I’m also confused at why your offering the Unlimited class at 3:15 Sat then the Superkarts run at 4:15. You would be better off putting more time in between those 2 races so a person who blows to pieces in Unlimited could have time to fix his rig and still make the Superkart Pre-final. Same with Sunday, they need more time between them for repairs. More entries=$$$ for the club and more fun for the runners.

Same problem as last year and the year before that. Open moto runs only once a day and no stock moto classes. 80cc is offered but it’s at the same time as open moto and only once. We could round up 80’s but not if it runs at the same time as open shifter. Tag is not our bag and laydown stuff requires motors/cars we no longer run. I also don’t see 125 laydown designated as a class so we can’t run a situp shifter there either and were not entering Unlimited with a cik 125, the track is to long. If some day you guys modify or add the classes to accommodate what’s being offered on a more national level we can look at going after a cool Triad but to drive that far for 1 class per day isn’t going to get us in the truck and yes I know we have had this conversation before.

My question is, if Hegar sponsored a stock moto or another couple of Open 125 shifter 3 & 4 (Sprint 125 shifter) classes would you guys allow them to run for a Tirad? Aiming for 2 places per day to run an open 125 not just 1 time per day. 4 runs in a weekend can get us moving in that direction I think and probably stimulate others into attending. I’d also ask how many open 125’s you see at this race? I know you have some quick shifter customers in that area.

I’m thinking next year now, it’s to late to do anything in 2013.

If your going to remove the wing as Sam noted you may want to add or move physical ballast to the back of the kart to simulate what the down force does for balance at slower and medium speeds. Wing is down force which is basically pressure weight as well as it’s own scale weight, eliminate drag with no wing but maintain grip and balance with ballast.  Scale the kart with wing, remove the wing and led it back to balance. All this is based on having a driver that already needs led to make weight, if your taking it off to make weight your hosed anyway. Ya can’t just remove the wing without adjusting something or it’s gonna rotate off the front like a mother.

Brian, your sprag body is shipping today. Sorry for the delay we have been upside down here due to the IKF nationals.

If it has a warranty I would think a cracked pipe would be completely replaced at no charge. At least that’s what my wife expects when returning defective items to the mall. She gets new pipe when she needs it!

Karting is very safe as is. Full leathers would be the only addition you could make that would help and we would actually be going back to standard of years ago.  Problem is the sport is already so expensive that no average individual could afford to buy real leathers now days. The option is open to anyone at any time though. Heavy and hot leather is great in a crash but not drafting at Hallet in July.  ;-)

Other than what the driver has on this discussion is basically done due to the fact that all sprint kart chassis changes, safety mods and rules come from Europe and filter across. We got nothing to do with it. I agree with Greg on this one, shifter karting is pretty darn safe even in a wreck. Anyone here ever gone over the high side on a crotch rocket? To me that looks like a nightmare yet they keep gathering runners.

If the floats don’t move one way or the other.

Stuck open (needle out) Motor floods and won’t run. Way rich, no adjustments effect it.

Stuck closed (needle locked up in the hole) Motor runs out of fuel and dies.

If your running a carb that has developed problems after running fine for some time, change the filter, remove all jets and blow air through all hole in the jets and carb itself, change pump completely or just rebuild. Also check tank pickup and all fuel lines for kinks or blockage. Lot’s of the karts with age tend to wear out the pickup in the tank, rubber gets hard and crack, ect. Still got problems, change plug, ignition, reeds, inspect piston, you know the drill.

Yamaha Lt & Hvy drivers are coming out of the woodwork for this event. Must be something going on with the planets, this never happens.

100cc open and Stock Appearing also seeing numbers not to mention 125 open and stock. 80cc laydown is looking at some new packages to hit the track after the heaviest trophy in America.

Remove all jets and blow through the holes with compressed air along with the carb side. Do the same with the inlet needle if you have one, change the fuel filter.

Any of you cats coming up to the Portland national in Sept? We had a great turnout last weekend in the stock class with new winners all around.

In the past Bernard followed IKF standards which allowed 16 year old racers to run adult classes. I’d like to add in what I’ve seen through my personal experience related to time at the big tracks racing and watching. I also realize some runners at certain ages are more alert than others. Keeping in mind even a champion Jr sprint runner will come back eyes wide open after the first run at this speed without throwing in others around him or her. If your young runner has never ran 125 on the long track this may not be the event to test the waters. With this many people on the grid the dangers are extreme and can be amplified for a new person old or young. Your looking at 110+ mph in a large group, this is not the sprint track, again dangers are extreme. From 80 mph top end sprinting to sustained 110 for up to 30 seconds this is a big deal. Even Jr restricted 125 is going to be faster than most at that age need to be going IMO. Yes I know it’s not my place to judge your runner but please take serious consideration and or attempt to take your new person to a local long track event for testing before signing up. Some love it and some hate it, road race is definitely different.

OK that’s my mothering speech, carry on.

Seems this event is drawing some new and old runners. 125 laydown has seen karts that haven’t touched a track in years. 125 stock is growing and will see imported runners taking a shot at the title. Let’s dance ladies… ;-)

Ya that’s good I’ll take the 7th spot, dumping Jimmy back to 16th makes me all warm inside. I do expect to lead at least one lap in here though so watch out I’ll be crossed up coming down your inside sooner or later.

The NW rr scene is drying up and floating away. We have a minimal of young drivers coming up and are forced to tax the old guard with higher and higher prices due to track rentals ect. Even got some cool new tracks online here after losing some old ones but numbers remain low and falling. If it takes a new track like this anywhere in the US to get the short track world interested it can’t do anything but help everyone’s program. They try us, they like us and then return to all of our regular local events looking for more of that taste. If this new track was in any existing clubs back yard each would push it as hard as possible to gain runners, this is no different. Find a buddy, tell em it’s an F1 facility and drag em out even if it’s just to watch. RR needs more bodies.
