A message from Karen Boswell:
UPDATE! Wesley Boswell was moved yesterday to an acute rehabilitation ward. It is a unit with patients that HAVE TO HAVE CALM AND QUIET. At different intervals he is going to be learning to move with his injuries gently in order for everything to come back 100% They limit his family visits in order to not overdo. It has been a very trying time for the family, but the love and support of all our friends, and the GO KARTING COMMUNITY especially, has brought tears to our eyes and helped our coping process in going forward. God has held all our hands this week in his promising to be there when these life challenges appear. We love you all and Thank you in your continued patience, love and support. As soon as Wes is allowed visitors we will post it.
Love * Thanks,
The Wesley Boswell FamilyDavid ColeKeymasterIn case you haven’t seen it: EKN TV
David ColeKeymasterThis forum is much different from what everyone is used to. When we have time, we will review the option of an auto-notify, but as of now, I do not believe that is an option.
Just remember, the notification option is there, you just have to do it for each thread you reply to.
David ColeKeymasterHi Chris, this forum is done by each thread. If you want to receive an email notification of replies, you will have to check the box under your reply. Otherwise, you can Subscribe to a section to get notification of a new thread. That is the current format as of right now. Thanks.
David ColeKeymasterDepends on conditions, what series you race, and how many times you take the kart out. I’ll move this post to the Rotax section, and maybe you’ll get more info from Rotax racers. Thanks.

Just chatted with Wally Boswell, and he let me know that Wesley is doing well, and has been transferred OUT of ICU! It’s still a long road ahead, but he’s getting there. Wesley Boswell is strong and is bouncing back quickly. Please keep him in your thoughts. The fund raising effort has been amazing, and I want to thank everyone who has stepped up to make sure this accident doesn’t have the impact that it could. Now that Wesley is on the mend, the family will be working to figure out the extent that his health coverage will cover it all. Stay tuned folks!

Hi everyone! sending you an update on Wes, he is working hard at recovery from his injuries. He is still in Intensive Care/Trauma unit and his condition continues to change hourly. Some times are better than others. Good news he is starting therapy so it’s still really important to give him quiet time to rest and sleep in between the sessions. It’s important to continue to hold off on visits. As soon as he is transferred from the ICU, Karen and I will update you about visits. With all the flu and colds going around, it would be devastating for him to catch something with a rack of broken ribs. We continue to be in awe of the support you all are giving to Wes. We love you all.
The Medical Fund is now over $20,000 and continues to grow. Thank you to the entire karting family.

Wesley continues to stay in the Trauma ICU working on his recovery. He has been working with a IS machine to excersise his lung The staff and nurses have taken quite a liking to him and he is remembering most of their names. When one of his nurses explained how high he had to get the meter to go, his response was, well, what the best record? Wes is sure making it fun for the nurses.
The Medical Fund is nearly up to $20,000 in just two days after looking to reach $15,000. Notable names such as Michael McDowell and Jamie McMurray have lend their support, along with many within the karting family from coast to coast, including members from Canada. Thank you to everyone that has sent in their donation and moral support for Wes and the Boswell family.
David ColeKeymasterMy guess is nothing will happen in 2014. I haven’t confirmed or denied, but with the current status unsure, I think we could maybe start planning for something in 2015.
My suggestion, support your local Road Racing club for 2014. That should be in your plans.

Wes continues to stay in the ICU trauma unit. He got a lot of much needed sleep which we have been told is going to be KEY to his injuries healing. He continues to want to hear posts from everybody when he is up to it. His appetite has continued to increase which we’ve been told is a big plus. He gets a lot of energy from hearing everyone posts in little bits. Please keep them coming. Visits are limited by hospital.

Wally and I want to Thank the karting community for your prayers, love and support. Wes is in stable condition in Roseville . Notable improvements since last night when airlifted in, and meeting all challenges as the champ he is. Words can not express how grateful we are.
David ColeKeymasterHi Nate,
Hard work and determination. You’ve just started in the sport, so my suggestion is to learn as much about the sport. Work hard on and off the track. If you really want to move up the motorsports ranks, you will need to start with junior formula cars. My suggestion is to stay in the sport of karting for a few more years, then see where you are with your skill-level and finances.
David ColeKeymasterSorry to high-jack the thread, but Anthony and Mike, please update your profiles. Your Display Name MUST be your first and last name. PM me if you have any questions. Thank you.
David ColeKeymasterHi Jeff,
My guess is they were busy with the rain weather day one and now heading back home today.
WKA will be supplying EKN with a race report, and it will be published as soon as we receive it. They have their own online coverage, so we have spent this week to be with our families before the busy 2014 season begins January 2.
The road racing group posted results in the Road Racing forum, including PDF results.
December 20, 2013 at 5:57 am in reply to: New to Kid Karting – Comer 50 to LO206 Conversion Questions #18191David ColeKeymasterTim, the LO206 engine is a spec package, so I would suggest hitting up the kart shop where you are at to get specifics and help with getting the engine to fit on the kart, along with the adjustments you can make to the engine. They are pretty much bolt on and go, right out of the box.
The degree mounts angle the engine. It helps when you change the engine oil, other than that, I haven’t had much difference from a flat angle to a 12degree angle.
David ColeKeymasterThanks Gene.
December 19, 2013 at 11:20 am in reply to: New to Kid Karting – Comer 50 to LO206 Conversion Questions #18158David ColeKeymasterHi Tim, first off check your private message.
Regarding the cost to convert, you may actually make money. Looking at CometKartSales.com, a new Comer is around $985. You can get a LO206 package from FasterMotors.net for under $600.
You will have to buy a few things, as listed on their site, including a motor mount that will fit the LO206 and the Kid Kart chassis. Which could have you break even depending on what you sell the Comer for.
I’m sure you will have to buy a new rear sprocket, if that’s what you are asking. It will be dependent on what drive gear comes with the LO206 clutch, and what type of chain you will be using.
I’m guessing your racing at NOLA? The guys at the shop there will be able to get you going in the right direction.
December 18, 2013 at 8:21 am in reply to: Stock Moto Running with TM K9es/Rok Shifter, Sonic Maxter, etc #18084David ColeKeymasterFlorida Winter Tour is running the Rok and IAME shifters within the Open Shifter class this year.
IMO, all shifterkarts should run together, and if possible, scored separate to make things exciting at the local/regional level. We see the NESKS is doing well with that, and I think numbers should be good this year at the FWT.
David ColeKeymasterDoug Welch went into the ‘real world’. I believe he is living down south working, saw him at the Rotax Grand Finals briefly as he was visiting his son who was wrenching for Jake Craig.
David ColeKeymasterI’m guessing the Brava 4.2c
Also, Victory Kart is providing $500 Arrive-and-Drive programs at the Florida Winter Tour this season.
For a beginner or someone who doesn’t have the funds to buy a TaG or Shifter – a LO206 or Yamaha package is the best solution.
David ColeKeymasterYou mean the US-31 issues? I know what your talking about. Here in GR the roads are not that bad. Not great but driveable.
David ColeKeymasterI think this would be something to see in Open or Unlimited classes. What happens to older Rotax motors that are no longer used in RMC events?
