Hi, folks,

Robert called me this morning and asked me to let you know that he is having computer problems and will be unable to post any news for the next couple of days. We are still on for Grattan next week, the weather is looking great and we are both looking forward to seeing everybody there.

Not sure if I can make it this time. Still need to fix my water pump and I might as well rebuild the bottom end while the motor’s on the bench.

Here’s some video from April, 2017. Water temps are kind of hard to see, but I was running in the 130s. I ended up pulling a strip of tape off the radiator to get it into the mid-140s where my engine likes it, but apparently I took no more videos that day. Hope this helps.

Um… yes you have. Me!

In 2001 with no previous karting experience at all I bought a 125 shifter and showed up at the WKA Mid-Ohio nationals. It took almost five more years to get my first podium finish at that level.

April weather is always “iffy” in the Great Lakes region. If it comes down to committing to one weekend or the other the odds favor the later weekend for better weather. But I’ll be there no matter what.

My phone died last week. I’m taking it in tomorrow to either get it fixed or buy a new one. Hopefully I can keep the same number, but I’ll email you when I know.

Too bad about Nelson, the new pavement looks awesome. Maybe next year.

I can’t make it to Pitt Raceway this weekend, but I’ll do Grattan in Oct. since I have 5+ gallons of race fuel I need to burn before winter. I’ll drop a check in the mail tomorrow.

Hard to believe it’s been almost ten years since we raced there.

WTF? It’s right off Exit 1 of the PA Turnpike (I-76). They’ll drive to freaking Daytona every year no problem but suburban Pittsburgh is somehow out of the question?

It will be interesting to see the turnout for this race. I’m hoping “the track formerly known as Beaverun” becomes a permanent fixture on the schedule.

Aww, sorry to hear about Chance. I met him last year at Grattan. He was a cute little guy, but he sure wasn’t a fan of my big dogs. LOL

It’s never easy to say goodbye to our furry friends. Enzo left a huge hole in both my heart and my wallet, but the wallet will be a heck of a lot easier to fill. I’ll try to get you a check next Friday.

Hey Robert – I’m definitely in for both days. I need to check with Ken to see if he wants to come along. But it’s going to be 2-3 weeks before I can send a check. I’m pretty much broke after paying vet bills.

My dog Enzo developed a serious health issue earlier this week but the absolute worst part is he just passed away in my arms about two hours ago as I was about to load him into the van to rush him to the vet clinic (again).

Sorry to cast such dark clouds over this thread, but I thought you should know.

I’ve been waiting to run on their “South Track” since it was first proposed almost 20 years ago under the original management. Now that the new pavement is down on both circuits it looks like an awesome track. I’m planning on the AKRA race there and if you can get us another day  of practice I’ll be there as well. Only two hours away from me… :)
