Whatever you do DONT stay at the motel 6
its a drug and skank infested night spot!
It was the last place available and had no choice. Never again!
They do offer semi camping including showers at the track at an additional cost

Prepared the kart for my first time there and came down the week of with un upper respiratory infection. Doc induced meds didn’t clear it up in time of practice and grinding so I opted to have a friend run my kart not without issues of course.
First time out, I think the starter nut came off. No loctite!
Second time out, I think, rear gear broke from studs backing out of clutch.
Third time out, belt stripped!
Race! Ran the whole race and finished. Weighed and knowing we would be light (because my friend needs to eat more like do) were 8 pounds under weight.
But… learned a ton and will return next year god willing!
Prepping for Roebling now with a different motor/carb/clutch package. ;)

Robert I’m telling you like the other guys that have written me, I don’t candy coat nothing. I divorced a liar and I don’t lie! If you want facts send me a pm.
This most recent scam ripoff didn’t involve me but i was notified by others that they got a raw deal as I did in the past.
People DO talk and business deals like these does NOT help the hobby.
This is where I feel the Karting organizations need to step in and mandate how business’s are run and who IS and ISNT a legitimate business. Just because you have a business name doesn’t make you a business.

Well after a couple of weeks of being away from the build, due to being busy at work (my real job that pays for this stuff) the good looking bare frame is now crappy looking with surface rust in numerous places. I oiled it down pretty good with recommended oils but it did what it did. My opinion is if it does it this easily, I’m just gonna powder coat it and be done with it!
I hate to go this way but I have no choice. I don’t like crappy looking toys! 😒

Headrest is mounted but final adjustment won’t happen until kart is back together. Total cost $4.50
Opinions please, positive or negative would really help.

Got the button head bolts I needed today and installed the mounting plate to the hoop.
Glued the foam to the aluminum headrest backing plate and now we wait until sets up good before I finish sanding the foam to fit the backing plate.
After that, it’s time to mount it to the seat for a trial fit.

Decided to just make one on my own.
Still not finished and I might have to cut more off the bottom to allow for more adjustment up and down but from what I’ve seen and cant acquire, I think this will work just fine!
These pics show it just mocked together until I get the correct bolts I want which are button heads because the heads will be under the foam and I want them as flat as possible. The toilet bolts work just like I want but being brass I don’t want to chance them breaking but they were all I had to piece it together until tomorrow.
I have easy vertical and horizontal adjustment.
I made the plate from 0.90 aluminum which is rather stiff plus it’s mounted to the aluminum hoop.
The foam was twice this thickness and splitting it was a challenge but thanks to some redneck ingenuity, it came out pretty good.

Kelly from what I’m told it was made by CKI but I don’t think it’s the current CKI in the Carolinas. I’ve also been told this may be an older “slingshot”!
Hey I might even be legal for the vintage class! LOL
Also after going over it with 320 I’ll probably just keep it bare.
Thanks

CLARIFICATION
this machine is called a
“Wheel A Brator”
here is a clip of how it works
-
August 13, 2015 at 2:50 pm #52800Ace RossiParticipant
Gonna weld the crack tomorrow and then deliver the whole chassis In pieces to a good friend who is going to run it thru what I think he called a “wheeler beader” that supposedly according to him is a machine that is like a tunnel and the piece (my kart) is fed thru and its blasted with a micro fine mist of metal shavings from a zillion nozzles pointing from all directions and it will bring the complete kart back to brand new look and condition without any distortion what so ever. He said it’s similar to sand and media blasting but no where near as aggressive but it gets everything off including all the nooks and cranny’s that I can’t get. Said the kart frame will have a polished look to it when it’s done and it cost me nothing to have it done. It’s good to have friends like this!
I will post pics after and show the finished result. Might just clear coat it or maybe just keep it oiled! Who knows! :)

Yea I’m finally convinced myself after stripping the main chassis today and finding a crack in the main tube that was hidden by old powder coating. I’m with Bruce and the idea of ever having to weld or cut on the chassis would just ruin all effort not to mention routine inspections that may have caught this.
Here is a picture of the cracked tube…
