Go to your local track and ask lots and lots of questions. I also used to race mx, last year for the past 4 years and just a few days ago I picked up a Tag 125 as my first kart.

After cleaning, greasing, and reinstalling the clutch, it works fine again. Thank you so much for your help!

I ended up taking off the drum with the two flat heads and the needle bearing looks fine to me.

I bought this kart used recently and dont have much experience with these motors. Is there anything else I should grease before reinstalling the clutch?

I have experience with street cars on tracks and i used to race dirt bikes with the same 125cc 2 stroke engine so I think I just might jump right onto a shifter. It it really that crazy for a beginner to be using a shifter?

Oh wow thanks for letting me know. Would you know of any sites to find a decent shifter kart? Other than Craigslist and eBay? This is all knew to me.
