brad is going to test his controlled with the 11/5.0/5 YLH all around at MPH next weekend at MPH. He has only ran controlled once and he had the 11/5.0/6 YLH on the front and the 11/5.5/6 RH2 on the back. He thinks the 5.0 YLH will work but we will see. He is hoping a 1/2 in width along with a different tire/compound won’t hurt.

We like these tires do to we can normally run 1 set the entire weekend (practice and 2 races).

We have ran Dunlops & Maxxis and they were OK but we just like what we use today.

EVERYONE has there own thoughts, recommendations, favorite, etc., we just like this tire!!! Until we don’t run up front or these tires are no longer available, this is what we will use.

BOTTOM line: Use what best suits YOU!!!

The event schedule I had put together after some revisions has been approved. Once I get someone smarter then me to post the schedule here (if possible), It will be on here soon. If not, I will have Maysha go ahead and post it on the KART web site (www.kart..org) and let you all know.

Pits will be open from  5:00pm – 10:00pm on Thursday.  REMEMBER, NO ONE goes in until WE (Jim/I) say it is time to go in. We have pit spots we need to mark off for our sponsors before anyone goes in.

As for the rules, I am putting together the local option class rules as I speak and will have them posted here soon. IF you have any questions on them or any KART rules, call me at (316-218-3645) or e-mail me at donnaandkelly@hotmail.com.

    Chris,

+1/4 on each side. We set ours up with driver in kart with wheels pointed straight. NOTE, this does change as you turn the steering wheel.  Our set-up is based off of track testing. There are a few tracks we set up at +1/2 or even at 0 but most tracks we run what I mentioned above.

    Looking forward to MPH !!!

    FYI,

    1) The event schedule and entry form can be found on the KART web home page (www.kart.org).

    2) I had some racers earlier in the year from MI ask about having a G125 shifter class (35+, 420#) at MPH. We didn’t put it on the schedule but, if any of these do show, we will put them in race 4 on Saturday & race 9 on Sunday as of now.

    3) If any Sprint tag 60cc Jr.s want to race, that class will be in race 3 on Saturday and race 8 on Sunday.

Now that Jackie has bought his own kart, I might be able to drive one of my own 2 karts instead of Shannon’s at MPH!! Doubt if Torey will have his new kart done in time so he will have my Margay.

Between putting all new bodywork on Lindsay’s (thanks to Shannon for stepping up since Jim is out of town), making modifications to her old kart for Brad to put his P.P. on so he doesn’t have to change motors between the Open & P.P. races, setting his kart up with the reed jet, fixing my kart from Jackie hurting it (pulled bolts out of exhaust) kind of busy around MT POCKETS RACING right now. Then I get to work on Jim’s!!!

    LET’S GO RACING!!!!!

I have finished the KART/RUSSELL KARTING SPECIALTIES road race national championships event schedule for HPT October 3-5, 2014. I have sent it to the directors for there approval. Once approved, I will post it so you can see how the schedule will be.

I have already received a few class sponsors and am accepting sponsors as of now. If you are interested, cost is $200.00 per class. You get a reserved pit spot, name on all your class awards, name on advertisements (including the event schedule) PLUS, YOU get to be a very important part of a SUPER event!!!!! BIG THANKS to Ron Anderegg, his family and friends who helped put this event on!!!

MT POCKETS RACING had a very good time on and off the track!!! Won’t discuss the off track stuff but will say that we did find a nice quiet ESTABLISHMENT on Saturday night!!!!!

Congrats to my son Brad for winning both Piston Port classes. Him & Austin Henry battled the entire 45 minute race on Sunday with Brad beating Austin to the line by a kart length. What a great race between them. As for THE MAN, super weekend!!! I set a couple records!!!  1) Ran more laps this weekend then I have in 3 years TOTAL. 2) Took the checkered in Sundays race and and even finished 3rd. Had a heck of a race with Mike Baldus, Scott Schrimpf and Jackie Oaks. Being part of 4 karts side by side down the back straight was awesome. I can’t even guess how many times positions changed but  I can say that all of us were in different positions several times per lap.  Thanks guys for the great race, brings back great memories!!!

    FYI,

I will have some HPT DRAFT event schedules at this event and will be talking to racers to get their opinions. PLEASE be sure to see me through out the weekend. Would like to get that schedule finalized by July so I can get it out to ALL the racers and start getting class sponsors.

Track, kart & driver makes a difference in our experience. We did find out that we can’t run the same castor & camber on a Coyote as we can a CKI. Coyote doesn’t like positive camber and very little castor by our testing. Best we found on a Coyote (narrow) with Lindsay in the kart is 12 castor and -1 on camber. We have tried several combinations over the past 2 years and have went back to that. The CKI (as for Brad & Lindsay), they like 8-10 castor and + 1/4 – +1/2 camber. Right now we are at 8 castor & +1/4 camber. Works great on a Comer P51!!! It seemed to work on a Reed Jet at Afton but we had other issues. We always set toe at 0. We set our karts up on a level floor with the driver in it.

Some people don’t believe we set up our karts like this but, follow them through the turns and you will see the difference!!! Just look at there tires. Pretty obvious that they run +camber. Everything we read says ( – ) camber is best but they talk about short wheel base, suspension, etc… Our belief is that we run long wheel base (not a sprint kart) with low center of gravity. I do know that we have went faster then what we used to use. Keep in mind, what works for my kids might not work for others but until you try it, you will never know. I know it can be work but, I recommend taking baby steps when experiencing. Having a kart set up right is more important than a fast motor in my opinion.

    THE MAN is back!!!

Had to down load a different browser as Internet explorer wouldn’t allow me on.

    Bryan,

Let’s hope “SHOWTIME” does a hell of a lot better at Garnett then he did at Afton!!!!  Shouldn’t have any excuses at Garnett as he is only running Piston Port both days (leaving reed jets at home). His kart is ready to load!!!  If he races like he performs on stage, look out competition. Maybe we can get his band to perform at one of the events????

Going to be a boring weekend without Lindsay though!!  She has a wedding out in western Kansas she is maid of honor for and won’t be able to make it to Garnett. Hopefully if we get my kart fixed, THE MAN will be back on track.

I did hear that the Garnett Inn & Suites were full (must be a wedding??). We ended up getting rooms in Ottawa.

    See ya soon.
