So I completely understand hat you all mean by running what has been used until the next rebuild. However, what if it was run on two different oils.
This kart was run on the lighter wt oil for races and the thicker wt oil for practice and track days.
With this in mind, what all do you gents recommend now?

I can’t say thank you enough for all the information you gents have shared. I am exited for my wife to take her kart out this coming week. It was her wedding present and she is all amped to get out there.
David, I did post the exact same question(s) over at PKA’s site.

Derek, can you post a photo of your axle collar set-up?
~A
Best advice: Keep it on the track. I run some aluminum axle collars snugged up on the frame and lock-tited. You may have to notch the floor plan if you want to put them in the waist of the kart, but they are a heck of a lot cheaper than the frame protector kits you can buy. If they start to wear down too far, throw them away and get some new ones.
Great info everyone. I have been contemplating a generator for track use. Time to research Yamahas and Hondas.

Ok so 78 people viewed my post. Well I stopped by SubeSports here in SoCal (Huntington Beach) and I tried on several suits and nothing fit properly. I have 24+ inches between my shoulders (Former USMC) and the gents at SubeSports were kind enough to direct me to K1Racegear. I wished I’d known about K1 before driving all the way up to Huntington Beach as K1 is pretty much in my backyard.
Well I stopped by K1 and Aubrey King took amazing care of me and my custom suit is on order for less than an off the shelf Sparco, OMP, Alpinestars, Puma.
If there are any of you gents or gals that are in need of a new suit, please take my recommendation and gov e these guys a chance to earn your business. They are awesome to deal with.

I wish I had something to lend to this endeavor. Please do a write-up of all of this. I am sure this could be turned into a featured article. I know I am curious to see how all of this pans out.
Please keep us informed of your progress.

Hey Gary, and all the rest of you gents that took the time to respond to my post. Thanks can not convey how thankful I am to have you all as resources to help me get my wife up to speed. She took her kart out and had an absolute blast.
I drained all the oil after it was warm and also used my compressor to help rid all the oil I possibly could and filled it with Redline oil. IT sounds pretty crazy compared to my shifter.
David, I don’t understand what you mean by the Animal Rocker Cover Breather? I apologize but I am new to WF so this is a pretty steep learning curve. If you could clarify, I would be greatly appreciative.
Are you guys running a temp monitor on the head?
Thanks again for everything and all the information.

Oregon deserves a healthy mention.
Pat’s Acres (Canby, OR)
No sales tax
MAC (McMinnville, OR)

No Sales tax
Southern Oregon Karting (Medford, OR)

You’ve got great karting support by shops like Shark Shifter, CMC, Word Racing and several more that I am learning about. The race caliber is pretty impressive too and the people are god awfully friendly.
Snowboarding is also my passion and I maintained a season lift ticket to Bear for several years.
Oregon brings it in this venue too!!!
Enjoy, ~A
Did I mention no sales TAX!!!

Hey Andy,
From what I have read, reading the crown of the piston for signs of detonation goes as follows:
A) If you see tiny pits/pitting on the exhaust side of the crown, interpret this as the main jet being too lean.
B) If you see pitting on the intake side of the piston crown, interpret this as the pilot jet and the needle being too lean.
If I recall correctly, I read this from Memo Gidley’s Secrets of Speed for Shifter Kart Racing.
I hope this helps.

You can expect your rpms to increase 67 rpm per 1,000 rpm in each gear at the same speed. Just say with your present gearing you are coming out of a corner in 3rd gear at 8,000 rpm, changing to 15-25, at the same speed, you will be turning 8536 rpm. It will give you more punch out of the corner, but you will loose a little top end down the straight. Are you getting into to 6th in the longest straight? Are you maxing out your rpms in this straight? Gary Honda CR80 #55
