As someone who has been in and out of karting several times since the 90’s I can tell you this.
Local is easy, run whatever everyone else is running if you want to run with lots of competition. Beyond that, its a mess, especially if you are trying to run several different series, want to be competitive, and you have a tiny budget. Any two of those are ok, but you can’t get all three.
I’ve run Briggs flatheads on Alcohol, 125cc Shifters, TAG’s, and now LO206.

Thanks Gif. I’m just going to dump some data in here for the next person trying to do this.
I ended up using Permatex 59235 High Temperature Thread Sealant on the threads. Instead of going to braided steel covered lines I just bought Speedway’s Lightweight Nylon Racing Brake Line Kit.
To rebuild the master cylinder since I have a 22b pump (22mm/ 7/8″ bore) I bought wheel cylinder cups from napa (this is what it used originally) part# UP 3023 . If it was a 19b pump (19mm/ 3/4″ bore) you would need part# UP 4158.
To rebuild the calipers you need 1 1/4″ wheel cylinder cups, part# UP 666.
These wheel cylinder cup part #’s are all NAPA specific. To find these parts on NAPA’s website is difficult. Try this link.
Most of these parts are for cars made in the 40’s… So pick up spares when you pick them up.

Does anyone know what the thread is on euro (like birel ) master cylinders and calipers. 1/8 male pipe threads in, so I am guessing it is M10 x1.0. My thought is to get a 1/8 tap, retap the MC and calipers, and then go to -3 AN brake lines, which seem to be quite easily available. I’m just a little worried road racing with old brake lines.
What does one use for thread sealant on brake lines?

I don’t think so since the electronics also control the ignition.
Hmm…I’ve never heard of painting a seat before. The seat surface is actually epoxy, so something that would stick to that.
If you don’t want to say publicly, can you email me the brand of resin you use? I’m sure if I get the blush off I can paint it white with a boat deck paint. If I leave a chrome wrench in the sun for 5 minutes where I live it gets soo hot you can’t touch it.

I ordered it Ken. I hope its big enough…
BTW what paint should be used to paint the seating surface of it. I’m afraid black and Florida aren’t a good combo.
Check out http://deep-seat.com/ – American made and based in Wisconsin.
Thanks. I looked at their site and it looks like (by the only measurement they provide) it might work, but no dealers within 200 miles of me.
