FREDDY SANDOVALParticipant
I agree with TJ Koyen
The X30 is very strong and reliable, and you can still get great deals out there, many other older TAG packages may look attractive and cheap, but will cost you more in the long run.
Honestly the new KA100 will blow your mind versus the KT100, will last longer, will feel more powerful and more fun. You can still get some smoken deals out there, and does not need to be blue printed, just bolt on and go, and it will be fast out of the box, will probably compete with and older stock TAG 125 motor, or be pretty close to it.
I would buy either an X30 or KA100 period.
Or if you’re on a budget and just wanna have fun, you can just buy an LO206 and it would be pretty close to a KT100 with an can. Except no rebuild costs at all.
FREDDY SANDOVALParticipantwhere did you set up your toe at?
How much caster do you have?
What air pressures are you running?
Do you have enough weight at the front of the kart?
What tires are you running?
Is this track smooth, or rough?
And does it do the same thing at any track? Or all tracks?
I’m assuming your seat position is correct, and your weight distribution too.

You PMed me stating you sent me a text last night
Sorry, we were racing for Skusa today, just came back home, checked my phone, and there aren’t any texts from you, please try again, or PM me with your cell phone number, Thanks, Freddy.
FREDDY SANDOVALParticipantBill, welcome to karting.
I have 3 complete nice karts ready to race, unless you’ve already bought an engine for your future chassis, then I can sell you just the rolling chassis.
I have 3 to choose from.
Text me, or call me. (858) 717-2191 Freddy
FREDDY SANDOVALParticipantAnthony, you and your Dad will have lots of fun in this class, We’ve ran all classes, from shifter karts to LO206, and this class by far is the most fun, cheap and less stressful to race with, racing other classes can get very stressful, especially when you have 2 drivers running at the same time. LO206 once you figured out your gearing for that day and set up, then you’re good to go all day, just keep your chain lubed and inspect chain tension every outing.
The answer to your other question is, any kart will do, but you don’t wanna get one that’s too old to compete, or one that parts are all worn out.
We’ve ran so many different brands, and in reality most 2 cycle chassis can be converted to 4 cycle and do just fine, but many manufactures have stepped up their game with 4 cycle specific built chassis, and they are a bit quicker.
Our Tony karts were pretty fast and we had lots of fun with them, I just bought a brand new Mad Croc chassis and I wanna test it out this season, but I was doing just fine with all my other Tony karts. Do you know how many drivers there are running LO206 at your local track? Here in Cali and many other states that class got real good traction for a few years now, and it continues to grow very fast, because it’s so much fun!!!!! And Cheap!!!!
I do have 3 OTK complete karts available if you’re interested, they are very competitive and look nice, I only put half a season or less on those engines from brand new, text me if interested (858) 717-2191 FastFreddy.
Here’s a video from where we run LO206 here in Cali, enjoy.
FREDDY SANDOVALParticipantHi, Anthony! Welcome to the sport! We have raced many different classes though the years, and honestly LO206 is by far the most economical way to go, we ran yamaha’s Can and Pipe, and the LO206 is just as fast as the yamaha can motor at our local track. Extremely cheap to run, no clutch adjustment, no carburetor tuning. etc, just a little maintenance and go!!
The engine will last you at least 3 years, but could be 5 years if maintained right. This class will really teach you how to drive, as you can’t afford to make any mistakes.
John is right with the OTK chassis, we have about 5 of them, but honestly there are a few companies that are building LO206 purpose made chassis, with smaller axle and spindles, and they do perform better, we do have a hard time catching them, but the other karts are very competitive too, it all depends what you wanna do.
Do you already have an engine for this kart you’re buying? or is it a complete turn key engine/kart ready to go?
What kind of kart is it, and How old?

Good and fun clean driving too, your Son is very competitive, and so are the other kids.
Overall nice video, Thanks for posting it buddy.
And Traylor I knew about the lube, just thought it was more fun the way I described it, but yeah, you’re right! It shows up on my bill every month (Lube Fee) Lol. Good stuff buddy!!!!!!!

Enjoy the video from Willow Springs international raceway ( Streets of Willow) And Streets of Lancaster GP, it’s kind of like Long Beach Grand Prix, but for karting.

