I had this same issue.  I tried to use amy MyChron wheel on a Birel shifter chassis.  I purchased the Wildkart clutch lever and it does NOT work with the MyChron wheel.  In fact, I couldn’t find any set up that allows a MyChron wheel to work on a shifter kart.  Maybe the CRG set up mentioned above might be worth looking into.

At the practice day on this layout I heard guys in the Stock Honda class running 18/23 saying it was too much gear.  I ran a 17/22 and it was fine.  I’m 6 ft. and 210 lbs in race gear.

I’ve had this problem with mine also.  Play with the foot control, it may need adjustment.  If not, it’s possible that it needs a new switch in the foot controller.   I had to replace mine.  I needed a switch, new cord, and some tire lube.  Costs me 77.83 euros.

I have one of the Hegar starters on my Stock Honda, and while I had a couple of installation issues, it has been worth EVERY penny I spent on it!  I’ve had it on for a couple of races so far, and this starter and an electric Kart Lift stand were the most important equipment investments I’ve made karting wise!  They make running a shifter kart a ‘one man’ event, since I no longer need someone to help me lift and lower my kart, or get it started on the start line… Especially a wall start!

Especially for ‘taming’ the DIS security!  When I was there 3 years ago, it was quite a different scene than from this year.  This year it was fun to be there, and not be hassled for having a bike or scooter in the garages. I installed one on mine after a couple of the guys I road race with told me that they were doing exactly as you stated above.  At race’s end, they’d stay on the throttle during the ‘cool down’ lap, and as they approached the pit lane entrance, they’d kill the power and coast to the scales.  Then they could get a good read on the plug.  I’ve hardly ever used mine, but it’s there, and I haven’t had any issues with it.  I now have a starter button located next to it, as I have installed a Hegar 4 starter on my Stock Honda.

I’m on my 3rd, but you wouldn’t want to buy either of my 2 old ones.  I’ve flipped twice, and scraped them both up pretty badly.  Too bad, as the 2nd one was my favorite helmet.  I liked it better than the one that Mike Savage painted for me to replace it.

18/22 is a good gear, I’ve been using it for the last several years there.  Almost impossible to say what the jetting would be, as it’s going to be dependent on so many things.  I use a SwedeTech fuel system, so my notes wouldn’t be accurate for you, but the weather at LS is the biggest determining factor.

The RV’s use the Lake Lloyd campground, which has water and electricity.  There is also a truck that comes through every evening to pump out your holding tanks for $35 a shot.  When I was there in 2011, there were approx. 10 or 15 RV’s in the entire campground.

I JUST talked to WKA on the phone about this.  On your registration, put ‘temporary’ on your registration form, and apply and pay the $20 at Daytona for your temporary license.  They’ll ask about your previous Road Racing experience, and issue you your license.

Your wrench boy Noah Stark turned me on to the ‘football style’ padded shirt last year instead of a Ribtect vest.  I started wearing it this year, and I like wearing it a lot more, and although I only road race, I don’t suffer from sore ribs any longer.

John, we run the road course configuration, which is what the Rolex 24 runs, but we don’t use the ‘bus stop’ on the back straight.

How right you are, Chris!   Renting either of these tracks in the summer months is VERY cost prohibitive.  It’s why we run Sonoma when we do.  And Laguna Seca has a lottery for dates, so it’s very hard (if not impossible) to get a date, let alone multiple dates together, and that aren’t 9o dB days. And since LS holds the lotto twice a year for the dates, that would pretty much eliminate the advance advertising needed for people to adequately plan for an event like this. Multiple dates at LS require using the paddock overnight, which cost us a HUGELY ridiculous amount of cash for the overnight paddock rental fee. So I wouldn’t put much hope in having a RR National at either of those tracks during the summer months.  The NCK BOD has discussed it several times.  There’s no way to break even, let alone make any money, and the club can’t afford to do it.

Anyone on here know who to contact for renting a golf cart at Daytona?  I had a card from a guy who was doing it when I was there in 2011, but I called him today and he’s no longer involved with it.  Anybody there last year rent a golf cart?  If so, who did you rent from?

Problem solved.  ISC (Daytona Speedway) rents the karts.  I’m first on the list.

I’m 5′ 11″ 200 lbs and run an extended porch on my Birel, which I road race.  I added the porch after setting a new Tillet 9.5 seat in the kart and putting it tilted as far back as allowed.  This cut down my wind resistance significantly, but left me no room for my long legs.  The porch has taken a couple of races to get used to the new positioning of my feet, which now ride atop the front frame rail, but I’m now very comfortable in the seat.
