i have driven the brembo brakes on older karts and did not like those much, had 2000+ on a crg and love those and then my new kart has ceramic ven05 and they are fantastic, love how much feel they have and how hard the pedal stays

ohhhh…. of course, that makes perfect sense now about the position of the exhaust relative to the bumper.  The way my kart is setup there is plenty of clearance so the coil and seat struts, etc shouldn’t be an issue.

looks like odenthal 10* is the one.

      thanks guys!

I definitely have one as 2 of my 80 shifter chassis are 32/32

did your other mount not fit?  I have several mounts that will work for you but you were going to check to see if the mount you have fit first.

I’m not claiming to be an expert but the way I would do it is set the clip in the middle and probably start at 195 main jet and go from there with air screw 1 turn out or so.  Then adjust the clip to get the mid throttle you want and tune the main jet by running the motor at full throttle then immediately shutting it down and looking at the plug.  That’s the easy way to do it imo and once you get more comfortable with how they are supposed to run you can do it more by feel.

I always have ran redline oil at 25:1 for what its worth

if you google around there is a mikuni manual on how to tune these carbs, if you stay on the rich side they are pretty damn tough motors.

      good luck!

looks like great deal!  cr80 shifters are tons of fun.   the infineon cr80 class is a little drive for you but seems to be gaining steam.  I believe musgrave racing in socal has PTK stuff?  all my other stuff I either get from Cameron karting or Fastech (Jon is good guy and I’ve bought tons of stuff from him and he has always answered any reasonable questions I have had).  I believe Jon from fastech is in monterey so he is in your area.  If you need an extra motor or something I have tons of everything for cr80s as I now race a rotax.

<span style=”line-height: 1.5em;”>Eric from 7th gear is great and if you call most any kart shop they will likely walk you through how to figure out whatever parts you may need or they can put you in touch with someone who does.  karting is a small community :)</span>

      <span style=”line-height: 1.5em;”>hope you have fun!</span>

thanks Peter, am I accurate in assuming that the majority of guys in S1 or S4 etc are running 32 chassis though?  if so I am curious as to your thoughts on why they do?  it would seem to me that peak cornerning forces are likely as higher or higher in the rotax TAG classes so I am curious why the 125 shifter guys run the stiffer/thicker chassis.

thanks, thats good to know.  I was worred that perhaps having the seat super tight would inhibit the natural flex that occurs across the seat in corners but the amount the seat flexes is probably pretty minimal

not sure how much experience you have in karting but I would highly highly recommend taking whatever seat you end up buying with your kart to a local legit kart shop with scales and have them put it all together with you.  The kart I have now I bought with a tillet seat in it and the guy raced it many times before me and he was very similar build but when i swapped it out for a professionally installed ribtect seat it transformed the kart in so many ways.  Was the best money I have spent on my kart so far.

I don’t mean to bump and ancient conversation but I have been struggling with this same situation and found this all very valuable.  Jim Russell’s comment above is great.

I moved from a tillet seat to a ribtect and then took my kart and my seat to my local shop and had them install it for me on some scales so that I knew a legit pro shop.  This helped a lot as the shop set my seat up with more “lean back” and I prefer the ribtect seat.

One thing that I think has helped me is adding footrests/heal cups.  This allows me to brace myself in long sweeping turns a bit more by pushing myself back into my seat with my outside foot and allows me to relax my hands a bit and be more sensitive to what the kart is doing.

can a kart seat be too tight in regards to it not allowing the kart chassis to flex properly?  my seat is tight and I like it that way but it is a very tight fit

WOW!  is that a cr80 or cr85 Gary?  I had been told 3.5-4 hours on a piston was the lifespan for these built shifter kart cr80s so if you are getting >10 then I am wasting tons of money and time on pistons!

certainly upgrade the gear, i blew one up in a bottom end i ran and it ruined the entire bottom end costing way more than the gear would have.  the kart tires have way more grip than stock dirtbike so it’s require imo.

i’ve heard the cr85 pistons last longer for some reason.  i have two cr80s that i run, one swedetech setup from years ago and then have a woltjer ported cylinder that has ports WAY bigger than the swedetech or my other project X ported cylinder.  I always run the upgraded wrist pin bearing and woltjer pistons from Fastech (jon is the man and always helped me out, highly recommend ordering from him)

always been curious how many hours you guys run your pistons before rebuilding them?

it’s required imo, i broke one in a motor i bought that i didn’t realize had a stock 3rd gear in it and it destroyed the gearbox.  all my other motors have billet 3rd gears and i have never had any issues.  i don’t think the brand matters, any gear that is billet should work fine.
