depending on how accurate the tire temp sensors are you could possibly find out what certain adjustments do by adding a steering angle sensor and comparing tire temp to how much you move the steering wheel you can also find the optimal average tire temperature and rework the equation to find the optimal air pressure over a one lap run this of course is if your like a robot and can make identical laps every time, but with hundreds of laps and hundreds of trials im sure you can get really close…. thats just what i picked up in my short term with the Colorado State Formula Sae team… but i would also like to see how you did it i was interested in something like what your doing for a while

my step by step process to airpressure is such
1. tire testing!!!!
2. find out how much each tire grows when you do a 10lap and 20lap test session or if your local track does a different format do however many laps they do for heats and main event ( note best way to do this is set all tire to the same tire pressure) also have someone else take tire pressures IMMEDIATELY after you get off the track as soon as you stop using the tires in a “race” setting they start to cool off and you get an inaccurate reading.
3. after you have established how much each tire grows try to get all four tires to grow to the same pressure( remember to continue to do your local racing format)
4. once you get your tires to all come in at the same pressure start playing with tire pressure. You want your fastest laps to be 1-2 laps before the end of the race. (remember when in doubt always go lower, you want to go lower because if the tires are over pressured the kart tends to go flat and start pushing and life happens)
5. more tire testing those who know their tires the best win races
6. win races

I agree with TJ harder axles generally take “grip” away this is my experience with crg and crg variant chassis. also shorter axles with take exit grip away. longer softer= more grip, shorter stiffer=less grip atleast in my experience best way to test this is go to the track and see for yourself

my experience is that you need drive the kart differently with newer/grippyer tires. More grip= more potential rolling speed. also kart setup plays an important roll in this situation. you may have to much grip in the kart when you add grippyer tires try pulling castor out of the kart, harder axle, shorter axle, higher airpressure, or more positive camber if none of those help try the right foot.

pro tip: teach the kid how to bump start the kart its super easy. 1. it saves your back and it teachers him/her how to restart the kart if he/she goes off track also it saves weight and cost. Also you should be more worried about taking the kart on and off the stand hurting your back. Them little kids are light weight so the kart will have to make up the difference in weight. If you need instructions on how to bump start the kart give me pm.
