Xeramic has the best nozzle I have ever used, really allows you to get it exactly where needed with little waste. BelRay superclean is good stuff and can usually be found local at cycle dealers.

I have a Yamaha 2400is, great generator. It’s just barely enough to run my Makita compressor, which is the biggest job I have for it at the track.  If you want quiet clean power (safe for laptops and sensitive electronics), you can’t beat Honda or Yamaha.  They are pricey, but worth it in the long run. Your pit neighbors will thank you.

I’m using these, so far so good, I just have the one that fits inside of my M4-2T, no Ebox for me. …..http://www.batteryjunction.com/duracell-dl10604-9v-lithium.html.

I had issues with regular alkaline batteries. Brand new battery would give low battery sign as soon as GPS was hooked up. I switched to lithium battery and I have 3 race weekends on same battery and still going. Order lithiums from battery junction, much cheaper than picking them up in a store.

I agree with Chris above. I’m not as tall (6’1″) or as fast as him but most guys can make it work without an extended porch. I tried an extended porch on a CRG and I hated it. The extended porch gives you more leg room, but you end up with your feet sitting on top of the front rail, which lifts your toes higher in the air.  In addition, the front bumper and nassau panel all move forward.  I didn’t like it at all.  I’m on a DR Kart as well, and I put the factory DR seat real close to where it was recommended from DRT racing. It is tight, but it works great and the kart handles amazing.  On another note, since your taller don’t immediately think you have to be on a 32mm frame. I thought the same for a few years, then finally went to a 30mm DR kart S97 and I wish that I would have tried one sooner.  I highly recommend the kart.   If you are still looking, I know of a couple very good condition S97 shifters that are for sale. Send me an IM or email and I will put you in touch with the owner.

If you just pull the clutch handle while the motor is running on the stand it may not release, all of my motors would still spin the wheel. To check you have to apply the break, and you may have to give the motor a little gas to keep it from stalling, but it should release. If it stays stuck, the clutch plates may have dried out like mentioned above.  I’ve had it happen once on a motor that sat for a year. The clutch discs got stuck together.  I took the clutch apart, re-oiled, re-assembled, and it worked great.

Will practice broadcasts be available live? If so where? I looked on race monitor and didn’t see a link.

Thanks Howie, I took your advice and gave MRC a call. Kudos to Billy.  I have never spoken to him before, but he was extremely helpful over the phone, to the point of sending me pictures to help ensure my setup was plumbed correctly.  Turns out the plumbing and pump are good, but something was causing a random obstruction in the fuel float valve area. The fuel float valve was stuck, making it impossible to even blow air into the fuel inlet area.   After a good cleaning which included some compressed air, and re-adjusting the float, the pump is now working fine and getting fuel to the bowl.

I’m 6’1″, 195lbs with long legs and fit in a CRG Road Rebel. It’s tight, but I have gotten used to it. I actually purchased a front porch extention, but once I installed it and sat in the kart it just did not feel right.  My heels were moved higher, because they had to go on top of the front rail, and it moved the bodywork and everything else forward. I ended up getting rid of the front porch.  Add around 1.5cm to the dimensions listed in the CRG manual linked above for 125cc classes, and that is right where my seat would end up.  My current DR kart the seat is real close to that as well, same amount of legroom.  With your weight, I’m guessing you would have to add a few lbs depending on what class you run. That should give you even more flexibility with the seat location.

As mentioned above, you are mostly trying to find a good compromise with comfort (elbow), weight distribution, and clearance with the motor.  Once I find that spot on the rails, I try not to move it much.  I have 3 different length chains for my kart, 54-56-58 links. I use different size chains with different gear ratio’s, basically to help keep the motor from moving more than 3/8″ either way.  I have a chart of the gear ratio’s I have available in my tool box. For example, if I go to a 16-26 ratio, I know a 58 link chain will keep the motor and the shift lever in the same spot. Makes gear ratio changes quick and easy in the pits.

Nevermind. Apparently posting to this thread fixed it. I swear I have clicked on it a hundred times, and it would not vanish. I post here, click on it again 30 seconds later, and now its gone…..

I purchased the Tony Kart kerb riders and fit them to my CRG. Just had a drill a couple new holes on the plastic protector to match the holes in my floor pan. The overall shape does not match my Road Rebel frame perfectly, but it’s not bad.  A friend recently installed the Kartlift frame protectors on his new DR kart, they look great.

I had no motorsports experience, but started in Rotax. I blew it up in my first race due to improper jetting or maybe old bottom end.  Fortunately Eric Jones took pity on me and made me a good deal on another motor to get me back up and racing again. Ran Rotax for a year before switching to a CR125.  I love the shifter, but I do miss the TaG as well, but Rotax parts were pricey. Maybe one day funds will allow me to run 2 karts, shifter and a leopard or X30.

I think the L206 is a great option for new karters.  I haven’t been in one, but the many that I have seen at the track looked fun and very economical.  If I ran a track, I would find a way to run a combo of 4 cycles at the same time, adjusting weight to help make them close.   Have a used tire only spec rule, you couldn’t put the kart on the ground with new tires, except in practice.   TaG and shifter karts could sell their used take offs cheap, and the 4 Cycle guys would likely still be able to get plenty of laps out of them……

I agree.  Great track.  I have only been out twice, after they made some adjustments, and I liked it.  Any idea on what this will do to the race series? Are they planning any public events?

I use one that looks just like this….http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pennzoil-Siphon-Pump/16795103.    It uses 1/4 tubing, so it works great. I remove the fuel line running to the carb on top of the fuel tank, and put one end of the siphon on it.  The other end goes into my race fuel jug. Pinch the line before you squeeze the bulb, and when you release the bulb release the line, and it should start siphoning. Basically you are using your existing fuel pickup hose inside your tank, so it empties your tank almost completely.
