pretty close … different coil, updated pipe, harness and battery box … what you have is about 4hp stronger than the US Rok GP version…. from what I know at least …. either way they’re bad ass motors

no need for an app, the GP runs a proper carb and doesnt require constant jetting attention a la rotax.  Ocala Gran Prix is a great source of information for the Rok motors, they’ve tested the GP and the Shifter since the first one’s showed up in the States.  Might want to give them a call.

Ocala Gran Prix ….. ANYTHING you need for ANY Rok engine … No one in the US knows more about the Vortex engines than these guys, or has more parts on hand and ready to ship.

check with your city/county for residential disposal of hazardous materials….we have a collection center here in town that takes all kinds of stuff, no charge and no questions….old gas, oil, tires, paint, old spray cans, batteries…they take it all.  Easier and cheaper to do that then pay people to dig it out of the landfills.

Millenium is the known throughout the motorsports industry as the best of the best when it comes to replating.  I’ve also have excellent results from Langcourt in Alabama.  Whoever you use, just make sure you send a brand new piston with the cylinder you want replated.  Don’t use any shop that tells you that’s not necessary.  Good luck.

OGP (Ocala Gran Prix) has some of the best coaching in the world, just take a look at their results and the drivers they’ve developed over the years — consistent champions for years.  They’re normally booked for training, but if you can fit into their schedule, you wont regret it.  Best money spent in karting is seat time and quality coaching…..and tires. ;-)

dellorto floats can crack and fill up with gas, test by removing them and holding them under water, it they fill up, they’re no good.  ALso look at the floats closely — you’ll notice they have “alto” cast into one end, alto means “high” in italian, so that is the top of the float…and they’ll rattle if they’re installed correctly.  Round ends always go into the bottom of the bowl.

103rd St Racing complex, Jacksonville, FL. Its a public park, just like the basketball court in your neighborhood.  Open sunrise to sunset everyday except Christmas Day.  Just pull up, unload and go.   Weekends can get to be kind of a free for all and kind of dangerous in my opinion as its a real fast track and no marshaling, but the locals are pretty good about self-policing.  If you like a super fast track and banked turns, you’ll love it.  Only time its not free is on race days which is one saturday a month.  North Florida Karting Club has the lease from the city, you can find their website online.  They held a round of the WKA winter series there and usually have a GOld Cup round every year also.  All in All, a fun place to go get your seat time fix.

might want to post up some pics to help indentify that motor, I have an RVXX and it’s engraved into the cylinder over the exhaust port like the RVZ.  Might want to reach out to Martijn at Koene (Netherlands) for parts, they have excellent knowledge of the Vortex product and are a great resource for applicable parts.

    3. yep, open to the public 7 days a week, sun up to sundown.  Its a city park just like the basketball or tennis courts just down from your house.

You never know who’ll you run into out there from day to day.

check out the new LO206 specific chassis by TB Kart…they just hit the track here in FL and from the looks and feedback from the new owners, they got it right with this chassis for this engine package, and that came from dyed in the wool 4 stroke guys.  Give Miguel a call, they have several new chassis for sale at a very good deal…here’s there FB page, great family of folks too

in reply to: Why are karts so expensive? #53450

Tim’s right, its incredibly expensive to produce anything in Europe due to how much control the labor unions have.  That video Tim mentioned — notice how few humans are in the factory, it’s all robots….expensive?  Hell yes!!  But, OTK Group aren’t stupid, they did the fisability study and saw that human labor is more expensive than machine labor…thats a huge statement in my opinion, and means less jobs and more expense for he consumer…the economic situation in the EU doesn’t help us either, the tariffs paid for each unit exported is ridiculous…..So, if you want a new chassis, get out the check book and get ready to stroke a good one….FYI — Average cost of an mx bike (4 stroke) is nearing $10k these days….its motorsports, its costly, and if you want to be up front, that check book better be real fat!

Rok GP, not Rok TT….otk chassis will get you lots of tuning advice in FL, CRG, not so much…rotax is in a very turbulent transitional period right now transitioning from the 15+ yr old Max engine to the new EVO motor, and the x30, although its been around for a number of years now, it still hasnt seemed to really grab hold of any market share in FL……as far as TAG racing, I hope you’re not too far from OGP, they’re about the only ones left that allow all brands to run together, everything else is exclusive spec engine classes and series….Good luck….

    in reply to: building a 2010 32mm Krypton S5, any advice? #51352

thanks TJ….I’d really like to put him in a 30mm chassis, but I’m trying to work with what I have (a 32mm krypton) and considering he’ll be learning to drive a gearbox kart <not competing> with this set up, I figured we’d give it a try…ya know, you’re the second person to mention seat struts, however I dont run any on my evrr with a T9.5 seat and the thing handles unreal, must have to do with driver weight I suppose….I know shifters should be stiffer than tag set ups, I have the struts, I guess we could mount them and test attached and unattached to see what works better…if he takes a liking to the gearbox, we’ll sell the TAG chassis and this 32mm and get him a newer (14 or15) 30mm chassis….or at least thats my thinking….I think seat position is going to be crucial here
