Mike, we had the same thing happen to one of ours.  It’s seems to be a matter of over tightening the hose clamp.  They fit very tight anyway, so just be very gentle with the screw driver!

Well that is disappointing as I barely tightened the clamp. Local guy said he thought it was over tightening as well.

Either way I over paid for a new one!

      Thanks

Someone will invent an air filter support arm.

That looks like a support, yet its main purpose will be to force more air into the carb. LOL

The spec filter hardly needs a support.  They are TINY!

Though it’s probably illegal, we trimmed off the split piece on one of ours and stuck it back on.  Works fine.  I don’t know why I bothered, we have two new spares in the tool box!  And I suppose if we were going to a race where somebody cares, we’d put a new one on!

      Just sayen’

Doesn’t matter how big it is, if the vibration hits it just right it’s gonna crack.

I’d send it back to Briggs and ask where they’re having these things made. Looks like crappy rubber to me.
