Keith BridgemanParticipant
I don’t think I’ve seen one karting related commercial since this show has been on. Has anyone else?
I wonder if there would be a second season were they could follow a different group. But again, nobody is going to watch your average joe cleaning his kart and putting together an engine. That would be great but not realistic to get people to watch.
Keith BridgemanParticipantI would say that there have been 5 stories this winter that would have been 20 pages long on this forum a couple years ago. Just not the case anymore.
Birel found a good home, they have to be happy.
Keith BridgemanParticipantHa, yeah changed that.
Keith BridgemanParticipantBump
Keith BridgemanParticipantWonder how many drivers are in the cross fire that are on teams pushing the switch to Max Speed and now have to make a choice between the two?
My prediction is, both series will be hurt by participation this year. Max Speed will be out of business in two years.
Regardless of what you think about SKUSA the bigger teams were making a good amount of money off their races. Max Speed might be less $ to run but if you have less drivers showing up these teams profits are going to go way down.
It is a joke really.
Keith BridgemanParticipantWhen you say AMA are you talking Pro AMA events. I live close to Spring Creek which has a Pro AMA Motorcross and is one of the best tracks in the country. Go there for one of there club series races and there are no spectators. The spectators are the family just like karting. The difference is there are a lot more of them. Karting has just less people racing which in turn makes entries more costly. My Son is 8 and is racing motocross. Would like to get him into karting but if you look at it from a cost prospective things do not favor karting in any manner.
Keith BridgemanParticipantYes, its nice to get an honest comment about this for sure.
But really now we don’t have a true national series, your going to get two half a$$ed series to run. Karting always starts to eat itself when one series is having success. I can see SKUSA getting a bit two greedy with how the money flows. Both SKUSA and Max Speed are both spec racing series which both highly control the engine situations. SKUSA has taken all the risk on how to put this together and now we have the same thing just with Rotax. I guess for the first two races in each series its no big deal but I hope the Supernationals doesn’t get ruined as this is the one true great race.
Keith BridgemanParticipantWhere are you located? I’m from MN and my brother and I have been running shifter for a long time but your correct. Shifters aren’t healthy as far as sprint racing. The CES series has a large group of shifters that run at Blackhawk IL, Grattan, Gingerman and there is the KART enduro series as well. As for Sprint racing there isn’t much going on. Stock moto hasn’t taken hold in the Midwest as much. For the most part the clubs don’t have shifters anymore so there is no feeder to people running them.
Keith BridgemanParticipantHonestly! This would have been a 15-20 page thread by now a few years ago. Where are people going now to share their opinions on what has been a lot of big news in the industry over the last month.
Keith BridgemanParticipantWatch out Chris, if you mention KZ might not be more expensive then Stock Moto in its current state you might get a lot of hate mail. Lets not cause any trouble:)
I agree if its try the large teams that are behind Max Speed this could get interesting quick. Most likely you get two deluted series.
Keith BridgemanParticipantMax Speed is using SKUSA’s stock moto rule book also. Or better yet. Take away the 01 cylinder and make all go back to the 99 and do up a special pipe with the stamp “Max Speed” on it. Also they can make there own tire brand to. Lets do this right huh!!!
All the major teams will be in Vegas for a week and half. Just think of the cost!
Dave! I’ve never thought of that. What if Rotax did do a true 6speed KZ style shifter engine. I wonder what,, if any the impact would be. It would for sure look like a turd but who knows.
Keith BridgemanParticipantSeriously! Lets just copy the other series using Rotax. Lets even add stock moto with the same type of classes. Lets have the same amount of rounds and end in Vegas before the SKUSA Vegas. Its so Blatant is comical.
Keith BridgemanParticipantbump, price reduced, free shipping
Keith BridgemanParticipantThere are no manuals or much you will find on the internet. The knowledge on these is all with the engine builders. I have a maxter also and its a great engine. But I do my rebuilds with Joe White at JWR. I can just ask him all the questions you had. Swedetech would be the same way. In general this is the way it is with most karting engines,
December 7, 2014 at 9:45 am in reply to: Evolution of SKUSA; IAME shifter engine in the future? #38520Keith BridgemanParticipantI would wager to guess this has been discussed.
December 7, 2014 at 9:33 am in reply to: Spec Racing Is Here – What Engine(s) will you be racing in 2015? #38518Keith BridgemanParticipantI will be running a Maxter KZ engine roadracing where open engine large classes still exist.
Once this conversation is over lets add why the spec engine situation is so much more popular now.
Its control! a % of it is getting the engines equal but really its the orgs wanting to own their piece of the pie and controlling the engine and even tires. Jump on the bankwagon of ROK, IAME or Rotax spec series. Each corner of the country is now positioned with their choice. Is this your choice? Who cares! I guess this is the way it will be but there really isn’t any going back now. Don’t like your engine package near you. Quit karting and do something else, thats the message.
Then again many like spec, many would be good with a spec kart to I bet. Just like indoor karting.
I get having the Briggs L206 taking control of the 4 stroke market and I think that is good. The clone thing was a joke. After that it gets pretty messy.
Keith BridgemanParticipantYeah both my brother and I will be doing the entire series again. Looking forward to it. I’m guessing you will be to?
Keith BridgemanParticipantBump,
Keith BridgemanParticipantSo are there dates and times when the Supernats will be aired on TV?
Keith BridgemanParticipantAJ is running TAG Senior and S1 so yes he is running a shifter also.
November 14, 2014 at 6:43 am in reply to: A sport at war with itself – The experience of a relative newbie #37071Keith BridgemanParticipantKirt, a few years ago this thread would have had 7 pages by now. I do agree. Karting now is a spec one engine sport. Not as much because you can’t get different engines to run together but much more because each club, series or promoter wants you to run the engine that they are importing. Its going to kill the sport. Stock Honda, IAME cup, Rok Cup, Rotax. Even clubs pick the engines they want to sell. Every engine has its little pocket of the USA. Its just ridiculous and there is no fix now. It’s now very hard to take your engine and go run a regional event like it was in the past. I now run roadracing which is become the place were the wide variety of engines end up.
My son is now 8 and really I should have him in Karting. Being a karter myself that would make sense to have him in a kart by now. But Motocross is were he is. I would like to get him karting but the ease of motocross and the family aspect of it has karting beat so badly its hard to imagine. But motocross will get more and more dangerous has he gets into bigger bikes so the switch to karting is in the future. We will see how it goes but having him run the Supernats someday would be a blast.
Keith BridgemanParticipantThanks for the coverage, it was fun watching how the weekend progressed. Would love to hear more on what the drivers thought of the event and the different tires and engines.
September 26, 2014 at 9:25 am in reply to: 2003 Trackmagic Diablo 125cc Chassis – What Fuel Tank? #34486Keith BridgemanParticipant100% its a 2000. The First year of the Diablo. 99 would be a Demon. Then you move on to the Diablo II, III, IV and then the FTR from 2005-07. If you look at ads on Craigslist very few know what year they actually own.
September 26, 2014 at 8:16 am in reply to: 2003 Trackmagic Diablo 125cc Chassis – What Fuel Tank? #34482Keith BridgemanParticipantYeah that’s not an 03 chassis, that threw me off a bit. Glad you got it.
Keith BridgemanParticipantGood to hear, I was hopeful this would be covered well.
