      Thanks guys for the input!

I’m going to go with the 1/4 Milwaukee 18V.   The M12 1/4 version just wasn’t powerful enough.

Getting the nuts started and final tightening will be done by hand, but the inbetween will be done at a slow speed.     Looking forward to breaking the 24 lugnuts loose on the 4 karts between sessions to being a cakewalk now.

The Inner harbor was an awesome place to have that event- I worked the event last year, but those roads really tear the cars up.

Our team- AC-Racing, had our 3 karts on display promoting karting all throughout the Milwaukee Indyfest/ Indycar race weekend at the Milwaukee Mile this year and last year.

I had the exact same symptom and I’m in the Komet Sr class.  After trying several carbs, and at the recommendation of Franklin Motorsports, I put on a new coil and the issue was taken care of.  The kart now had power like I’ve never had before coming up through the rpm’s and also previously, during the pre-race formation lap, the kart could barely stay running.  Now, it’s no problem to run that slow of a speed with the needle at 1 1/2 turns approaching the green flag.   Also, make sure the ground strap from the coil to the motor is tight.

My axle was shifting during this past race weekend and while doing so, it was tighening up my chain to the point where there was absolutely no slack in it.    My kart’s handling was also all over the place too.   The Ny-lock nuts I put on at the start of the season and were unable to keep hold.  I replaced all 6 nuts and also instead of regular washers, I’m using lock washers as well-  got them nice & tight and the problem has not re-occured.

I had several talks with Patrick last season while working some of the ALMS events at different tracks and not a negative thing I can say about him.  He’s always looking to improve as a racer and his head is in the right place.  Joey is a great compliment to him and they work great as a team.  To bad they lost the Lola at Petit last year, but.. that’s racing!  the bect of luck to them both.

No problem Freddy, I’m trying to figure this out before it gets too close to the race season.

I forgot to mention that the 2 sets of rear wheels I removed had been on the those karts since our last race in October.  All together, 11 of the 12 nuts came off after only a few seconds of having the impact on them (not too bad of removal time), but that impact gun couldn’t break loose last one so I had to use my normal breaker bar to remove it.

Our team ran 3 karts in 1 class last year, and tire changing by hand was killing our efficiency and ability to make other changes between heats.  Now this year we are going ot have a 4th kart running in the team so we need an impact that can break wheel nuts loose quickly and then drive them back on.  Final torquing of the wheel lugs will be done with a torque wrench- but that’s a tq value we’re still looking for.   Bill, to what tq are you tightening them to?