January 28, 2018 at 7:26 pm in reply to: What is going on with karting; is the climate shifting or something? #90650FREDDY SANDOVALParticipantI love your questions, your eager and wanting to learn more and more about karting, and wanting to find out what is wrong with our sport.
However, some of your questions you ask may not have an answer, or just may not be important enough for the big names to answer. Karting is a sport, but it’s also a business. Things do change a lot, just like everything else around you, some of your questions need to be directed to the root of the industry, not the drivers, consumers, team owners, etc. Some times we have no choice but to move on, along the way we get screwed or find benefit in new changes. Look I get it! there are lots of things I hate and love about the sport, I wish things were different too, but they’re not.
This would be like me complaining about modern cars about electronic throttle body, instead of cable operated, or ABS brakes, or the abundance automatic transmissions rather than manual transmission/gear boxes, push start buttons rather than a regular key????
I don’t think they make car commercials asking us if we’re ok with all those features, we just get bent over and take it. In reality Do you think all that will go back to how it used to be?
TJ made a good point, If you stay away from karting for a few years, and then check back in, you’re gonna find a culture shock with changes, but if you stay in it you will see things better, and will understand why the changes happen.
I hate changes too, I hate having to change cell phones, I hated back in the day when they told me I had pay extra for my new smart phone, since it had network (internet ) I didn’t really need it or want it, they just bent me over and gave it to me with Vaseline included.
Don’t give me wrong, I am a strong fighter and refuse to give up that easily, but I honestly think you are on an uphill battle, some times you just have to pick your battles and enjoy the ride. Or some times you can win the war and lose the battle.
Problems do exist everywhere, even in F1, MotoX, Nascrap, and all major motor sports, there are lots of people unhappy.
That being said……. Just relax, get involved, have fun, race your kart for a season or 2, by then you will know what to do next, plus you will have plenty of info available to you, and if you still wanna re invent the wheel then hopefully by then you will have all the contact info to all the major organizers, builders, importers, responsible people for the direction the sport is going, then you can approach them, and give them a proposal.
Please don’t take this the wrong way, but 1/2 the people here may not even know the answer to your questions, nor the root of the problem. Mean while, welcome to the sport, buy an X3o, KA100 for more affordability, Briggs LO206 for dirt cheap maintenance or a shifter kart, but please don’t make the same mistake a few have made, thinking you will become the next Indy car, F1, Nascrap star. Just enjoy karting and do the best you can.
Now Can we put this to rest and move on? You’re welcome to ask more honest questions about how to get you started, on what class, and performance wise, no more politics.
FREDDY SANDOVALParticipantVictuah!!!!!!!
This is FastFreddy, hope you’re doing well buddy!
Did you end up buying a brand new one or what?
Hey, I’m hungry, you still owe me a Black Angus dinner, Lol.
Anyhow, just heads up, for all potential buyers, Victor is a very straight forward guy and maintains his stuff very well, not to mention his kids are very fast and competitive, very fast kart too. Buy with confidence. FastFreddy.
FREDDY SANDOVALParticipantSorry, Greg. I knew I was gonna mess up at some point with my spelling
I’ve made a correction.
This is so silly, I knew how to spell his name, and still managed to do it wrong. Lol.

Peter is correct
Karting looks easy, but in reality it is very difficult to drive, it’s not the same as driving sports cars, or race cars, they do drive differently.
Driving a shifter kart is very difficult and very fatiguing , not to mention a very steep learning trial, with tuning, gearing, chassis handling, set up and tuning of the chassis alone, it’s way too much work, and you may not have enough time to help your family while you’re trying to figure out your own issues.
A 4 cycle LO206 might be your best choice, so that you can play with your kids, while you’re having fun.
But if you’re sold on shifter karts, then it will be cold turkey, and I say have at it.
There are many options here in this forom on the classifieds from racers that are looking to switch to new equipment, but the biggest factor is so that we can point you in the right direction is:
Find out your local track, club, and see what formula of engine package they run, so that you are legal. Most of us run the SKUSA Legal 01 CR125 Stock Honda package, but there are many other clubs running TM and other ICC engines for their 125cc shifter class.
And if this is the direction you wanna go, you can find many karts here available, I’m actually selling 2 almost brand new packages, my Son runs 125 shifter karts with SKUSA.
Let us know if you are interested, and we can make you a smoken deal. My PM is not working here for whatever reason, so if you want any other additional info you will have to email me at fastracerfreddy@aol.com
Thanks, and welcome to the sport. FastFreddy.
