I had a chance to talk with Anthony Abbasse a few weeks ago  we were working together at a KART Racing Acadamy event at our track. I knew he was go to Texas for the SN and asked him what he thought of the Honda’s.  He said its a good package. Not as much power as a KZ but still respectible. I think he has respect for American drivers and won’t be looking to run away with the win but he’s not going to lay down either! The motor is only a part of the package the driver and chassis will make up the bigger part. If you get a chance go say hello to him he is a really nice guy !!  Speak slowly he will understand you better :) !

Really wish I could be there ! Could only swing one trip this year going to Calif to see My Dad and Sis. My be next year!!! ;)
“If someone showed up with one, they would be in the back.” I’ll bet there are more then just a few racers reading on here that are saying, hummmm.. maybe? That’s why there racers. Thank you for the reply, I hope my response was not just arguing. paul
I would have to say Paul you’re showing a little ignorance on this subject with that comment.

. I guess is that because the event is under the CIK-FIA sanction, they follow the rules to the ‘t’ there,

To all the people racing in the Rotax finals this year remember this statement.

Sorry everyone for being late with the 3 different time zones I got confused about when.

It’s coming to the point you just pick Vettel for the win and guess for the rest. Lost my interest in nascar for this crap and quickly losing interest in F1.

      Thanks Ian!

I’m looking for something to do some promotional stuff and a kart for people to try so if it’s not the fastest that works. Enough to scare the big mouths and spark the interest of the real drivers and for me to play with on open track days!  I have a KZ kart and also looking at a legend car also for the same reason.

Chris.  I wouldn’t buy it sight unseen I’d take the 2 hour drive up to Tec -Sav and Talk to Yannick about it.

      Thanks!

Richard I’m a big guy also 6’2″ 220 and it’s true we are to big to take full advantage of karting “But” you can work on your race craft that will get you closer. I’ve tried different gears  and you’ll suffer up top or on the bottom . I don’t road race so it could be different but I gear for a little more top end  because I’m better/Faster in the tighter stuff I loose on the striaghts and get it back in the turns. If I’m clean and carry as much speed as possible even with a shifter.

I did a challange in rental karts 2 weeks ago on a pretty tight track I had the 13th Fastest  qual timeout of 36 drivers I was the biggest of all the drivers. I tried to be as smooth as possible and didn’t over brake. A 6th and two 3rds in the heats. My team mates didn’t do as well so finish not so good. :(

I run a KZ kart and the power is different but when your 40lb heavier than the rest there really isn’t alot you can do that 40-50 puts you  a second and a half off the leaders.

Try and find a gear you feel comfortable with and work on your race craft and be smooth don’t over work the chassis let it do it’s job. A very good driver once told me drive like your the only one on the track and it dosen’t matter ! you’ll go faster when your calm and not forcing  yourself.

      Good luck !!

Russ,  When a driver leaves or comes onto the track  your suppose to raise your hand to let the other drivers know that your slowing down or that you are coming on track so that they can take evasive action if need be !

This race is not an  international race  that is run under FIA/CIK international rules it is a FFSA national race with an option for international pilots. So it is run under FFSA rules .

He made an unsafe stop on the track with out raising his hand to let the drivers know he was stopping!

He left his kart on the track and walked away!

He had contacted with someone outside of park fermé

His crew member entered on the track ( He crossed over the wall that separates people from the track. He was not on the track surface but the barrier is still considered the track. The pilot is responsible for everything his crew does)

He reentered the track without looking or signaling he was entering the track.

This pilot has many years of racing under his belt ! it was not his first race he could not claim ignorance.

If we as race Directors let things like this go it will get worst. Give an inch they take a mile! everyone will think they can stop and celebrate on the track.

We run a very tight schedule here if there are karts to pickup on the track the truck can not enter on to the track till all kart have left the track and we can’t release  the next race till the pickup car has left the track. Here if the race goes over the scheduled finish time the track will be fined by the city.

My main concern is the safety of EVERY driver that is on the track and that the rules are followed and handed out equally to all.  I don’t see everything but I do see more than most people think I give chances when they are merited and drop the hammer when it’s deserved.

I was not at this race but had the opportunity to talk with one of the Co race directors(3) at this race and I know the lead race director of this race. This was talked about between all of them before the decision was made to DQ him.

What would you all be saying if someone had run in to his kart and got hurt?????? The officials didn’t do enough!!

I’m sorry this happened ! But not sorry for the results of it!

      Salut! Michael

      Yes Yes Yes !

He is French and The rule has been on the books a long time!! He knew it!

I would have done the same thing!

He put him self and the crew member and the rest of the field in danger! SAFETY FIRST!
