Brian DegulisParticipantHey Ricky
That’s going to be a challenge I’ll start thinking about it and see what I come up with. I’m in FL and own a company that builds tug boats. So lots of welding fabricating equiptment and machine shop at my disposal. See if you can come up with some ideas or drawings for a control system. I’ll build it and ship it off to you for free. PM me or email trainman484848@aol.com

Brian DegulisParticipantI was watching our local news channel and they did a piece on how watching TV makes you fat. They surveyed a number of people and found that those who watched 4 hours or more of TV per day had a much higher percentage of fat people in the group. A non thinking person might be led to believe that if they were reading books or playing video games instead of watching TV they would lose weight.
So does some of the same flawed thinking apply here? Is it just the newer chassis or is it because the guys with the newer chassis tend to be more dedicated in general? I think we would all agree that a new chassis won’t do much for someone without the skill to drive it.

Brian DegulisParticipantIt’s a great idea I wish it was around when I started with shifters. I’m solo sometimes or with my youngest son who’s to small to push start and I’m to old to do the push and jump in thing. First I set the engine to idle and put a kill switch on the wheel. I use an electric lift and I make an aluminum plug with a 1/2″ center bolt that fits into the axle on the right side. I put it in 6th gear and spin the axle with a Coleman starter. Then put it in neutral and lower to the ground.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantTo many karts I think I’m up to 12 but I don’t count. It’s a fantastic driving experience and real competition for the shifters but I’ve had my fun with it and time to move on. Plus I’m traveling more now with the kids racing and have less time for track days.

Brian DegulisParticipantI’m no expert but I would think if the ignition circuit in the box (I’m not sure there even is one on the unit I had the box was starting circuit only) were getting fried then it wouldn’t start with the external starter. When you go to the external starter all your replacing is the starter and battery it has no effect on ignition except that the cranking speed is much higher with the external starter. If you only get spark at a very high cranking speed then your problem is in the ignition maybe stator or coil.
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantSo after you try turing over with the box then the with that box you have no spark even with the external starter?
Brian
Brian DegulisParticipantThe external starter probably turns it over much faster than the on board starter does even with a good hot battery. You might have an ignition problem that’s requiring the higher RPM of the external starter to make a good spark. Does it run well after you get it started?

They’ve relaxed that but if your to loud they will want a longer silencer and air box. When they get a complaint they start enforcing it a little more so it’s best to try to get as quite as possible right at the start. I’m in garage 8 over there stop by and say hi.
