I’ve not found a tool that supports the EVO yet. If anyone is aware of such an application, I’d like to know.
There’s an app for Android and iPhone that seems to work pretty well. It’s called “Jetting for Rotax Max Evo” and is published by ISEnet. It costs about $7 if I remember correctly. A word to the wise, install the plug it recommends. If not there’s a very good chance you will leave RPM on the table.

Couldn’t agree more! Bob’s Clone World is the most ridiculous web forum I’m ever seen. Blatantly biased against an American manufacturer that supports kart racing while supporting cheap Chinese junk that does nothing for the sport.

I haven’t had any issues with my Ryobi and there’s a few at our track that also seem to work fine. It airs a kart tire up in about 15-20 seconds so at that rate the duty cycle is pretty low. I expect it’s going to outlive me:)

For sure get a generator and compressor. But also get one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-18-Volt-ONE-Dual-Function-Inflator-Deflator-Tool-Only-P731/203060297
9 out of 10 times all you need to do is air up tires and this thing will do them in less than a minute. Works on car tires also. My wife recently had a very low tire while at work and I aired it up with this and took the car to Discount Tire to get it fixed.

Look into Shorai lithium ion batteries. They cost a bit more but you can find good buys on ebay. They are very light, pack a punch, environmentally friendly, fast charging, and hold a charge for over a year.

Bob’s should be called “Bob’s Clone Forum”, not Bob’s 4 Cycle Forum. It’s all about clones and the inherent silliness of trying to take a cheap Chinese copy of a utility motor and make it a racing motor. If you venture over there be prepared to throw logic out the window as it doesn’t exist. Why else would grown men pay $1500 for a clone motor when they could pay $500 for an LO206 with more power and reliability? When logic leaves a discussion drama and fighting ensues which is all you find at Bob’s now.
And don’t ever try and point out the silliness of a clone motor, Bob the Censor will remove your post before the ink dries.
If I want WWE type entertainment I read Bob’s. If I want good information I read EKN. For me that’s what it comes down to.

I’ve been told a 125 shifter kart will do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and tops out at about 120 MPH.

We started out with clones and soon discovered they are expensive, unreliable, high maintenance, and ultimately just complete crap. 144 times worse than regular crap. On top of this when you have a read through the AKRA rulebook it takes about 50ms to realize it’s a class completely out of control.
At our track there has been a movement away from clones and to LO206. A few months ago the numbers were about equal. And when you walked down the pit runner you could instantly tell who was running each motor just by the activity. The clone guys were working their tails off between races with all sorts of maintenance duties. The Briggs guys were usually kicked back in a chair enjoying a cold drink. There’s an early adopter at our track that’s been running the same motor for almost 5 years. All he’s ever done to it is change the oil and spark plug.
If you just want to add some cheap gas and go race the 206 is the motor for you. And it’s a class that is really starting to catch on. NOLA has added a 206 class and from what I hear it’s getting big. And DKC recently added a 206 class and they’ve had lots of interest too.

Hi Mike and welcome to EKN and the sport. We’re going through it right now with our 4 year old grandson. I can tell you what we’ve done that seems to be working so far.
Age 2 we started him off with electric cars around the house. It taught him the basic concept of go and turn.
Age 3 we moved him up to a bigger electric car for outside.
Age 3 1/2 or so we got him going on Mario Kart. It’s good and bad, it helps to teach driving on a “track” but it’s also a contact sport in the game.
Age 4 we put him in a CRG puffo and started straight line stuff with a strap attached to the back of the kart so he couldn’t get away. What you’re teaching here is go and stop, more stop that go. Kids are born knowing where the gas pedal is LOL
At 4 1/2 we put him on the track with a throttle stop so the kart only goes about 20-25 MPH. We let him go as long as he wants which is usually about 30 laps or so. He can now very smoothly go around the track but we won’t turn it up any until maybe the fall.
Hope this helps some,
Mike

P.S. If you wait a few months I’ll sell you our Puffo kart LOL
Clone hit it big because people dusted off their old chassis and put a $100 motor on their kart. As mentioned above every local track had different rules, whether it is an AKRA or WKA motor it changed yearly. What I found to be the biggest detractor and what ended up killing clone was all the manufacturers pushing people to continually buy items during the season. I have a 206 and seem that people are buying in
Hit the nail on the head! We started out with “inexpensive” clones and it didn’t take long to see just how completely out of control the entire clone deal is. It all boils down to trying to over-regulate a very inconsistent sow’s ear, to the point pro-built clones are now $1K and up. Unless clone motor rules are shortened to about half a page and costs gotten under control the class will be dead in 5 years. Think it can’t happen? Where are the flatheads?
LO206 is the way to go for cost, reliability, equality, and power.
We now run Rotax motors and they’re less expensive to keep running than clones!

This is probably a dumb question but how’s the venting? Specifically the little hose that loops from one side to the other and has a section cut out for a vent.
