The road course is among the best road racing tracks I have ever been on. It would be a perfect situation if they built a kart track, even it rental karts filled it up 6 days a week. It’s a great revenue stream for the facilities during big name events.

Tony, I believe this is more of a collaboration to get tracks on board with the same rule structure – based around the engine rules that Briggs & Stratton have set out. The idea is to try and help grow the LO206 program at as many sprint tracks around the country as possible to begin a foundation for a strong grassroots karting program. EKN has been pushing the engine package for three years now, and seen a strong growth around the country and has some ideas in the works as well to help further the growth.

Welcome Nick. First, please update your display name to be your first and last name.

Second, do you have the pain when you are out of the kart? I just popped my ribs Labor Day weekend and I am just now able to lay down on that side of my body after six weeks. Your body could just not be used to the action of racing. After being out of a kart for a while, your muscles will get overworked and will be sore for a few days as well, depending on what shape you are in.

Third, for a Ribtect seat, you want to be snug. What is your weight? If you are moving around in the seat, then I would guess the seat may be too big for you and the newer style of Ribtect vest should eliminate that extra space in the seat.

The track in Sarno is obviously getting faster as the nearly 200 drivers lay down more Bridgestone rubber down and the drivers pick up the pace. The first one or two sessions is about breaking in the engines, and getting the chassis ready.

Here are the group positions (fast lap) for each driver in the three sessions:

    KZ

    Group 2

    32 – Gary Carlton – 4 (1:10.128), 9 (1:07.153), 12 (1:06.687) – P22 overall in final session

    KZ2

    Group 2

    137 – Jacob French – 16 (1:08.873), 21 (1:07.751), 21 (1:07.346)

    138 – Harry Gottsacker – 28 (1:11.415), 31 (1:10.304), 31 (1:08.847)

    139 – Ryan Kinnear – 25 (1:10.808), 27 (1:07.984), 28 (1:07.685)

    144 – Sabré Cook – 23 (1:10.399), 20 (1:07.634), 20 (1:07.303)

    149 – Joey Wimsett – 29 (1:12.449), 9 (1:07.065), 8 (1:06.847)

    Group 3

    189 – Phillip Orcic – 10 (1:07.616), 19 (1:07.213), 15 (1:06.949)

    197 – Christian Schureman – 15 (1:07.925), 16 (1:07.092), 10 (1:06.850)

Wimsett is 37th overall in the final session of the day, about 0.8 off the overall fast time. A tenth of a second can be anywhere from four positions to eight positions, with Schureman and Orcic right there in terms of lap time. French and Cook are on about the same pace throughout the day while Kinnear and Gottsacker continue to find speed.

    Nothing is ever easy.

All kidding aside, karting is very diverse. With each region of the country, there are karts and engines that are very popular, and others that are not.

Located in Kentucky, sprint racing is rare, with dirt oval the most popular form of karting.

To start out, you need to figure out what it is you want to do in the sport. A few club races, full-time club, club and regional?

It should be an interesting year for Americans as a good group of drivers from the Rok Cup USA program in Florida will be heading over as well. I am waiting to hear back from Andre Martins on an official roster for Team USA to the event so we can highlight those drivers heading over to represent the Red-White-Blue in Italy.

Kelly, it’s Race-Monitor.com – all the cool kids are using it…HAHA

That looked like a big Stock Leopard field. Maybe we’ll have to make this an EKN Trackside Live stop next year. I wouldn’t mind stealing a Triad from the Hegar boys if they come back.

I know the USPKS schedule is near confirmed. Not sure on the WKA schedule, I would have thought something would have been announced this weekend in New Castle. SKUSA Pro Tour is nearing the release of their dates as well.

Are you talking the engine or the clutch spin when you turn over the rear wheel? The clutch drum should spin with the chain/wheel, but the engine crank should stay in the same position if not running. If you spin the rear wheel, and you feel the force of the piston going up and down, then you have installed the clutch wrong and it is in direct drive.
