So, Marc, what’s the status of this project? Is the motor available or did you get it shoehorned in there? :)

Be very careful with aircraft stripper. It works, but even doing it outside with good breeze, I inhaled some and burnt my lungs as well as experiencing rapid pulse and tunnel vision… USE A RESPIRATOR!! I’ve recovered for the most part, but don’t take chances — one mistake can end a life or permanently change it… I’ve since wire brushed ’em, used other strippers, sandblasted, and media blasted (walnuts/soda). Now it’s worth my time/money to let somebody else have the risk and hassle. Blast plus powedercoat is around $200 here. Good luck…

I used a DOT4 from local auto parts that claimed it was a high-temp application… Otherwise I grab what’s on sale. I’ve heard some people use ATF too.

Lenny — still using that Titan I sold you? :) Glad you don’t really want Extreme brakes — that BS1 system sucks! I should know, I rebuilt 3 of ’em. Good luck with your racing and sourcing brakes….

Contact “charlie stoffa” aka CRS#27 I think, on Bob’s 4-cycle and he can point you in the right direction. He’s a dealer and works with the German HQ on ’em. There’s a few for sale in the bob’s 2-cycle classifieds too. Good luck — they’re a fun ride.

How much are you asking for the TRX450? My winged outlaw needs a powerplant…

Gif – when all they run is 1 KT-100 class, you run their rules, and their rules are a soup can at this point. I’ll discuss with the others in the class about the switch… :)

Please post answer once you’ve found it…. you’ve piqued my curiosity.  I would’ve guessed faulty brush routing too much current through 1 comm leg or carbon bridging a comm leg…..  Be nice to know what to look for once I get my Leopard

NEvermind. I found the cached page on the classicEKN that explained pipe as 1 sec faster per 25 sec laps. Looks to be no comparison. Guess I’ll be buying a soup can. Drat. I prefer pipes. Oh well….now some else searching will know, I guess.

…oh, and don’t forget the carpet square on the floor when mounting tires to protect those mag rims…

I can mount the 5″ dia tires by hand, and dismount with the addition of a single tyre iron, usually. I spray the bead and rim with wd-40 and inflate to around 60psi to seat bead and immediately relieve pressure after both sides !!POP!!

    6″ tires, well, they’re a pain.

Incidentally, I’ve noticed that I can seat beads much more easily with the valve stem cores in….wonder why?

Roger — I think he means breadbox sidepods and skinny front and rear bumpers. :) We raced the 100cc reed / rotary class there in 2002 and had a blast… Someone from Jamaica was in our class, and some other big names from ICA, etc. Alfonso Ribeiro was there in a shifter, and I think Alan Rudolph won that year. They were getting air off the crosswalk seams — I wonder how much air the unlimiteds will be getting with nitrous. Walking across the right hander in between races was asking to lose a shoe in the rubber and tar…..and that microbrewery nearby had GREAT food and ale… Shoot, I’m almost ready to ditch my 10 mo. old and wife and hitchhike there to watch, but I suspect my karts would be consumed in a fire while I was gone…. :) “What happens in Rock Island…..”

RIGP is a great time….best kart race I’ve been to. If I could afford the time and money, I’d be there with my measly 100cc DD to become a rolling chicane for the unlimiteds to skitter around…..

What powerplants are being featured this year? Any BRC’s? What else?
