Do all tracks have the noise testing equipment? There will ne a few of us going to Daytona. It would be a big help if we could get the reading.
It might help if all the racers got their results listed. Just like fast lap. loudest sound.
It would really suck to make the trip and not run.

Amount of classes too many? Well yes. However there are guys that want to run thier kart and the kart they have the class has all but gone away but for a few guys. I think the WKA as well as other kart clubs do this so they can get more $$ to pay for the track and it also give the “FEW” a place to play with thier toys.
Please remember it for fum and a family sport. There are other events that you can hit that are highly competive such as the VEGAS race and SKUSA.I am happy they gave me a place I can still run my 250 Twin. and I thank the clubs for that. Looking at the weather for the NCM race, I was not to work today but that changed. So Joey and I can not make it. I hope the weather holds out for everyone.

Can you please allow driving in the pits? I understand there are saftey concerns. I thinks it’s pretty simple. I there is a driver abusing it. penlize him not everyone.
I have been to many events where driving in the pits is not an issue.

Good to see you are have the practice day. Good Luck to all and I hope the weather holds up for it.

Just a thought. Stay safe everyone.

Good feed back. So is the 250 twin LEGAL to run in the unlimited? I will be there to run and have a good time with the guys. It’s been a while since I been to Daytona. I was wondering if there was a change. I don’t think I got the answer yet.
I’m sure it will be fun. Looking forward to seeing everyone. -
November 26, 2014 at 6:04 am #37794Johnny WestParticipant
Unless I am missing something. Are the twins now allowed to run in the unlimited class legally? I understood the unlimited was a Single cylinder 250 engine. The Twins had to run in the Twin local option class.
I have another question. Will the option classes be a plaqe or a Cup like the other classes? I was told this has changed. And the GAS GAS engine ran with the Twins. The Twins ran for 30 minutes. On the track at the same time as the Unlimited. We just camme in after 30 minutes. I am ok running for the 45 minutes against the Unlimited’s. Just need to know if I have to add a Xtra fuel tank.

I would like to thank the KART folks for putting on the race. These folks really care about the racer.
As far as the Superkart race. There were 5 Superkarts there. 1 Twin 1 CR and 3 Gas Gas
Qualifling went well. Times were pretty slow. Scotty and I were in the 1.40’s Lowenstine 1.45 Ardy 1.45 Joey 1.51
Since the turn out was thin for the class West Racing decided not to put on Fresh tire for the race. Well….. That was not such a good idea. It was a hand full trying to keep the kart on the track let alone get a fasrt lap in. Scotty had the rod let go on the 3rd lap he was out, Joey and I had tires go flat 1 lap to the checker,I think Lowenstine just came in as his tires were gone, Ardy finshed and that was it.
Ardy and Lowenstine were not able to run sunday, Scotty did not have an engine to run, So Joey and I decided not to run either. We talked to Kelly and said we were going to head back to Chicago, this way maybe they could use the time slot.
We told Kelly to keep the Traid’s for next year perhaps we can earn one then. As far as running the Superkarts with another class. At this point speaking for myself. I am just thankful we have a place to run. Sure it’s nice to have the “USSK” format. However you have to look at the whole picture. If you got 5 guys there in no reason they can not run along with other classes. We must do what is best for the clubs or we won’t have any clubs. I am not giving up on Superkarts mind you. Just looking at the reality of where it is at today.
Thanks again for having us to your event. We will be back again.

It sounds like you might have a pluged fuel tank vent. Check the vent in the tank. Be sure it’s getting air. If not you are sucking a vacume and will not get the fuel for the engine.

On my Dyno ( Dyno-Jet) I have a weather station in the stack. It checks the dyno room air. We have a very good exhaust system and a fresh air inlet to the room. The weather is always checking the air and correcting . On the screen there is a selection for DIN SAE STD and Uncorrected. I always use SAE. This corrects for sea level. Note. There are a few things that can effect the test. Bad axle or drive gears, roller chain, draging brake, axle bearings, ect…
To see if the change you made was good. See if it is “repeteable” To the baseline test. Make a change- retest. Good or bad the results. Go back to baseline setting, retest again. It should be the same as the 1st baseline At the very least VERY CLOSE to it. Hope this helps.

The Maveric chassis is the chassis of choice for sure. The older Marage is 1 inch shorter and 2 inches narrow-er. I feel; get the new chassis The new Andersons now have a upgraded front brake system. Less brake fade on high speed tracks.

I can’t get on mylaps any more since they changed thier site. At Daytona; I ran a 156.3 and Randy Johnson running my back up kart ran a 156.6. I believe the top speed was 153. Note this was on the gauge. Back then it was not “GPS” information.
At MIS I ran 143 mph as shown on the “GPS” on the gauge.Lap time was 118.3
I never removed the wing to see how the chassis handled.I can not make Daytona this year becuase I will be on a cruise. I do think the DEA will be faster at Daytona. Time will tell. -
