Challenge of the Americas Welcoming Shifter Limited at Series Finale in Sonoma
The Challenge of the Americas is set to wrap up its 2024 championship finale at the Sonoma Raceway on April 12-14. The Sonoma, California facility is among the most picturesque backdrop in all of karting, hosting Round Five and Six of the 17th season for the winter west coast program.
Series promoter Andy Seesemann has extended an offer to one of the ROK Sonoma club classes to join the Challenge weekend in Sonoma. The Shifter Limited class – reserved for drivers 35 years and older – features the ROK Shifter engine package with an exhaust restrictor.
The class will run a shorter weekend schedule compared to the regular COTA categories. No Friday practice, with two practice sessions on Saturday morning. One qualifying session along with two heat races will complete the action on Saturday. A warm-up and final heat race will be held during Sunday morning while a Prefinal and Final complete the format. In total, the Shifter Limited class is scheduled for nine sessions over two days, including up to 60 laps of racing!
The entry fee for the two days of competition, including one set of Vega tires along with fuel and oil is only $900. In order for the class to be included on the weekend schedule, the Challenge is asking for at least 10 entries by Friday, March 22.
Racers are asked to visit the Challenge registration page and download the Sonoma Shifter Limited specific entry form. Simply fill in your personal information and your payment information and email it to ftk51@sbcglobal.net by the March 22 at midnight deadline. Entries will not be processed until the 10 entries are reached. Entry forms without payment information will not count as an entry.
In addition, Ron White Racing has pledged $500 to the winner of the class!
