I have the KartLift Brand and I have the long ones on my Son’s Tony Kart and I promise you they are by far the best plates to put on your kart.
I also heard that skid plates change how the chassis handles but I was told by many that the KartLift brand doesn’t change how the chassis handles because they Free Float. I’m not sure how they free float but they did not change how his kart handled at all.
In fact my son won his class Championship this last year and the best part is there is not a scratch on the bottom of his kart.
So I would say go ahead and get the skid plates but make sure you get the KartLift Brand as I know for sure they don’t change the handling at all in the kart because of the Free Floating design.

Also it is better to add some small weights on the kart rather than large heavy ones so you don’t stress the seat. Try to spread them out of you can.
We have weight in the front of the kart, on the seat, and then on the frame so the kart is balanced all around rather than having 40lbs attached do just the seat and putting all the stress on the seat

I have emailed OTKUSA a couple of times for questions regarding TonyKart questions and they have always been very helpful so yes checkout OTKUSA and email them they should be able to get you some answers if they can.

Check out Jay Howard at MDD Karting he is one of the nicest guys in karting and he has a resume that is impressive.
He runs a program for all kinds of kartsrs at any level and seems to be very successful.

I say bring back the KPV Komet engine. I liked it better anyway than Yamha. Faster And more reliable.
But it is all but dead unfortunately.
To bad they couldn’t figure out how to run both with pipe and can together and figure out the weight thing then everyone would be happy. Everyone except me because i still like the KPV engine better.
I have a hard time letting go I guess. Lol. Oh well such is life

Is can attest that Mark Coats sells top level equipment as I bought a 2014 Tony Kart from him for my son this summer and I have been extremely pleased with it.
I would not hesitate to buy from him again as when he says it is National Caliber Equipment and well maintained he is telling the truth.
I have heard from many others as I asked around before I bought from him if his stuff is top notch and they all said the same thing

Simply put I think Tim and TJ Koyen hit the nail on the head. Watch the OTK Factory video and that should tell you why karts are so expensive. I don’t even want to guess how much those robots cost.
That and there are people that will pay that kind of money to have the best stuff available and win races.
I’m learning in racing if you want to run up front, a top of the line chassis helps a tremendous amount. There is a reason why OTK brands are so popular and until people stop buying them the price is not going anywhere.
Which I don’t see happening anytime soon and unfortunately I think that is one of the reasons why you see karting numbers so low at the club levels because people starting out don’t want to pay $5500 for a new chassis.

I agree with Gary 100% with all his comments. I also have the SKF bearings and will never look back. Never had an axle slide when racing and Changing axles is so much quicker and easier and my axles are super smooth because there are no set screws to file and the axle spins freely so much better.
Last year in the heat I always had an issue where the kart would bind up in the heat and the rear would have a lot of grip. This year however we have not had that issue at all. Don’t know if it is due to the SKF bearings rolling more free or not but last year we had regular bearings in and this year we went with the SKF Ceramics and we don’t seem to have that issue.
I have been very happy and like Gary said I will never look back either. I know they are pricey but for me I would find a way as I like them that much.
