Thanks Clark.
Scheduling is tough for me, as I didn’t even make it out to a race that was 10 minutes from my house last month. One day….
David ColeKeymasterGreat point Dan. I think first however, we need to see if someone can even pull it off. Just racing in all three events is a challenge enough. If the schedules align, the right programs come together. Then maybe after a couple attempts, we can begin asking, “Who can WIN at all three WKA Daytona KartWeek events?”
If we went for a Grand Slam, we could throw in a pavement oval race as well. I’m sure there is a parking lot area to build another oval at DIS ;)
David ColeKeymasterAs far as I can remember, I don’t believe so. I’ll ask Randy Kugler this weekend at USPKS event.
David ColeKeymasterAre results posted yet?
One of these days, I’m going to run at Summit :)
David ColeKeymasterWKA license is no issue with your experience. You just have to purchase it.
What classes would you try to do them in?
David ColeKeymasterThe Road Racing portion is the easy part to get adjusted to. The majority of the lap is going full gas. You do however need to get through the four infield corners smooth, or you lose the draft.
David ColeKeymasterPractice time on the road course, haven’t you had enough practice going 24 hours there Trey? :)
David ColeKeymasterBest of luck to everyone competing. If I wasn’t at the USPKS north of there, I’d love to compete.
David ColeKeymasterI agree. There are a number of areas at the facility that need to be looked at regarding safety for not just karts, but racing in general. Talking with a car racer, they do not allow people along the track wall, and must remain back at the pit wall. They should probably make that wall taller, to help keep the race cars inside the race course to prevent any possible issues.
The pit in wall should be angled, so the wall is not directly pointing at the karts head on. The main building and pit out should be redesigned as well.
Thankfully, they have tire walls in certain areas, and the wreck in the Animal class left the two driver involved with just bruises and smashed up karts instead of serious injuries. I would love to see more tire wires in certain areas at certain tracks across the country. I’ve seen it work at Mid-Ohio, and now Blackhawk.
David ColeKeymasterGreat person I got to meet at 2008 IKF Road Race Grand Nationals. Thoughts are with the entire Holmboe family.
David ColeKeymasterThanks Freddy. It has been taken care of, just delete.
David ColeKeymasterI’m sure they were sent earlier. If you receive any after 11pm Pacific time, please let me know. Otherwise, it all the messages were sent before we could cut off the account.
Stephen, check you PM.
Thank you.
David ColeKeymasterAlready taken care of Jim. Thanks.
David ColeKeymasterChuck, both episodes will be available online through Torque.TV and Motor Trend On Demand. All three of the SKUSA SuperNationals XVIII is available through their Motorsport section.
David ColeKeymasterCheck out NHKA and their World Formula program. Its about a four-hour drive, but it’s a great club program that races at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Contact DRT Racing to see if they can set you up with a DR Kart and World Formula package. Or, there are other racers that loan out karts I believe in the area.
David ColeKeymasterThe northeast has not caught onto the Briggs LO206 category like the rest of the country. Many of the tracks are invested in other engine platforms, and have not seen the great package that is the LO206. The best bet is to get one, and go there, so people can see it first hand.
I know in NH, World Formula is a popular 4-Cycle option. The tracks like OVRP, LIKA, and Raceway Park are perfect facilities for LO206 racing. I would contact each directly to find out options if you go with LO206.
If not, Yamaha the next step up in the ladder system.
David ColeKeymasterLooks like you are in Washington. Not sure of what tracks run PRD up there. There is SIMA in Sumas that has a strong TaG contingent
David ColeKeymasterTed, place the cursor over the number, and it should pull down a statement. It will say ‘You have 3 replies’ or something like ‘You had so and so reply to your thread’. Click on that instead of clicking on the actual bubble.
