ROTAX SENIOR

Rotax competition is nothing new for the SKUSA SuperNationals. The first addition of Rotax came in 2001 at the old Las Vegas Karting Center when Andrew Alfonso won the inaugural main event for class. The runner-up that year featured Chris Carmody – on a PTK chassis – coming back to win in 2002 at the first event at the Rio. Rotax was absent from the SuperNationals until it returned with Senior and Masters divisions. Senior was won by Canadian Pier-Luc Ouellette on an Arrow chassis. The last time Rotax was part of the SuperNationals was in 2013 with DD2, DD2 Masters and Rotax Junior.
SuperNationals 29 marks the fourth time that the Rotax Senior division will be offered. While other Rotaxians from around globe will be competing in Portugal at the RMC Grand Finals on the same weekend, there will be 41 drivers vying to be part of the history books at the SuperNationals. The big positive of hosting the new category is the 21 drivers who will be making their first ever SuperNationals start, thanks to the Rotax Senior category.
There are only two former SuperNationals winners in the field. The newest was Diego Ramos (PSL / Birelart), who came away with the KA100 Senior victory in 2025. The Brazilian is forfeiting his defense of that win in favor of competing in Rotax Senior and he is among the 14 in this class also racing Pro X30. The other former SuperNats winner is Michael McGaughy (RPM / Kart Republic). The driver from Utah won the Mini Swift category in 2022, and is coming off a fifth-place finish in X30 Junior last year. This will be his Senior debut at the SuperNationals, as McGaughy is also competing in Pro X30 after racing much of 2026 in Europe.

The podium finishers at the RMC Trophy Final held in August at New Castle Motorsports Park were awarded tickets to compete at the SKUSA SuperNationals. Race winner Isaac Malcuit took the RMC Grand Finals ticket to compete in Portugal, while the other two will be racing in Vegas. 2013 RMC Grand Finals champion Oliver Hodgson (Factory Karts) was runner-up while Canadian Antoine Lemieux (Tony Kart) finished third. Hodgson has a love/hate relationship with SuperNationals, finishing fifth in KA100 Senior back in 2022 in his event debut, however, has not been able to find that success again. Lemieux’s only SuperNationals start was in 2023, placing 22nd in X30 Junior. He is among the nine Canadian drivers in the field.
Drivers to watch include RMC Trophy Final fourth-place finisher Ryan Raffa (SCR / CS55), former RMC Grand Finals starter Theo Kekati (Factory Karts), ‘Fast’ Frankie Mossman (SCR / CS55), Jonathan Portz (NRC / Gillard) and Camryn Reed (Kart CRG USA), who is set to make her first SuperNationals start. Joshua Smith (KX / Tony Kart) is the only British driver is in the field and he arrives with strong 2026 resume back in the UK. Another international name to watch is Stefan Jesper Sjoberg (PSL / Birelart), who competed in Pro Shifter at the SuperNationals the last two years.
