I apologize sincerely if I’m wrong but what I see from F1 from on TV, there a spec series from what they say. Build your chassis to this spec and keep your engine to this hp. Sounds spec to me, they clearly don’t say it’s a spec series with there manufactures rules. I’m sorry this is coming from a fan.
I get what you are saying, they (FIA) come up with rules and everything is built within the rules.  That’s not what happened with the TAG class, it was the opposite.  The only thing that was similar with the TAG was all but one was a 125cc 2 cycle.  The rules were made after the engines were built.

The TAG classes had engines with different bore and stroke, different ignition, different max rev’s, different type of carbs, different size of carbs, different type of exhaust.

With all these differences one engine would always have  an advantage on a certain track.  Nothing could be done easily that would work on all types of track.  You had 10 pounds to the Rotax on one track it would get killed and on another track it would be the engine to have.

The point is, even back in the TAG glory days you had to have multiple types of engine if you ran the National scene.  I know I remember one WKA race where a TAG driver showed up with three karts with three different engines on practice day.

I believe Performance Kartsport in Colorado were the last importer.  Just not sure if they are still importing them as they have started to import Dino Chiesa new chassis Kart Republic.

      http://www.performancekartsport.com is there website.

The engines were not equal.  At the local level it can work, but most likely the fastest engine will be the one you want/need.

On the National level in the last few years of the TaG class you would see people show up with multiple engines to try in practice to see what was the fastest.

The CRG front porch extension is bolted on.  You remove the lower and top bumper bars.  The kit should come with a new longer lower and top bumper bars.  The pedals then get mounted to new longer lower bumper bar, along with a small floor pan.

Front Bumper and Driver Fairing – KG Unico

Sidepods – I’d assume old KG breadbox style.

I can kinda see the missing the shift thing, but what happens in a car, least say F2000 or Indycar.  You’re destroy the front wing and you have to come in and change it.  Losing a lot of time.

It might not be prefect, but it’s better than what’s going on currently.
how does this truly decrease contact if I can brake-check you at the start and damage your bumper?
Stop hurrying about what’s behind you Rob!!!

I’ve never thought about brake checking someone.  For the fact that I’d probably end up on the side of the track.  And believe me, if someone brake checked me on purpose, i’d make sure they were on the side of the track.

The risk versus reward of brake checking someone is not worth it.  Too many things can go wrong.  And if the person behind you has the same attitude, one or both would end up on the side of the track.  And 9 times out of 10 its the kart in front.

My guess is the WKA Winter Series won’t happen or all the dates change.  SKUSA just announced the Pro Tour schedule and the Winter Nationals are March 3-5 at NOLA.

Complete package at most would be around $750- $1000 due to the age of both.

Yes, on the metal bumper you do need a bar going across the bottom.

      https://cometkartsales.com/CRG-Metal-Rear-Bumper-Hardware/

Number 8 in the photo is an example.
So it looks like nobody knows. This might be a good question for the US Tony//Kart importer. Hey does anybody know who the current Tony//Kart importer is?  Somebody else?
TonyKart Italy started OTK USA probably about 4 or 5 years ago now to serve as the importer.

      Samir,

What David is saying about the banner is that yes Birel made the First Kart at one point in time.

For instance. CRG makes the DR Kart, Zanardi, LH, Maranello, GP Racing, Dino Kart.

Here’s a link to the latest homologation that shows the maker of the kart.

      http://www.cikfia.com/fileadmin/content/REGULATIONS/Homologations/Homologated%20Equipment/2014/Homol-materiel-2015_liste_web.pdf

As far as the First Kart, under the right hands the kart can be fast.  Any kart can be fast in my opinion.

      Jordan,

The first place to look is the OVKA website and check out the 2015 Rulebook, which was posted late last week.  The club runs off of WKA Rules.

Sonik was a great engine for bigger guys.  The issue the Sonik VX and TX is that both are pretty much dead.  Sonik was sold roughly 5 years ago to Maxter.  Maxter didn’t keep producing the engine or parts.

The main engine options you’ll have is Leopard, X30, Rok TT, Motori 7, Rotax, PRD.

The engine for a bigger guy would be either the Rok TT or Motori 7, which you should be able to find at reasonable prices due to the SKUSA not allowing these engines and WKA Man Cup going to Leopard or X30 only.

It looks similar, but not a copy for sure.

The HPV/KPV/K71 was a piston port engine.

The Horstman website says this is a reed valve engine, which I see a spot for the reeds behind the carb, just different to have it in the cylinder and not the bottom end of the engine.

1.)  CRG, Birel and OTK all make an extended porch.   The CRG kit will fit on Parolin/Merlin, I know that for sure.  Also remember CRG, Birel and OTK make a lot of different brands.  I can send photos if need be.

2.)  Yes, the overall length will increase roughly 4 inches.

3.)  Height is one thing, but it’s really the inseam.  If you are looking to purchase a chassis, try to seat in one first.

4.) Most chassis now some to be either 30mm or 30mm/32mm combination.

The 56/CH/14 and 42/CH11 is the homologation number.

      http://www.cikfia.com/fileadmin/content/REGULATIONS/Homologations/Homologated%20Equipment/Homol-materiel-2012_liste_web.pdf

The date the chassis was built is not on the plate.  If you contact the OTK, they might be able to find out from the serial number.

That’s like asking what’s the best F1 driver.

It’s comes down to where you race and what’s supported.

If I was to race it would come down to either the Rotax or IAME X30.
