      Odd. Maybe the battery is bad and is just not providing the advertised CCA.

      Check the amps with a multimeter. Or try another one, doesn’t need to be larger.

      You should have no issues starting it then.

      Is it an old battery? The older a battery is, the more it’s internal resistance increases and reduces it’s capacity to deliver current.

      Those batteries are not sitting under a hood being consistently charged by an alternator, so perhaps it is just a bit on the old side.

      I was battling this EXACT issue, but I have a BIG 155+cc motor, so I knew it would be a problem.

      The way I solved it was by hooking up batteries in parallel. I have a 230CCA battery in my Coleman starter, and a 670CCA battery connected in parallel to that.

      Now, WHY you are having that current capacity issue is a different question. My KPV started no problem with just 230CCA, FYI.

      What kind of motor are you trying to start?
