Anyone ever try those magic eraser things? Might work.
Personally, after last year I just stripped all of the decals off of my kart. After 2-3 races you couldn’t read them anyways.

Well put Dan. It would have been such a cheap buy for a few commercials (as TruTV isn’t ESPN) and the perfect spot for someone to work on new faces.
Briggs & Stratton could have had a $25-50 off any LO206 if you mention Kart Life. WKA could have had a commercial that offered a free tech manual or reduced membership for first-time local racers. You can’t just try to keep bleeding the same people over and over. You ALWAYS need new customers; new growth.
But, there is a reason you are my go-to guy…

Brake cleaner seems to mess with the paint on my kart. Does starting fluid do the same or is it a little safer to use? What about carb cleaner?
PS, I’ll be placing that stand order late next week TJ.

Short answer to this is Sean fixed me up.
Basically I didn’t do enough between race maintenance and wore the bushing out at the beginning. This in turn roughed up the crank and caused the bushings to wear out faster than expected.
I now have a better maintenance program and shouldn’t have further issues with this (I hope).

Here is video I took last night of me spinning the clutch. I changed the bushing before the last race weekend and I ran about 25 laps at PittRace on it.

around 8,400. Is that too high?
I was trying to get it to pull right off of turn 8? (the left hander as you head up the hill) at Pitt Race.
It is on it’s way to Sean, but when I get it back I’ll start with the chain tension, check the axle, etc and just stay up on it.

No worries, it was our rookie season so we are still learning.
Yeah, we are shaking it, but maybe not long enough.
Yes to a 3rd bearing.
Maybe the chain is too tight, or we aren’t getting enough down to the bushing or something. We are just using a split-second spray (couple of drops) each time.

No, I have one club race under my belt. Finished 5 out of 10 & Mr. Lawson won.
I just know I can’t take my kart too many places without buying a can and learning that. Even when USPKS comes (if our track doesn’t cancel that too) I can’t run because A) entry fees are nuts B) I don’t have a can.
Just saying I’m a fan of oval racing, and while every track has a class called late models, they aren’t all the same.
It’s a total PITA as a competitor to always need to check the rule book and buy parts.

You can look at classes, but you can have 2 classes that are exactly the same run under different names, or you can have 2 classes with the same name but different rules. Lots of places run the Yamaha, but for some unknown reason, they still run the can instead of the WKA that came in 2 seasons ago now.
That includes WKA master tracks! Again, it is national groups and local tracks aren’t on the same page and it wastes competitors money and kills class counts.

Yamaha Senior gets the most karts for 15+ age group at Pitt. I think 16 or 17 the last race last year.

WKA: $50 (Friday) + $80 (Saturday) + $80 (Sunday) = $210<USPKS: $350 (Three days combined)
Well, you got me there. Didn’t realize the $350 covered the entire weekend versus each day being separate with WKA.
Either way, I still have full seconds to shave off before it is a consideration. A 1:02:5 at PittRace isn’t going to cut it, and that was on a pipe.

WKA would have been $85. USPKS is like $300 or maybe a little more without looking it up again. I’m not good enough to win the money so that part doesn’t mean anything to me. Add in tires and needing to buy a can and I can’t do it this year.
Maybe in karting terms it is a decent deal, but not for me at this time.
Edit: Club is $45 and I get nothing back.

This is the problem with all local racing series. If they don’t follow national rules you can’t run the same vehicle elsewhere, and many do it on purpose because they are afraid of losing the local guy to another track or series. They are short-sighted and don’t realize how they can enhance their own track by supporting bigger races & series.
For instance, if the local guy wins regionally or nationally, more people will want to come to your track to race him on off weekends. Secondly, if they don’t win, you still get your tracks name out there.
Plus, if you host a regional race, it opens sponsorship opportunities because those visitors use local hotels, restaurants, etc.
However, if you don’t have common rules, your efforts are nothing but a waste of time.

WKA & Great Lakes Sprint Series have chosen NOT to include Pitt Race in their 2014 Schedule. We wish WKA the best & hope to see them in 2015.

I wasn’t at the track today, but a few people who were seem to make it sound as if one party asked for a concession and the other severed the relationship altogether. Communication is severely “lacking” if you ask me, but based on some other stuff going on at the track I don’t think it is the end of karting there or anything. Maybe just WKA.
Edit: Now that I look, I see the Gold Cup race was pulled from the WKA schedule as well.

Yeah, not exactly fun as a PittRace local looking forward to the race only to find out about it online and they haven’t commented. Hopefully we’ll find something out today or at least at the drivers meeting next weekend.
