From someone who had inside perspective the years of favoritism, post tech inspection violations that were ignored or couldn’t be proven, backwards thinking and treating people like crap I can’t say none of this surprises me. IKF is a prime example of how do to everything wrong in promoting karting. They sure knew how to chase people away by trying to suck every penny they could out of a club and giving nothing in return. As one former board member said it’s our race and we will do anything we want with it you were right you made it irrelevant.

Debbie and I went the first event she had never driven the track and wanted to try it at least once I had driven the old version which I still think is a better track before it got screwed up. It was a $1000 day for us to run 1 class I won’t go again and spend that much money to run 1 class. Change the format give me a couple of classes that I can race in and be competitive for about $250 I will be their and I know of a few others that would also. The noise rule prevents people from running I heard a few people say they don’t want to buy a silencer to run 1 event I know it’s a track rule but some just don’t want to take a chance spending a lot of money and might get kicked out.

Another thing you need to be careful with an oval chassis there a good chance it will tip over when you make a right hand turn when you go through a sharp corner.

It’s being done if you walk in the shop and ask for it the shop will deny doing it.

The IKF board for the most part has been a bunch of old dinosaurs that believed clubs should promote IKF racing and it was the boards job was only to write rules and sell insurance.

They had the backward thinking that a small nationals was better as long as the regional program was strong. If you were buddies with the president you could have rules changed for your race it was no secret that it happened. I called out the president one time for allowing a rule change a month before the nationals so the club president would get a kickback from a tire company I still have the e-mail from the clown.

Worse was if you did something the board didn’t like they would have the tech director DQ some drivers they felt were part of running of the event I witnessed it. When you ask to prove it you were told it didn’t pass in the garage even though it would pass when it was showed to you. I saw a tech director refuse to DQ one race even though he said the kart was illegal and told the competitors to write a protest when that happened he asked the drivers not to turn it in.

Bury IKF for good there is no point for them to exist.

I think he is referring to the IKF nationals an event that use to be important but nobody cares about anymore.

The only difference from last year was there was more notice and you are still trying to split the few people that might run from the Willow Springs event on the 15th just like last year. Why try and make the same mistake again just like I said last year I would support the event if it wasn’t scheduled on top of Willow.

Over the years at times the more someone tries to make karting safer the more dangerous it has become. Karting has turned into overpowered rental karts it’s less about driver skill and more about shoving and wrecking somebody. The last step to finally screwing it up is putting on a roll cage in the name of safety. Karting would be safer if you removed all the bodywork you would sure learn respect real quick if you tried to drive the same way.

I am fortunate to able to watch guys like Scott Pruett, Lynn Haddock and Ron Emmick race karts seeing those guys race each other hard and passing was an art form it was a joy to watch I can’t say that about karting today.

Honestly, it shouldn’t be too hard to do. We need to get realistic numbers from COTA. Possibly work around their schedule to get a better rate. If we have a comprehensive list of karts and monies for a deposit (give discount to racers sending early deposit) I don’t see why they wouldn’t give it a shot. I’d love to see this race happen As would many others.

Some of us who put on events know taking the money is the easy part it’s all the other work which is a lot that is very time consuming. Tracks like COTA look beyond track rental it’s how much fuel can be sold how much can the snack bar take in how many garages will be rented.  There are no better rates you get told the price and that’s it.

Don’t know why people get upset with this NASCAR changes the outcome of a race all the time with the fake cautions at the end of the races. They did it to Brian Scott on Friday with a BS caution because a car got high a brushed the wall and kept going.

Why is getting people back to a roadrace track or try it out for the first time a bad thing if some of them decide to continue racing it will only be a benefit everybody involved. The only thing that would be bad thing is if a series decides to schedule a race on top of this one. That would have to make the racer choose on running a F1 track that you only get 1 shot at or the others that have been run on before. This is the type of thinking that has always hurt karting in the past but it wouldn’t surprise one bit that someone will try it again. Come on people let the race happen and without having to whine about it.

Looks like a Gary Hartmam pipe it was designed about 30 years ago to run on twin engine enduro karts. If you are just practicing run it at 9″ if you are racing throw it away it won’t be competitive and buy a L2.

If you are in the right circle you can get your motor EDM’d you just can’t be someone walking off the street and expect to get it done. If you don’t believe it’s happening you are only fooling yourself.

If you saw how karting use to be you would know how horrible people race today without the fear of getting hurt anybody can slam into the back of somebody knock them off the track and keep going that’s your quote is so true and the problem  “as the full width rear bumpers pretty much eliminated 90% of the potential for flips from wheel contact”

I have heard many race directors say in drivers meeting no bumping but most of them choose not to see it when it happens.
