They have had the same practice course for the last few years so I expect that drivers would have good data on how it compares

I will throw in a spare Dark Rider frame with this kart

Ok, here is a follow up tech question for all of you. When I started karting, I wanted my kart to look different than what everybody else was running so I had all my low volume wheels powder coated a different color. Is it possible that the powder coating is insulating the tire and air inside the tire from the cooling air flowing past the wheel?

Thanks for the help, I will try 9-11 psi. I am curious why EVERYBODY locally runs far higher pressures but I’ll see what happens at the next test day

Today I was in 2nd place in the pre-final within sight of the checkered flag and my engine died and I finished third-the ground wire on the EVO harness broke off at the head. Then in the Final race, I was in 2nd place again and the ground wire of the driver in front of me broke and he was out of the race and I won. I lost one position today and gained one position because of broken ground wire on the EVO. Let this be a warning.

I have not run my EVO DD2 yet but I have to agree that the switch and battery cover seem very flimsy

I ordered two Evo DD2 kits in December and got both of them two weeks ago. Everything bolted to the engine looks fine and I really like the new wiring harness that eliminates all the wires going up to the steering column, but I have concerns about the new start switch and battery cover. The cover clips on the front and uses one M6 screw to hold it at the back. It is very easy to not get the front clipped properly, which will result in a battery bouncing across the track. It also makes disconnecting the battery at the end of the day a little more difficult, and the start switch feels really low quality, with lots of free play and cheap plastic.

I own a kart track and it also serves as a mini laboratory for my crazy experiments. In general, you deal with understeer by braking later and getting on the gas later and with oversteer by braking earlier and getting on the gas earlier. Because of this, we have seen karts with worn out rear tires get great lap times because drivers can get on the gas really early and accelerate all the way around turns. Once we put new rear tires on, balance shifted to neutral or understeery and lap times suffered even though overall grip went up. I’m no expert but I would try to increase grip on the front before I would try a less grippy tire on the back.

Could it be just your axle coupler slipping? I had the old style coupler (lots of teeth) and the axle moved over and it disengaged. I also have had the coupler slip on the axle when the 4 plastic bushings inside are worn out. It feels a lot like the clutch not engaging.

Thanks, I used to shift around 12500 rpm and tried 11000 but didn’t see a difference in laptimes. I’ll play around with the shifting and see if anything changes

I use B&M Trickshift transmission fluid for my DD2 gearbox. I tried full synthetic trans fluid but it was too slippery and the engine would rev up before the clutch engaged

I weigh 168 naked and have the lightweight battery in my kart and use around 8 lbs of lead to get to the class minimum of 381 lbs.
