I’d say you are at a good starting point. I’d put the ride height centered to start and don’t be afraid to go s little lower on pressures for longer races. I’d also run a few millimeters negative camber and try taking some caster out as well.

X2 with what Dave said. Lower on the pedal will make a big difference

I was looking at the Douglas SE wheel and I’m going to assume it is not a forged wheel and is simply cast like the rest of the Douglas mags. The shape of the SE is an obvious copy of the MXC though

Don’t forget to put all the other carb adjustments back to where they were when you started. You should not need to deviate much. Sounds like a float issue to me.

Again, there was no floor pan bolt drama. If you watch again all the karts are on the grid.

Many scenes are pieced together to make create drama. For example Malukas did not win from last after changing engines. If you look he crosses the finish in his Yamaha and not the tag. He also didnt win the rain race in tag after spinning. That was also a Yamaha at the finish. But hey, America loves the comeback/underdog story.
Let’s be real here. It’s not like potential karters are going to see this and make the decision not to race. Even if a couple do, far more people will be seeing karting for the first time and become interested. A club president in Ohio said he has already had new people contact him because of the show. That is proof enough for me that the show IS good for karting

America doesn’t watch poor people on tv shows. They watch rich people. On house hunters are they ever buying an 80,000 house?

I agree very dramatic. Especially since I was the one that put it on and it didnt happen like that at all. She was in no danger of missing the race. All the karts were still on the grid. But watching I felt like cole trickle trying to beat the pace car! Haha. There’s little truth to tru tv. It’s just entertainment.

I wouldn’t get too carried away comparing OTK bodywork. As soon as you touch someone with it they get dented in and likely become worse than any nose on the market as far as aerodynamics. No cik nose is going to direct the air over/around the driver so any differences between styles will be negligible IMO.

Even with all new equipment a 206 package can be less than 3500. No you can’t do that with a 4500 otk kart but you can with a comet eagle or similar American kart. Point being tell your friends karting isn’t the cheapest sport but it’s not expensive either unless you make it that way. Enjoy the show!

Stay with the 710 on the world formula. The best thing to do would be to get some short American pattern hubs and buy some wider wheels to stiffen the sidewall. 8 1/2″ van k machined wheel is what I would recommend. They aren’t available in that siZe in metric is why I said American hubs.

No that should be fine. And being the new style pipe you should not be having this issue. They aren’t much different than a can as far as clutch abuse. Likely misalignment, chain tension too tight, or a crank issue. Sean will get you straightened out I’m sure

What is your clutch engagement? If you are slipping too high it will make a lot of heat and eat through the bushing and disks

Very valid point guys. I’d say we still get many new karters each year but people are staying for less time than ever. I can’t stand when people say they are “moving up” to legend cars or some local stock car. There’s simply more competition in karts. This culture is as much the problem as anything.

Cook racing engines. He worked with RLV when they first came out and builds great and always legal tag engines. Even better he’s located in northeast Ohio

A few things seem odd. First I wouldn’t think it would even be possible to get .097 air gap. Was there any friction material even left?

To address you current issue you needed to have the pressure plate resurfaced so that it is flat like the new floater and disks. Springs could also be fatigued and need replaced. The easy decision wpuld be to send it to comet to be rebuilt next time. Stall speed will always need adjusted after a clutch rebuild. The decrease in air gap will lower your clutch rpm significantly, just spring tension decreased as air gap opens up from wear.

None. And you arent alone. It’s not good for Jr or Sr when it comes to tag engines. Jr’s need a different engine for skusa, wka, and uspks. The fragmentation between different series couldn’t be worse. Everyone is pushing their own agenda$$$. Far too many options out their right now so no you cant just take your yamaha can and go anywhere and race like the old days. Vote with your wallet and pick one series that fits your liking. Knowing you personally, I would run uspks and some route 66 in can if I were you. It’s affordable and gives you more flexibility than tag. I just cant see investing in a leopard at the moment and with uspks not using the x30 I wouldn’t want to limit myself with that either. There is no perfect answer that’s for sure.

It’s absolutely crazy to look back on all the political nonsense that lead to this moment and think that wka is actually member owned. The system in place is obviously flawed since the members didnt really make the major decisions that lead to their downfall. I’ve been a member for a long time and I didnt choose the previous or current people in charge. It is very hard to find someone with both a passion and drive to grow karting without having a personal or political agenda.

I believe more track time will be due to more laps for each session, not more sessions.

Under this type of format it is not the norm to run multiple classes like has been so popular in wka. Quality vs quantity is why I believe the cost is higher under this format. So instead compare prices to skusa and uspks assuming track time/laps are similar. Btw I have not done this.

Of course it’s “undetectable”. Wouldn’t make for a good rumor if it was. If the current machine doesnt detect it, it’s likely because it isn’t turned on which I’ve witnessed already…

And just like that the drama is building :)
