Darren … do I have a deal for you. I just bought a new laptop used twice specifically for that purpose – racestudio. I am a mac guy also. I hadn’t plan on getting out of karting so quickly. I would have given it away free to the new owners of my kart, but I knew they already had a laptop. I did the investigation and ended up buying a brand new ~$500 laptop loaded with Win 7. I can let you have it for 50% of what I paid for it. I was telling the wife we should donate it to good will – which it will end up going in a few weeks. PM me if interested and I can send you to a link of the computer. I bought on Amazon.

How about an iRacing Frame. I’m looking for an old trashed out frame that I can blast, paint and mount some monitors on. It’d be perfect.

I struggled through rib issues last year. I think my seat was too big. I read a post similar to this and saw many positive about ribtec and no negative comments. I put the seat in after a month of healing. I also use the matching vest. The seat is super tight and got some getting used to (maybe my old seat was just too loose).

I never experience any rib issues any longer. I’m glad I switched.

I have been driving for about a year and I am now just starting to tune my chassis. I just started last week taking tire temp readings. I seem to read a lot about how people “do a lot of this” and how people “don’t do a lot of that”. I decided that my understanding did not develop (the theory part – the why).  I will really spend next year reading, gathering data, trying “this and that”, one at a time and comparing. I know some of my efforts will not reap rewards – but I will learn what is important and what is not. And I will have learned it first hand. I hope that my tire temps will correlate and help build my understanding of why the kart handles for a particular situation. Plus – if karters are like most off the other people in my life … some may not really not know what they are talking about. And right now, I don’t have a way to distinguish between the two.

To complicate matters … I have read certain things in books, read about the same thing on-line. I then ask some reputable people that are quite knowledgable and they say quite the opposite to what I read.

It is the opposing views which made me decide to quit asking people and start learning “the hard way”. My motto from now on is “read, try, read, try, and then evaluate.

Thanks TJ and Eric for the great advice. I’ll try the front track adjustments.

I will look at the smoothness of the RPM trace throughout the corners. However, I don’t know how this will help. I try to drive smooth every corner and every lap. Maybe looking at the data will clear that up??
