The portable hone isn’t a flex hone. It uses the same mandrel seen on the AN600 mandrel which is the mandrel I prefer to use when honing a briggs block or FV cylinder in my Sunnen machine.

That looks like a support, yet its main purpose will be to force more air into the carb. LOL

It is possibly better than one big series. The 2 series race dates do not compete. One has 8 dates and the other has 4 dates which gives the racer a lot of control over how much racing they want to compete in. Plus having 2 series competing for racer turn out produces more awards for the racer rather than awarding 1 series control over all the races and racers.

I wish I had a 2 seater. I have to put my dog and cat in my little red wagon to pull behind my kart. They sort of act like they like it after I get them bungee corded in. It all almost fits under some cars when I can get it up to speed.

Brian, I have been using an industrial parts cleaning solvent, they fill my fuel jug up at a race fuel distributor. Last time it was $9.95 a gallon.
A clutch and a carb is a part isn’t it?

I like to use this with solvent, yet paint thinner or WD works too.

Less than a quart of solution takes off the grime, cleans out the bearings and makes it reading for a rub down.

James O’Brien, Going from 20 parts gas and 1 part oil, to 32 parts gas and 1 part oil is not adding more oil to the mixture.

Take out the set screws Then squeeze the collet and push it out over the ribbed inner race. Reinsert the collect once the bearing is in the cassette.

Bob’s forum still has the animal, LO206 and Flathead sections to post all a person would want about racing Briggs motors. I do also feel the vibe Bob and some of the clone followers have against the Briggs name that has formed over the last few years. This sites posters haven’t always been the most welcome towards briggs and clone racers in the past either, yet over time that has changed some. It’s not that hard to keep up to date with kart racers questions that are posted on booth sites and in my opinion it would only hurt kart racers that need help if I would choose to only participate on this site only. If I was paying these sites to sell my products I would most likely have a different stance on my participation with in the forums.
Things do change over time yet I still hope that karters will continue to have more than just one popular place to go to in order to share their racing experiences. -

Just turn the streering wheel and lock it at zero camber. Instead of spinning the tire and wheel and waiting to see where and how it stops. Tap the top of your king pin bolt with a hammer and watch the heavy part of the wheel and tire roll to the bottom. Generally placing two smaller weights at 2 o’clock and 10 o’clock will balnace out quicker than one heavy weight at 12 o’clock.
The cord overlap (heavy area) runs across the inner part of the tire at a 45 degree angle. Put a mark on the outside of your tire where that bulge is at when it passes the center of the tires inner carcuse and then mount the valve stem ligned up oppisite to the mark.
It is also interesting to mark the tire and rim to watch for the small amount of tire rotation that accures from use and effects from mounting lubes. -

I try every day to keep up with post on this site. I click the Forums Tab and then choose
“New post since last visit”. I do get to view the first page of new post, yet if there has been enough traffic to have a second page the second page comes up blank every time.
I think that happens with the search as well. I think I read a few months ago where EKN knows about this problem and were going to fix it yet IMO an important tool that a regular viewer would utilize is still broken. Maybe you could slow down the flashing adds frequency a bit to make the forum side of the web site work better?

Chad, With an inertia chassis dyno the “sweep time” is controlled by the final gear ratio on the kart and the power out put of the motor and chassis. Simply put if you make more power or change the gear ratio the sweep time will change, just like on a segment of a straight track.
If you wanted to test longer or shorter sweep time the karts gear ratio would have to be changed until you mimicked your desired sweep time that you have predetermined to be the sweep time for your testing. That also eliminates the need to mimick arrow drag because your on track sweep time all ready includes the drag so the karts gear ratio would have to be changed from on track gears to the proper dyno test gear that makes the sweep time the same for booth types of recording.
The only other method that could be used to change the sweep time on an inertia dyno to match on track sweep time would be to change the inertia load or weight.

Ray, Like Jim said “same way every time” air density included.
-
November 6, 2013 at 7:06 am #14816Rodney EbersoleParticipant
That is interesting Ray, It sounds like the odd readings we got with the Pavesi.
A few things that may be influencing the readings. My rotax turned over at starter rpms with a full charged battery, should make note of that rpm. Be sure full throttle is applied during tests. Squish measurement should be recorded with the test along with air density.
I haven’t tested my new build yet. I have a starter bolt mounted inside my rear axle so that I can us an electric starter on it. I will get that reading then compare it to a reading with a few pulls of the strap around the tire. But what gear should be used when starting and testing? I use 2nd gear usually yet right now I have 14 X 28 gearing on it for ice racing which is regulating the cranking speed.
